Terrible shopping experience. I visited the store yesterday and had several clothing items in my cart, only to find out they no longer have fitting rooms--despite being primarily a clothing store and previously offering them. Because of that, I considered putting everything back and leaving without making a purchase. However, an employee assured me that I could buy the items, try them on at home, and return them within 14 days if they didn't work out. Based on that assurance, I made the purchase. Today, when I attempted to return the items, I was told that returns were not allowed--only exchanges. Shannon, the manager, repeatedly insisted the employee would have said "exchange," not "return." I'm absolutely certain the employee said "return," because I never would have spent money there otherwise. To make matters worse, the prices are extremely high, and they are a donation based company. So they are pricing items they receive for 100% free for a ridiculously high amount. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience. I won't be shopping or donating there again. read more

This thrift store is FOR profit. People donate everything for free, they price clothes and items for almost retail, and they profit and pocket 100%. Their prices are outrageous. Shame on them. They aren't giving back to the community. Please donate your items elsewhere. read more

witnessed them kick out 2 teenage girls for just shopping, and when the girls asked about why they were getting kicked out, the employee responded with "because of previous shopping habits" and then refused to elaborate or show evidence. the girls were visibly upset when they left the store and the workers would not even let them buy anything they had in their cart. read more

I've always really liked this place, until recently I started noticing their prices are sky high. They were selling so many things priced way above what they would normally cost. They were selling figs for $25 and mind you, they're $38 brand new. I just think now they're jumping into the goodwill bandwagon and hiking up prices! read more

Very overpriced! I saw a Pink (Victoria's Secret) sweater for nearly $20.00 and a L.Pulitzer cardigan for $68.99! The cardi still has its tags on, but in my honest opinion it should not cost that much at a thrift store. read more

Way overpriced. I got a brand new pair of pants at walmart for 9 bucks... VV wanted 10 bucks or better for USED PANTS. I will not be back.

The staff are helpful and trying their best but the way most customers treat this particular store is beyond shameful. I understand that some of the prices are high for a thrift store, but at least show some respect for the store. If you want to drink coffee, fine, but take your trash with you instead of leaving it on the shelf. Another disturbing thing is that children are often left unattended, especially in the toy section. On a positive note, you can find the hard to find gems once in a while. read more

I love Value Village but they have become so overpriced, you might as well just shop new. It's absolutely ridiculous. Even items that are clearly not in great condition are priced like they're brand new which completely defeats the purpose of thrift shopping. Came to look for a baseball mitt so I can toss a ball in the air and catch it, ALONE. Anyway, they have a TON of books up in herrr! And very reasonably priced. AND, they're even ORGANIZED! How often does that happen!? Wow. I found a travel book in fantastic condition reg price $29 that I got for $2.99! Sweet! And right near the books are CDs. Compact discs!!!! I have a compact disc player in my car, so this was a welcome find. Dang I found a bunch but the one I settled on, for also $2.99, was Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits. SCORE!! Well this find put a pep up in this step and I started to leave when remembered I needed a shaker bottle thingy for workouts. THEY HAD ONE!!!!!!! $3.99! Good grief! I also browsed the clothes and of course looked for that baseball mitt, but they had NO mitts. Or balls for that matter! The prices on clothes are a little steep for second hand stuff, when I just got a work shirt brand new from Walmart for $3.89 . Some prices are fair, to be noted, but a majority of the clothing is a couple bucks more than I'd expect. There are a ton of home stuff like cups and plates and Mugs and stuff like that too. Like any 2nd hand place, it's always hit and miss with selections. This place however is huge, and clean. Most of the staff is helpful, there are some less than staff members, eclectic, maybe even colorful in a very bad 1980's way and you'll want to avoid asking for any help from them, you'll just get wrong answers or shrugs read more

Prices are high to begin with for used donated items. I do like to buy second hand though. With the understanding that dressing rooms are not available during the pandemic, You would think they would forego their company policy and modify it for these trying times to allow returns for refund. Especially when you spend $35 for a pair of used jeans. This policy is unacceptable for exchange only in a pandemic when you have to go home to try something on. read more

Thrift stores tend to have a negative connotation. They're dingy, dark, disorganized and they seem to always have that funny smell. Well, they are selling used products... so, go figure! However, who says thrift stores have to be all of the above? During a trip to Fairbanks Alaska, I happened across Value Village while window shopping stores nearby my hotel. Located next to Sears on Airport Way, I decided to give it a try. I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Though not exactly smelling like brand new car (oh well :), Value Village was definitely a well-lit, clean and organized store. All their clothes were nicely hung on their racks. Books and videos were all shelved and organized in categories. Even hard to organize items like unboxed toys and electronics were put in their place. One example was a wall filled with various personal electronics placed in clear plastic bags and hung on pegs. I've never seen such meticulous care put forth on something that's a nightmare to maintain as a display. Instead of a bin filled with clutter you have to sift through, you have every item neatly packaged with their appropriate instructions, power adapters, etc. Obviously, I was impressed. Giving this display a look-over, I was surprised to find what I thought was a 35mm camera with small view screen. HUH? As it turned out, this clunker was actually an HP 1 megapixel digital camera. Complete with working batteries and a 8MB Compact Flash card, this paperweight of a digital camera was in working order (i.e. see default profile pic). In lieu of spending $60-$80 for a kid-proof camera at a toy store, I decided to buy this HP camera for my 3 year old son. What's my final price? $5... out the door! That was the price on its bag + Fairbanks has no local sales tax. If that wasn't a bargain, I don't know what is. If you don't mind getting more for your money, you should shop at Value Village. Even if you can't stand shopping at your typical thrift store, stop by and take a look inside. Your perception of this store may change for the better. :) read more

yeah, so i'm a thrift store junkie. so much so, that, you know, i don't really like posting my fav stores to the interwebs for all you kids to go and pick 'em over. I'm an old hipster and i can't keep up with all you whipper-gothers. ok, so this is your typical savers-type mega store (both owned by the same company) that has lots of stuff... everyone in there swears they have a 5000 item quota everyday. yeah right! but still decent turnover... the one downside is that everybody in there is totally bizarre. one lady at the registers (who announces over the pa the daily specials and child safety rules) used to live "off the grid" and didn't speak to anyone for over two years. another girl is totally uninterested in being there, like she is doing this to fulfill some court-ordered community service. she'll snap, "nothing's half off for YOU today, it's SENIOR day.!!!" finally, the lady with the beehive runs the place, and is a real whip-cracker. so if you come in, buy the girl stuff or the short guy's trousers. that's right, i say "trousers" and not "pants". read more

This place is a bit of a toss up. You can find some really cool things here as I have but you can also just find a lot of junk like used pencils in a bag for $2 or someshit. Its also a bit pricey in later years. Ive always loved going to a thrift store to find some cheap things I needed but it is getting worse and worse with their pricing. shirts range from about 5-20 witch I think is crazy when you can brand new clothes for that or cheaper so beware. read more

I love our value village. I have found incredible deals and the variety is phenomenal. Even more important, they take covid-19 seriously and announce over the intercom that if you forgot your mask you should come back another time to shop. I wish grocery stores would do that. read more

I have been a Value Village shopper and generous donator for several years. In July, I took a sizeable donation of a variety of things. They gave me a discount coupon and a coupon for a free book. I thought it was pretty cool. On August 7th, my husband and I went shopping and he picked out a couple of books. Imagine my surprise when the clerk said this coupon expired July 31st. We said, but you just gave it to us a few weeks ago. They absolutely refused to honor a $3.00 coupon over 7 days. I am all done shopping or donating there. read more

For a thrift store... well the best part is finding that old piece of clothing or item, that is a gem. Thrift stores allow you to put together a wardrobe that is unique. And that is the thing that I want, plus if you are a Young Life leader... well Value Village is the place you want to shop... you will find most if not all of your costume that you need for that up coming walk on character. read more

Everything was overpriced for a thrift store but again, we're in AK, right? But I did manage to get a few mugs for between .49-.99 which worked out for me.
