I waited a few months before posting because I was so frustrated and disappointed by this experience that I wanted time to assess the full extent of the damage and loss before sharing my thoughts. I have moved at least eight times in my life, including a major move from Texas to Massachusetts, and I have never experienced anything close to what happened with this company. When we sold our home sooner than expected, we hired this company to handle our move, store our belongings, and then deliver everything to our new home. We trusted them with nearly everything we owned. That trust was misplaced. I understand that during any move, a few items may get damaged. That's unfortunate but realistic. What is not realistic is arriving at your new home and discovering that approximately 30% of your belongings are damaged, broken, missing, or unusable. Among the damaged items were dishes, glasses, vases, lamps, mirrors, pictures, Christmas trees, furniture, and even our lawn mower, which was nearly new, worth approximately $5,000, and had been used just before we sold our home. Our expensive olive trees arrived broken at the base and were beyond saving. Many boxes were crushed from what appeared to be improper storage and stacking practices. What was perhaps even more frustrating was the complete lack of care shown during delivery. Despite being present and directing movers where items belonged, we continued finding boxes marked "Kitchen" upstairs in unrelated rooms. One member of the crew worked incredibly hard and genuinely seemed to care about doing a good job. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for everyone on the team. The remaining movers appeared far more interested in finishing quickly than ensuring our belongings were handled properly, placed correctly, or reassembled appropriately. Furniture was assembled without consulting us about placement. One bed was put together while three mattresses were simply piled on top of it. Numerous items remained wrapped and unfinished. Moving blankets were left behind. We were handed a box filled with miscellaneous parts that were not labeled, and to this day we still do not know what many of those pieces belong to. The missing items are almost as upsetting as the damaged ones. We are still discovering things that never made it back to us, including batteries for lawn equipment, components for our lawn mower, tanks for our Swiffer systems, the power cord for our $1,800 exercise bike, and countless other items accumulated over years of hard work. Perhaps the most heartbreaking part is the level of disregard shown for belongings that represented years of effort, sacrifice, and memories. My husband and I worked very hard for the things we own. Watching them arrive damaged, destroyed, or missing was incredibly upsetting. Ironically, we tipped the movers because at the time we had not yet uncovered the true extent of the damage. As we unpacked over the following 7 weeks, the reality became clearer and more devastating. We paid approximately $8,000 for moving and storage services. The damage and losses we experienced far exceed that amount. The financial impact has been significant, but the frustration and disappointment have been even greater. Hiring this company was one of the worst decisions we have ever made. If you are considering using them to move and store your belongings, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I would never trust this company with my possessions again.

I asked for a certificate of insurance to call their insurer directly and they completely "ghosted us". Beware of any company that never answers their main number and always goes to a VM. They likely do this to screen their calls and not reply to other customers that have also had complaints/attempted to file a claim for damages.

Had to obtain both movers and a storage facility in the matter of a few days. Sachin, the owner, was very responsive, polite and helpful, including recommending specific folks to talk to at a storage facility nearby which I ultimately used. The movers -- Adam, Chuck, and Tom -- called right on time to tell me they were on their way to my place, at exactly the agreed upon time. They arrived at my place right on time. All three were very professional, friendly, polite, cheerful, and clearly put their experience to good use. The move was swift as could be. Not a ding on anything. They actually made it seem like this was easy -- and I'm sure it wasn't! These guys REALLY went above and beyond ... When we were about to leave for the storage facility, I discovered that my car battery was dead (worst possible timing!). These guys actually pushed my car, physically themselves, so that they could give me a jump from the truck. Way beyond the call of duty! When we arrived at the storage facility, Chuck was particularly helpful in helping me get the best bang for my buck and not over-paying for space I didn't need. He used his experience to eyeball my stuff and let me know which size compartment I needed -- and he was exactly right. As a single woman with some physical limitations due to an autoimmune disease, I can't overstate how much I appreciated how kind and extra helpful these movers were to me. Of course tips are not expected or asked for, but I gave what I could afford -- only wish I could have afforded to give them more. They certainly deserved it. This review is so glowing it doesn't even sound real to me, ha -- but this was the best moving experience I've ever had. Hire this company, and ask for these three guys, and you will be all set.

Do not use this company For the low low price of $1k, I got a move that took 7 hours to go literally around the corner. Things started off badly when it took an additional half hour for the movers to find parking (in the city that they're located in), because they hadn't requested a permit. The crew, "the best crew I have" of three was a 50+ 'foreman' who refused to take apart furniture, a vaping mover who kept complaining to us about the foreman, and the third (just another $20!) mover upsold to us who had clearly never moved anything before. They all disappeared for 20 or more minutes at a time, multiple times, occasionally having to move their truck. Things went from bad to worse when the foreman refused to take apart an ikea couch. I ended up taking it apart myself, in the hallway of my building, after a wasted half hour of him trying to shove it into the elevator despite my increasingly desperate protests. My partner and I ended up disassembling and moving our own kitchen island after the crew refused to do so as well. Our move finally ended, in the rain, seven hours after we had started. When I gave this feedback to the owner of the company, he brushed it aside, and charged me for the full 7 hours, including the wasted time involving the couch and parking. My move took twice as long as necessary because of the crew's lack of ability to function as a unit, and the foreman's insistence that nothing be taken apart. If you have an option, i strongly recommend going elsewhere.

They truly lived up to the name of the company - they were very efficient - and they paid great attention to detail. They were very careful to make sure every piece of furniture was exactly where I wanted it before they left, and anything they took apart to move was in at least as good of shape again afterwards and some things were even better (they fixed a built-in gate for us as they were putting it back on after having removed it, etc.) I would definitely use them again!

8 years ago when I used Burkhardt Movers, I had the most positive moving experience possible…read more Fast forward to 2023, and I wondered if they maintained their excellence. The bottom line is that you shouldn't waste time looking around, just use Burkhardt. One of the owners David came a week before the move, gave me a reasonable estimate and was incredibly personable. Then yesterday they sent two guys (Morgan and Kyle) who were absolutely tremendous. Sometimes you never know what you're getting with movers, but these two guys were courteous, listened to make sure that things were done the way I wanted, and they let me know on multiple occasions that they were dedicated to making sure that the job was done the way I wanted. And to make it even better, they were also focused on being efficient which meant that the move went smoothly and quickly without any feeling that they were cutting corners. It wasn't until later that I found out that Morgan is also a Burkhardt, and it gives me confidence that this company is going to be around for a long time. Moving is usually an emotional affair, but Burkhardt Movers were so fantastic that the sadness of the move was quickly replaced by gratitude for how pain-free they made the move. I had used this company years ago in the early 2000's and had a good experience. However, the time I used them again a few years ago was a nightmare, One of the owners came to my apartment to give me an estimate. I was getting rid of most of my furniture because it was old and/or broken. So basically all I had to move was a bedroom set, a couch, and some boxes. He quoted me two people because I did not have a lot to move. In fact, when I used them before I only had two people because I did not have a ton of furniture but much more than I had this time. Anyway, imagine my surprise when on moving day THREE people showed up. One of them said to me that they didn't have much work that day. Oh so I am supposed to pay for that? They know they have you though because moving is stressful enough without an argument. Plus, I stupidly thought it would go faster. WRONG! They were so slow that even with three of them there would be long gaps between getting furniture. I went outside at one point and saw the three of them just hanging out on the truck. So finally when everything was done I said ok I will meet you at the new place. One of them said, we have to stop at the office real quick. I get to my new place, and it took them over an hour and a half to arrive. I called their cell phone at one point because they had given me the number, but of course they did not answer. So when they finally showed up and moved me in, they way overcharged me. At least a third more than what I was quoted. I was so tired and worn out that I just paid it. I had to return to work the next day so it took me a while to unpack. That's when I started to notice that I was missing things, jewelry, handbags, designer sunglasses, china from my Grandmother, a huge jar full of change, clothes etc. The problem was i could not prove any of it. I also stupidly used bankers boxes so I did not seal them because I have never had a mover steal from me. One of the movers even said to me that I should not have used them! I was too stupid to realize that the reason they took so long to get to my new place was because they were going through my stuff to see what valuables they could take. I am still heartbroken because some of the things they took were family heirlooms which really only had sentimental value. Please do not hire these people at any price! I wish I had brought them to court, and I still might. Anyway, I am hoping I can spare someone else from their thievery.
