First off, they do not tell you that the only way they will refill RX for heartworm is if you test with them every year, even if you are treating yearly. That would be okay if they knew how to do a draw, as I had to ask the tech to shave my dogs paw so they could actually do a comfortable draw instead of guessing and sticking him in the wrong area not once, but twice. We have moved over to a much better experience where they can do a comfortable draw and they test every 2 years, if you have been treating year round. Dr. Levinson I would recommend over this practice and it's the same price, overall and they will allow you to fill on Amazon, which Valley Vet CO will not do. Dr. Levinson 505-890-8810. Was very impressed!! I had never heard about Valley Vetco. I was stressed and in a bind with very little time to get these shots for my 3 little guys. My dog sitter wasn't able to make it, so I had to reach out to board them. They all needed the influenza shot in order to board. To my surprise Valley Vetco had a shot clinic. I met one of the most wonderful, caring and kind Vet, Dr. Barbara Maxam. I was so impressed with her kindness and knowledge. It would be an honor for me if Dr Maxam were my regular vet. Has the boy neutered here. Odd process... everyone arrives at the same time and then they check people in based on who can stand closest to the door. Not exactly a fair process. A man with his daughter was there first with a large dog. He was extremely polite so people who were able to hold their very small animals just passed him to stand at the door. IMO I feel like they could stagger the process or call people up in the order of when they scheduled. The waiting area was sparkling clean. The staff was friendly. Picked up the boy at the end of the day around 4:30. It was worth paying the fee for the extra pain pills My boy is extremely energetic and this helped him sleep a lot the first few days. He healed up nicely with in the 2 weeks. I would recommend checking the clinic hours if there is a holiday close. If your dog/cat has any problem with the incision and they are closed you will have to go the ER. So that the down side. However the cost was very reasonable. For a basic shot & neuter clinic - pretty good. I probably wouldn't recommend taking a teacup here without asking some additional questions. My 16 pound terrier had a good experience. read more

I have been to valley Vetco twice now for my puppy to have his shots. The first time, the lady with black hair that had blue in it was very unfriendly. She did not agree on the breed that was typed on the paper that I got from a vet where I got my puppy and insisted on writing what she thought his breed was. I was not impressed but was not in the mood to argue with her. The last time I went, that particular lady was one of two giving the shots so I did not have to deal with her again, thankfully. Five star for shots. I brought my six month old female rotti shepherd mix in for her rabies vac and an other immunization. My rat terrier came along for support. My big pup is really sensitive. The vet gave her the two shots while her assistant scratched my pup's head, spoke to her calmly, and treated her with high quality soft beefy treats. My pup was "unfazed". I was worried about the previous bad reviews of "owner bashing" and the staff being insensitive. I was willing to trot outa there if that happened, but everyone was kind and professional. I have been going to Valley Vetco for many years. I have always had good service there. Not this time. March 19th, 2022 I took my new boxer puppy for her 4 month shots. Karina was the one that checked me in, verified I was there for parvo, distemper, and her rabies shot. I said yes. Paid my bill and was told where to wait until my dog went back. Person from the back took her as I waited in the waiting room. When she brought her out she verified the shot, a combo, that was given and also mentioned it contained Leptospirosis. I was livid. I did not want my puppy to have that shot. When I told her this she said they follow protocol and that was part of it. Said if I didn't want the shot I should have stated that when I checked her in. I didn't feel the need as Karina verified what I was there for and she did not mention this vaccine. I was totally freaked out. My sons boxer went into shock after this shot. No apology, argumentative, and not friendly. Was told I was welcome to wait an hour in case my dog had a reaction to the vaccine. I had already been there waiting outside two and a half hours waiting my turn to be seen. After the vaccine was given I waited another 30 min before I left. I approached Karina, the girl that checked me in, and expressed my concern and displeasure that she did not disclose all the vaccines my dog was getting. Her response was that I didn't need to get all up in her face about it. Again no apology. Also rolled her eyes at me. Unprofessionalism to the max. Pre covid staff was helpful and always professional. Post covid front office staff is very unprofessional. There are many choices where I can take my animals for vet care. I don't need to put up with unprofessional staff. I will take my animals elsewhere because of this experience. The Vetco is on the same building as a coffee shop which has outdoor seating. People who are at the coffee shop get upset and cause scenes when dogs are barking. There is no sign at Vetco that says people cannot sit outside on the bench by the doors. Also On the website it does not state this. After I put my name on the sign in sheet I sat away from other people who also had their dogs. Of course my dog was barking at these other dogs because their dogs are barking at him. While the dogs are barking (as dogs do) this man came up to me and starting yelling for me to "shut my dog up because he can't hear his friend talk." This man was at coffee shop at the patio seating. Of course we get into it and one of the vet techs comes out and tells me she doesn't understand how people can't follow simple instructions, they do not allow people to stand outside with their dogs to prevent dog fights. And if I can't follow the simple rules she'll call the cops. I did not appreciate the attitude she had, and how she spoke to me in front of these other people, and only targeting me and my dog. Another women asked how can people hear their name being called if we're in our vehicles, and if we can put our numbers down. She interrupted the women asking the question with "WE DO NOT TAKE ANY NUMBERS! We have a mega phone and call out your name." The women also asked how can we hear you call our names when people are parked through out the parking lot with the vehicles running and windows semi up? The tech said "we go car to car incase you didn't hear". (This was NOT the case, no one went car to car, they went inside and moved on to the next list) When I was leaving the bench the tech then came back and told me that I can sit at the next bench which is by the fitness center and the coffee shop. I believe she only came back outside to tell me about the other benches because she noticed I am pregnant. I was not able to get her name because she doesn't have a name tag, and when I asked the receptionist for her name she didn't know who I was talking about even tho I pointed her out. When going inside I noticed that the girl that I had an argument with is on the surgery side and not the clinic. The employees at the shot clinic are absolutely amazing. Great customer service and very friendly. It's a shame because 1 bad apple can ruin it for everyone. I understand that it gets busy and they handle a lot of people but there is absolutely no reason for employees to target one person while other people are outside doing the same thing. If you do not want people waiting outside by the doors, there has to be a better system and should be signs throughout the building stating this rule. read more

Not knowing the whole situation I left my cat to get spayed. When returning, I had my daughter with me who is 7 y/o. That same employee then glared at me asking "is anyone else with you" as if my daughter was not right next to me. She then expressed that she could not be in there. I then asked what she suggested? I did not have access to a babysitter, my car was parked at the sonic next door and my cat was ready to be picked up. I then asked the employee "what do you suggest I leave my daughter in the car alone?" She responded with "well whatever you decide to do". All while this is going on a woman is yelling at a customer on the phone, laughing at him and telling him that HE isn't being professional. If you are looking for a place to get low cost vacinations this is the place. The staff can be a bit rude but if that is important to you then you should go else where but you will pay much more. They are also quick. We went on a Saturday and the place was packed in the waiting room but we were still in and out in 40 minutes. They don't take appointments so check their times on line because they do close for lunch. Also because they are so busy on Saturdays they may charge extra for some services on the weekend such as ear cleaning. read more

When I asked the reason for such a long wait for shots, the tech replied that "people are keeping the doctor too long, asking her unimportant questions." Really? Then maybe your vet should contact the Menaul's VetCo's vet and understand that this is a SHOT CLINIC, not free physicals and/or consultations! This place was quite disappointing, mainly because they're so unorganized and so inefficient in their service. Hopefully, once they get a doctor who's not a push-over, things might change. We went in for a rabies vaccine for the dogs to be legal. So what did they do? They told my husband he HAD to have a distemper parvo vaccine and charge us 24 dollars for the shot that was supposed to be SEVEN dollars. OK everything is giving me sticker shock these days the place was clean, the computer was slow and they manipulated my husband to get more shots that rabies. Valley Vetco is lacking in animal care awareness and insight into the situations of pet owners. It is Covid 19 season, and I am aware adjustments to service need to be made for safety, but Valley Vetco needs to rethink their "protocol". I arrived before 9 am to sign in (name and phone number. No confidentiality.) for service. I signed in on page 3. It looked like there were about 17 people ahead of me. I was told "we don't know" regarding an approximate wait time. (Something like, 'we can see X number of pets per hour', would have been helpful.) I was informed I could only wait in my car and "we will call you". The rules included I could not be outside of my car. When inquiring about safety of the dogs sitting in a car in the heat, I was told, "You have air conditioning, don't you?" I am not a mechanic, but I do not feel it is good for a car to idle with the air on for long periods of time. Also, I believe idling cars contribute to air pollution. (What about the patrons who could not afford to run their car for long periods of time?) I was not feeling good about this, but I have used Valley Vetco for many years for all six of my fur buddies, so I went with it. After periodic check-ins (with a mal attitude each time), and THREE hours, I entered the "No Sit Zone" outside of the shop. I was questioned why I was sitting in the "Zone". I explained I was waiting to be called. The young woman (same one, with an unhelpful attitude, black hair with blue highlights) stated she had already called me. I had not received a phone call. She stated she had called me on a bullhorn. (Why take my phone number?!?) I explained I could not have heard her due to being parked far from the entrance, the air conditioner was on, and the street noise from Montano. She stated, "That's why we tell everyone to leave their windows cracked." (I was not not informed of this.) I stated that I felt their system was lacking. It did not include the health and safety of the patients. I suggested it needed adjustment. She replied, "This is PROTOCOL." Now, I'm hot, tired, frustrated. My two dogs (10 years old) are hot, tired, frustrated and thirsty. No water, no apologies for the miscommunication, just a bunch of defensive attitude. So, now I am allowed to sit in the "Zone". She places me at the end of the list. I am the second to last person seen before they closed. (The last person was an elderly woman with a cane and a sob story). Total time for two dogs to be weighed, be seen (separately) by the doctor, and receive several shots: 4 minutes. As the young woman with the pronounced attitude stated, "You have a choice where you go." I will take that advice. Thank you. read more

I love this vet! They are so friendly, and tell you the prices like it is, which I like. They are the most reasonably priced vet in Albuquerque. It's very clean and organized. I have never had a problem with them at all. They treat my dog just like they would their own, and try to make him feel as comfortable as possible, because we all know that the pups don't like going to vet. HORRIBLE AND RUDE FRONT STAFF! Took my dog to be spayed after being given an estimate and after getting into the clinic the prices had jumped up. Technician that did the intake of my pet did not know the correct pricing. Also after faxing in my records to the clinic my dog was still given the wrong vaccine and all the receptionist could say was "Too Late!" All that had to be done was to go back in the record and change it to a 3yr vaccine. But god forbid we have her do her job!! I was told no records were needed that they would notate on my account about the vaccines. I was also told by the front receptionist that "I shouldn't have gone in there telling them how to do their job." I have been in the field 16 years and know exactly what is required. I felt that was very UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE!! How do they allow someone like that to work their front desk or even hold a job there!! My dog had been rehomed due to my pregnancy and the technicians in the back kept questioning me as to why I was rehoming which in fact was none of their business. My dog was going to a very good home and will be very well cared for!! I received nothing but bad service from this clinic which is infact a "slice and dice" clinic. I was right and early with my pup to get her spayed and to find out she was left in the kennel the whole time and last to be seen. I don't care if it's how it goes but I do not appreciate the lack of professionalism by the staff either. I called to check on my fur baby and the employee that answered was rude. I love this place. The staff are friendly and ALWAYS willing to answer questions. The prices are also extremely reasonable! It is a walk-in clinic so yes the wait times can be lengthy. You certainly don't go to urgent care and expect to be seen in a timely manner so you should know what to expect from all walk-in clinics for humans or otherwise. That being said, I have never minded the wait and, in my experience, it doesn't take as long if you show up towards the end of clinic hours. Everyone is trying to be the first in the door and it just doesn't work out the way you think it will. The staff is always careful and mindful of my pets and I couldnt ask for more.
