My two issues with this motel were about corporate choices. First -- I think the breakfast selections on offer are strange, very much not to my taste. This has been true of every Towneplace we've stayed at. Second, the handicap shower plumbing didn't work very well. The cable to the handheld showerhead was too short and also leaked. The grab bars in the shower are polished chrome and were very slippery when wet. Again -- these were choices made at the corporate level.

Yea! a large pet walk area is shared with neighboring properties and looks tidy and the exercise equipment is current but the laundry could use a refresh and the rooms and decor are dated and the common areas could stand some paint but those aren't even real things because renovations started last week (9-Dec-23) and should finish in January 2024 I expect they'll keep the basic layout with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and cooktop - no actual oven so frozen pizzas are out.

As soon as I walked into the office I thought for sure id be met by some grumpy old guy who hates tourists and is rude like most of the other motels around. But NO!!!! I was met by a very pleasant lady who goes by the name Smita. I was so taken back by her professionalism that I had to bring it her attention. She was very polite and we had a nice chat about the other motels, one in particular (Dolly's Villa Vista) where the manager is super rude and the rooms look like they haven't been remodeled in at least 30 years. After my card was processed I ended up $6 short on the room and she was so kind to just say don't worry about. I was very thankful and told her I'd leave her a review after my stay. Well... I kept my promise and just want to say that the ElRancho has been an excellent overall experience. Thanks Smita for everything! Next time in the area im definitely staying here. Ten out of ten

Breakfast was good and I had one of the best English muffins that took me like 20 minutes to toast (ok, not that long), but I got it nice and crispy. Yum! I'd stay here again for a night if I needed to be close to the airport. But if I was staying longer, I'd find something with a bigger room.

We were able to walk around the property and were impressed by the landscaping and the care taken in the parking lot area. The rooms were clean and perfect for our stay. I enjoyed the lighting as well as the sunlight from the windows. We had two rooms and both were excellent. We met up for breakfast the next morning and were surprised by the quality and selection that was available. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, hash browns, and fresh made wheat toast. Everything tasted as good as it looked! It's nice that they have coffee available all day long in the dining area. Better than average coffee flavor and aroma! There are many great restaurants nearby. You can walk or take Uber or Lyft. Cars are conveniently parked in either the front or the back of the building. Each room is named after a region known for it's wine - we were in the Stellenbosch room - a leopard print chair, some giraffes and travel books for Africa embellished the room. Themes are fun. The shower was amazing! Multiple shower heads - I couldn't help but sing "Africa" by Toto. The bed was super cozy. We ended up locking ourselves out of our room very early in our stay. At a normal hotel, that's an easy fix, just head down to the front desk. At the Sheridan Hotel, the office hours are sporadic. We didn't know if we were going to be able to get back in. Luckily, we heard papers rustling inside the locked office and knocked. The owner was insider and she was incredibly nice and helped us out. Phew! The hours for the restaurant downstairs were strange too - closed on Mondays. Open only for brunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, then open full service the rest of the week. We had lunch there on Tuesday and it was delicious (Applewood Salad for me and my husband had the Chicken Panini - we both cleaned ours plates). There is plenty of parking and the building has a large lobby inside. It's a 3 story property and the hallways were being remodeled during my stay so they are trying to keep the property in good shape. My room was large and pleasant to stay in with a good working air conditioner and adequate sized bathroom. Breakfast each morning was the standard Comfort Inn type of some kind of eggs, and meats with waffles, cereals, yogurts, bread, etc. It served its purpose. Also the Wi-Fi worked very well. I give a 3 score because this hotel met my expectations and I would be glad to stay here again.

Price per night was reasonable, checking in and out was east and straight forward, there were no surprises with fees or taxes. Our room was clean and couldn't hear our neighbors. We were on the second floor and our room was adjacent to a stairwell. We did not hear screaming kids or slamming doors. Breakfast was totally decent with waffles, cereal, eggs and sausage, several different varieties and flavors of yogurt, several varieties and flavors of cream cheese, and ample seating. There was an adult pool, hot tub, and kids pool with fountains and a small slide. There were some flaws to the room, as pictured below. These are things that are completely easy to find if you're looking for maintenance improvements. The bathroom door was almost impossible to close without forcing it shut and then of course very difficult to open without putting your shoulder into it, towel holders and curtain rods were coming out of the wall or from the wall, and I was surprised that this was considered a handicap accessible room, as the tub was raised about a foot and a half from the floor from where they "replaced" the old tub by placing the new one on top, and the hot and cold temperature handle was reversed. It would be difficult to navigate the room in a wheelchair with tighter spaces between the desk and the wall. Things to think about.
