I brought a sofa and love seat as well as the warranty plan. The catch is they only come for 3 calls on the warranty plan. No one told me coming to clean the furniture was a warranty call. I have called numerous times about the sofa. Instead of fixing it correctly the FIRST TIME they just cut the metal piece that pierced the other cushion and eventually ripped it. The Customer Service department is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Especially manager Lauren. She had the nerve to say this is a new issue. If you cut away at the frame which is the problem how do you expect it to be fixed. So the foundation is now damaged and so is my cushion now that it is ripped. If I could have given them a ZERO I would. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE. Pay a little more for professional people and quality furniture. I will never shop there again!!! read more

So I didn't end up purchasing furniture here. We came back last 2 Sundays ago and I couldn't find Patel :( so we ended up with this sales guy, and unfortunately I didn't catch his name. He actually made me feel weird as he was following me around asking me all these questions, telling dry jokes and saying quips that made me want to smack him in the face. He kept asking me what my name is and asking what my husband name is about 5 times during our visit, his excuse.."I'm old!". Ummmm how am I supposed to trust you with my order then??? Weird thing, my husband went to use the restroom and when he came out, the salesman cheered at him? Soooo weird. I hate that. That broke the deal.. I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to have Chris help us find our new mattress. We were searching for a replacement and he took the time to really explain everything to us. He never looked annoyed or bothered. Even though we ended up spending more than we planned, I know that we made the best investment. Oh my gosh, it was just awful. After years in sales, I can honestly tell you they need better sales people. We walked in interested in purchasing a grey/gray sectional. I kid you not, she showed us everything but a grey couch! I told her I would just walk around and see what I wanted. Half way through the store she decided to follow us having us test out couches that didnt come in grey. I was BEYOND aannoyed as she wasted alot of our time. I decided to ask her for a booklet to see what else they had. We picked 2 items for a price check, we said thank God because that was the only way for us to discuss the grey options we found alone on the showroom floor in private. She goes to the counter and comes back 10 minutes later to say the system isnt pulling up the price or pictures at the moment. At this point we have to go, so we ask if she can call us to give us a price for the 2 items so that we'll pick one. She responded with a dissatisfied "okay", because she missed out on a sale today. My husband had to take the initiative to give her our number because she wasn't prepared to take it down. She then calls us today(saturday) to tell us she got the prices for the couches. Excited, we ask how much! She then tells us the price for one but then tells us she lost the picture for the other. She made it a point to tell us the sale for the second one will conclude Monday. How the hell did you get that information when you said you lost the picture and couldnt pull it up. We still need a couch but I don't think the headache is worth it. I'll sit on the floor before having to deal with the incompetence of this staff. If picking something out is this irritating, imagine how the logistics of delivery will be! I am writing to hopefully get a resolution to a complaint regarding staff that works for your office in Iselin NJ. I am writing about two separate incidents within a few months. On August 5th 2021 I had arranged an delivery for  a box spring/mattress for my elderly parent on August 5th the delivery man called and threatened to leave delivery location because he was early and didn't want to wait for us to meet them at my parents because he said he had other deliveries.  Customer service did tell them to wait but they were extremely rude. The second incident was September 25th 2021. The delivery man used profanity and was extremely rude toward my spouse not knowing  that I understood the words in their language and he also threw plastic from mattress/box spring all over my front lawn of house. My husband call customer service and they hung up on him. I call back and reached a agent name Carly who was also unprofessional and refused to give out contact information for Corporate office or her supervisor. Went shopping for furniture with my wife as we were updating some rooms in the house. I was very apprehensive about buying from value city based on some of the reviews on here. I asked our salesman Juan a ton of questions and he very patiently and professionally answered them. And he was honest with me and that went a long way towards my being a bit more comfortable making a purchase. We did buy a dining room set from Juan. He got me great credit terms and we arranged for the delivery date. Juan called my wife ahead of the delivery to tell her that he had someone in the warehouse check our furniture to make sure that it was perfect. Nice touch and very much appreciated! Value city called us for our delivery date and they were a week ahead of schedule which was great. They gave us the date of the delivery and a window of when the furniture would arrive. They called me that morning and the furniture arrived right on time and was professionally assembled in our dining room. Looks great and my wife and I are very happy. Beware of Corporate!!!!!I dealt with the store in East Brunswick. Salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. Store Employees were a pleasure to work with Here's where the problem started. We purchased a 3 piece living room set. When the First delivery came one of the couches was unpackaged and the bottom cloth was torn off. My wife brought it to the drivers attention. They loaded it back on the truck and left. She called as soon as the driver left to notify them. They told my wife she should have accepted the delivery and the couch could have been repaired but she was never given that option from the driver. Fair enough. When the new couch was delivered it had a loose back panel(cardboard). We accepted the delivery and called for a repair. The repairman came a week later and attempted to repair it but couldn't. He told us that he would report the problem and have the couch replaced We didn't hear from them so I called and asked what the status of the replacement was. They told me they closed the file because of non covered abuse of the couch. I told them they must be mistaken because I just received the delivery and reported it right away. Plus I purchased the service plan. I was told that the repairman told them that I was hitting the back of the couch and broke it. I was told a supervisor would call within 2 business days. They have some nice pieces on the show floor but be wary as they don't have the same pieces to ship to you. the sectional I picked out needed a 'special order'. They promised me the feel/comfort level will be the exact same of the model on the floor. Boy did I learn the hard way. Sectional came, looks great - size was right but the feel and comfort was terrible. Did not feel anything like the piece on the floor. I even went back into the showroom to talk to them about it and they explained that it needed to break in. Bull - as I've been sitting on it for 2 weeks with no sign of change. I called the company manager, who then transferred me to someone else who transferred me to someone else 3 more times. Until which the number just dropped on me After being on the phone for an hour. Never again will I ever buy anything from this company..purchased a sectional and 5 years of repair..not knowing they did not cover any pet stains I called and put a claim in due to my 3 pound dog peeing on the couch...now my couch is no longer covered she said its voided..Really I said...but here is the best part..if an adult pees Its Covered! She said for health reasons they couldn't come and clean!! Like I'm not going to try my best to get it cleaned before they came!! How does that work!! Horrible company. While shopping for a bedroom set I had told the sales woman that we must have delivery by Easter as we were having company she guaranteed it. Come Easter no delivery. Then she try selling me a more expensive set in order to get delivery in time for Easter. They delivered part of the bedroom set but not the bed itself. We had also ordered a wall mirror and they told me that had arrived broken. I told them to please deliver the bed and mirror at the same time since my husband and I did not want to take multiple days off of work and wait for delivery. This past Sunday they delivered the bed but not the mirror. The delivery man told me there was no new mirror and they were trying to send me the floor model. When I called the company they told me that that mirror had been discontinued and they didn't make it anymore and if I wanted the floor model he would give me a discount. So I went in to look at it and agreed to take it. But then the manager said oh I can't give you a discount. I didn't wanna argue and just wanted this to be over so I said OK. I told the manager my mom had just passed away on Sunday and I was only home for a couple days and could not take more time off of work. I told him the times and days I would be home. He called the shipping supervisor and guaranteed me a time and date when I would be home. I got a phone call today about delivery and it was not when I would be home. I called the company once again and they said he never should've guaranteed you that and we can only deliver when we said. At that point I just said cancel. My husband and I have had nothing but run around with this company who obviously do not care about their clients. I have video and willing to share that a employee from they claim department came and cut my furniture up with a razor and damaging the fabric pulling it apart from the frame. I have a 5 year warranty and was told it was voided because of wear and tear and the claim was for broken wood. I would never in my life buy from them again and will continue to fight. Please don't shop here. I bought a table set only a year ago. I took out the 5 year warranty which at this time I needed to use. I had a problem with one of the chairs. They sent a tech out to see if it could be fixed which of course it couldn't be. So he put in a report to have a new chair or new cushion orders. The store not the customer claims department never called me. He was 3 weeks I waited until I called them and no one helped me. I cannot discredit anyone else's experience, but I will comment on the superb service I recieved. I recently moved to a new home and was in the market for some new furniture. VC was recommended by a friend of mine. I was warmly greeted by a sales person, Tiffany, when I entered the store. I didn't have an idea about what I wanted, but Tiffany showed me a variety of pieces and was very knowledgeable about each one. She took great care of me and was very patient with me, especially when I know I was indecisive. She was very professional and her level of customer service was like seeing a unicorn....unbelievably awesome. I was in sales many moons ago, and I can tell you that Tiffany could probably sell salt to a slug. This was a very smooth transaction. I highly recommend this store, and even more, ask for Tiffany. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Terrible branch, don't go here. Ordered a kitchen table in August for a delivery the week we were to move into our apartment, one month later. My wife and I purchased a door buster sofa on 12-1-15 from this place. It was estimated to arrive around the week of 12-15-15. We ordered one of the sofas that was allegedly available. We told the sales person we would like the sofa before New Years and he replied it would arrive well before New Years as it was not a special order. Fast forward to the week of Christmas and we still did not receive a call from the store. We had to leave town during the week of the 15th but still no call. Value City Furniture sucks. I spend so much money on my furniture. I had my furniture delivered on Friday December 21, 2018. My dresser has scratches on it. I was promised that I will have my chest by the end of December 2018. That never happened so I cancelled it. I had to go to the store to cancel it. At that time I had scheduled for someone to come out to my house to fix the scratches on my dresser. They were supposed to come today Saturday January 26, 2019. I received a phone call this morning at 8:09 a.m. from the person who was supposed to come to my house today. He cancel because he's sick. I called Value City. They don't have a backup or anything. I waited over a month to have this fixed because it was delivered to me with scratches on it. I am a very unhappy customer. They are inconvenient me and it's like no one cares. Well what can I say about this poor excuse for a furniture store...My husband and I decided to take advantage of the President's Day "sale" last weekend and we should've known it was too good to be true. After looking at a few places, we decided to go with "the most popular" sectional Value City has to offer. It looked almost identical to the beloved one we had at home that had 8 years of wear and tear on it which brought us to our search in the first place. Our salesman, whom was great and unfortunately I forgot his name, passed us off to another guy named Scott- the "deal closer" so to speak. He took us over to his computer and we decided on a delivery date, which to our delightful surprise, would be only a week away and on a Sunday no less so neither of us would have to miss a workday. Scott assured us we would receive a phone call the day before the delivery date. No such call ever came- so my husband called Value City and wouldn't you know it, our order was NEVER PLACED! And the poor girl on the phone said since the warehouse had already closed for the weekend ( then how were we ever gonna receive the couch on a Sunday then??) that we wouldn't have an answer until the following Monday. Do not do business with these morons. They don't even offer to take away your old furniture. By far the absolute worst experience I've had with purchasing anything , EVER. Went to the Woodbridge location purchased a couch, living room and dining room table. Gave the sales associate,Mike, the dimensions of my front door, was reassured the couch would fit and that if needed the delivery crew would remove packing/legs of the couch to make it fit. None of that was true. Not only did the couch not fit, the drivers will not remove anything off of the furniture. When I called to speak to mike as to how we can resolve the issue, he told me it made no difference whether or not my furniture made it into my home. No difference. I was offered no solution. I had to refuse the couch. I then decided to go to the green brook location, when I gave the sales associate the dimensions to my door he informed me they carried NOTHING that would fit. I kept my tables that fit with no issues, refunded the couch and took my business somewhere else. A month later (today) I received a call from my original associate letting me know my couch has arrived and I can set up my new delivery date. I never ordered anything else. Nothing. Couldn't offer me an explanation couldn't offer me an apology, nothing. I've probably spoken to everyone customer service has to offer. A nightmare of an experience and I still don't have a refund for the original couch. I will never be back here. Never recommend this company. I regret the time I have given to value city. Anything can happen when furniture is delivered. We had 3 pieces delivered and sent back because of damage. It was disappointing but the drivers got people on the phone and we were told they could deliver another set the next day. The warehouse and the salesman Ted Jenerson all said they would call us by 10am the next day. At 11:30 I called Ted and was told by him he was working on this. He never explained why he didn't call as promised but promised to call me back in a few minutes. That call never came. Twice he said he would call and twice he didn't. The store called to reschedule for later in the week.. What?? yesterday we were promised it would be today. After going back and forth with a supposed supervisor they offered to knock $100 of our almost $4,000 order. Not one person owned this mess up. It was the factory, the drivers, the warehouse.... not one person owned this and Ted has yet to call. Things happen but they broke all trust. They failed big in customer service. I bought a $1700 couch on September 20th that was promised would be delivered to the warehouse in about 10 days. I didn't hear anything so I called on October 11, where then I was told my purchase was delivered to the warehouse, and that they had no idea why I wasn't called and informed. The delivery was scheduled for October 16th. The movers called at 10am and said they'd be there at 11am, so my fiancé left work to make sure he'd be there in time. Nobody comes til 12:02, but of course there was no courtesy call to let us know they're running late. The movers did not speak English at all, and at 12:12 said "no fit" and left lol. $1700 and I only get a 10 minute effort. They wouldn't even try the back door. I called customer service who wouldn't put me on the phone with a supervisor, my fiancé also called and was denied to speak to a supervisor too. We were straight up told there was nothing they could do for us, and I'd have to go to the store in person.
