I recently moved, and I started renting a storage container from Valtran, at my old address. The closing on my new house kept getting delayed, so I called to cancel the move for the storage container. They moved the container when they were not supposed to anyway (and not even on the day it was originally scheduled to be moved), leaving it in the middle of my 2-car driveway, so that I could not even park in my own driveway. The container was not ready to be moved either, so they also caused an "avalanche" of all my personal property inside the container, damaging several items. I was highly upset, called the company, and was told by Kelly (who used to answer the phone every time I called, and now I am unable to reach her, even when I ask to speak with her specifically) that I would receive a refund of the $370. transportation fee. This was on a Friday of course, so they were "unable" to move the thing back until Monday. So I had to park my car in the street all weekend, instead of my own driveway, and I also lost an entire weekend of loading, because there was no point in fixing the "avalanche", only for it to occur again on Monday when they moved it back. They also waited until AFTER they moved it back, to claim it was "overloaded", and said I could not put anything else in it. This resulted in me having to repack the entire container, which I could have done over the weekend...and you would think that would be something that they would want to notify me of immediately!!! And I also had to hire movers, for $850, to move the rest of my stuff, which I was not planning on! So they caused me quite a delay, and I have reason to believe that the container was never "overloaded" to begin with. The owner of the moving company I hired, told me there is no way that my stuff weighs over 3,500lbs...which I found very difficult to believe anyway, and apparently the driver who told me it was "overloaded', definitely LIED TO ME, because he also claimed that the front of his truck was LIFTING INTO THE AIR. I was later told this is impossible, because the connection would snap/break first. Besides the fact that his truck weighs like 18,000 pounds or something crazy...the driver told me himself...how much weigh would have to be in the container to lift 18,000 pounds into the air??? Come on!!!! So I essentially hired movers, and paid an extra $850 for no reason, except that Valtran employees are a bunch of liars!!! But anyhow, I didn't realize until 3 weeks later, that I never received any refund. I called to inquire about it, and was called back by the owner, who just argued with me, and told me that no one ever told me that. However, I also have 2 text messages, from Kelly's "personal cell phone", stating that I would be refunded the $370. At that point, I felt I had no other choice but to file a dispute against the charge, with my credit card company. Once my credit card company notified Valtran about the dispute, the owner had someone come out to my home, TRESPASS onto my property, and place a lock on my container (that I had paid for that month, and every other month!). When I called Kelly's "personal cell phone" number, the owner answered. He admitted to having the lock placed on my container, as RETALIATION against my credit card dispute. He stated that he would not remove the lock unless I cancelled the dispute, and he also THREATENED TO SEIZE MY PERSONAL PROPERTY. I had several sensitive things still in the container...paperwork, things I've had since I was a child, I also had things in there that my DEAD GRANDMOTHER HAD LEFT ME IN HER WILL. Therefore, due to the fact that the owner himself threatened to STEAL MY PERSONAL PROPERTY, I felt there was no other option but to cancel the dispute. So I was forced to cancel it, then I texted the cell number I had spoken with him on just a couple hours earlier, letting him know it was canceled, and asking him when he was going to take the lock off. This was on 1/9/19. I had just been charged for a month on December 28th, so I was paid through 1/27/19, yet could not access my own personal property, or use the "service" I had paid for in ANY WAY. When I went outside the next morning the lock was gone, so I was forced to take the day off of work so that I could unload the container immediately, otherwise risk having my personal property stolen. As I was finishing unloading the container, a Valtran truck pulls up. I did not call them. I can only assume that they were there to ATTEMPT TO STEAL MY PROPERTY. The driver took the container as soon as I got it emptied. This was on 1/10/19, and again, I have paid them through 1/27/19, and I DID NOT CALL THEM TO PICK UP THE CONTAINER. Valtran terminated my service, even though I had already paid them for the service, through another 2 WEEKS. This company should not even be allowed to continue operating, because apparently the owner thinks he can do whatever he pleases, with no regard to the LAW whatsoever!!! read more
