This was my favorite store but this past Saturday 2/27 after finally "going out " since the arctic storm and Covid I witness a sexual assault inside the store. An older man was throwing items on the floor and would pick them up to look under a woman's dress!! I panic, I inform the woman, confronted the man but he walked out! I froze for a moment but managed to take picture of him walking away. I reported the assault to an employee, hoping they could possibly review video footage and place a notice in the entrance( like the have for theft ) . The employee went to speak to the manager, she did not come out but had the employee ask me for proof and why was I reporting it now if the man had already left. It was such a traumatic experience! The majority of the customers at the store are women with children After what I witness, don't feel safe at this store and concern that Value village did did nothing to help their customers. I've emailed them and left review on google that keep disappearing Please pay attention to your surrounding at the store. read more

Reviewing for women's clothing, accessories, and shoes only. Didn't look for tools, furniture, household goods, or children's or men's clothing. I'm a lifelong thrifter, who loves the thrill of The Find. But I've never seen such an unfavorable environment for shoppers. --No sizes on the racks, so one must shuffle through clothing rack by rack to find one's size. "Medium" includes sizes up to 14, which is atypical. Shoes and accessories are arranged in no apparent order, without sizes and often without prices. --Price markings are often illegible on shoes and clothes, and not all that low. --No dressing rooms, not even a mirror! What does it cost to put up some mirrors? --Cash only, no credit cards, no Apple Pay, no returns, no refunds. Really, under these conditions it doesn't matter what they have. Shop somewhere that minimally respects its customers. read more

I was on the hunt for some items for my birthday trip, luckily I stumbled on some treasures at this Value Village, a brand spankin new New Balance Tennis bag, perfect for my cameras, and a 35MM film camera (needs some repairs but for $18.81 what a find), a gorgeous burgundy fur trim coat and some cute intimates, including a nightgown from Victoria's secret. The customer service was excellent, friendly and always saying hello. I have to say I was shocked as I do not frequent thrift stores, however, I did today and the experience was impressive. My roommate bought two pair of designer jeans & an Under Armor shirt, as well as a Wii fitness board .....I got a pair of Rockport black dress shoes and a pair of black tactical work pants. Right now on FB the have a 50%off coupon so we spent 26$ !!!! Wow!!! I must say that this was an eye opening experience! Great Store & Keep Up the Outstanding Work. The Value Village on Gessner and I have known each other since high school. Back then it proved to be a treasure trove of the pearl snap shirts I was always after. It was also pretty reliable for vintage or tacky clothes I needed for costume parties and what not. Through college and beyond I can remember picking up a three-piece brown polyester suit and going as Brick Tamland for Halloween. The best part was that it was always so cheap: shirts for a couple bucks, suits maybe $5. You can try trendy vintage shops, but if they're billed as such, you could wind up breaking the bank. Go to the source, the dusty thrift stores, for the cheap stuff. The place is rather expansive, with large men's, women's, and children's sections. Boots and shoes, books, kitchen gadgets, even some old jewelry and watches. I've never understood buying underwear second-hand at a thrift shop, but they have that too. These days I try to stop by from time to time, to see if they have any vintage sport coats with elbow patches, and especially in December to see if they have any gloriously tacky Christmas sweaters. The fine specimen you see in my profile was obtained last year for $2. Amazing. How does one rate a thrift shop? I don't know, but I'm certainly a fan of Value Village - it's been there for me as long as I've been dressing myself, obnoxiously or otherwise. read more

Ugh. No. Don't bother. I've been to many Value Villages in my life and this is by far in the bottom quartile. There is a big selection here, and you may be able to find something wonderful if you really try. But in my experience at this VV, you'll find items that are good from afar, but far from good. Horrible and dirty location . Parents let their kids run wild like stallions and one almost knocked my disabled elderly mom down and almost knocked me down. Parents treat this like a free daycare and Mgmt does absolutely nothing to stop it . Prices are way too high and most items are stained or damaged in some way . read more

I was trying to find me a vest/shirt/tie for my halloween costume, so I decided to go here, First time inside a thrift store and the last one for sure, lasted a total of 58 seconds in there, don't get me wrong the store was pretty well stocked, the shirts/tops were fixed by color, it was easy to find what I needed. Now it had that distinctive "old" smell and obviously the clothing was used so TO ME was a bad experience I imagined a store like that being different (dunno where I got the idea from), I couldn't even touch anything, It was a little bit of a cultural shock. The clothes here are very big as well so it would be hard for someone small like me to find anything that fits. You would have to get it altered I suppose. As an avid thrift shopper and connoisseur of only the finest thrifted clothing and goods let me just tell you right now that this place is an actual hunting grounds for others just like me! Dont expect to immediately find something perfect on your first visit, but dont be foolish enough to only visit once MUAHAHA If you live near this store, and you take pride in yourself as a thrifter, you need to be checking in on this place almost every week. I once walked in scouting for a sweet used motorcycle helmet to fit my homie's big ole head(which i found for an amazing price in this same store later that month) and found myself face to face with some wicked old 1990's paintball pants and matching jersey, together worth almost $200! I picked them out and headed to register without a second thought, and would you believe my surprise when my total was less than $20! WOW. I don't know why this place doesn't have higher reviews. Granted, it isn't a trendy, boutique type thrift store- so that may have something to do with it, but if you are looking for casual staples like jeans, tees & warm jackets for winter, this is the spot. I've gotten hollister denim & other terrific finds I've worn over & over. You have to have plenty of time to look as the items aren't sized but it's worth it for me. Also, rarely a long line to pay. I don't have kids but I've noticed a decent baby/kids clothing area. Check it out. read more

This is not a place I frequent any longer. This was at one time a great place but I stopped going for many reasons. 1. The bathroom reeks 2. Everyone talks in Spanish and no one no knows English 3. The manager is rude and a thief 4. I cut my finger and all they gave me was a band-aid 5. Broken glass everywhere in housewares 6. Items get sold even if they look like they belong in a dumpster 7. Store itself smells of feces 8. They sell FAKE Louis Vuitton and COACH handbags and pass them as real/genuine ones 9. They go up on prices after you ask them how much something is 10. They are thieves, not worth your time This is not a place of all the VV's that you want to stop in. Stear clear. You're asking for trouble when you set foot in this store. Love this place!! So many great items and at great prices! My first time, I went on a 50% off Wednesday and, though the place was packed and parking was tough, I was very happy with the experience. The line was somewhat long, but moved rather quickly. The only issue I had was that there were no available carts since they were so busy. However, one very nice lady found me in the store after she checked out and gave me the one she was using. Lastly, the employees are all very nice! Overall very happy! read more

from what i remember: - average prices [for a thrift store] and lots of stuff to look through. - very dusty and hands were sticky afterwards [take claritin and bring antibacterial!] - no fitting rooms! they only had 2 thin mirrors that were warped. - different specials each day - they take cash only - korean grocery store next door that i always visited afterwards bc i was always so thirsty after thrifting for some reason! i haven't been there in a few years because i don't have the patience to look through every single item to find something i like and i'm also very picky with the clothing i wear so i hardly find anything. HOWEVER, i've had a couple very good experiences there including finding a pair of leopard pony hair MANOLO BLAHNIK heels priced at $3!!!! and it was half off shoes that day so i paid $1.50. i was very proud that day haha i would probably go again only when i need something for a costume. read more

I've been going to this thrift shop for years and years, and yes it is a bit dusty and a little dirty, but it's definitely not as bad as everyone else is making it out to be. The prices are incredible, every third Wednesday of the month, everything is 50% off. There's a big selection, so you need to be patient to find some awesome things. I you are in the market for men's polo shirts you're in luck; the racks are stuffed with them, including plus sizes. Once in a while I find something good but I am not going so often any more. I got a "Real Purses" purse for $3 which I was happy to find. The place is filthy, and there are no fitting rooms. If there is any irregularity with the tag, forget it. They won't sell it. My husband found a suit jacket he wanted for a costume, but the tag (and price) said "2 pieces". The other piece was nowhere to be found, and they would not sell just the jacket. Time wasted. Not all Value Villages are created equal. I went to the Heights location earlier today and was able to buy hangers. I needed more so I came to this one. Waste of time. Why is there only one employee here who only speaks Spanish? When I walked in I asked the cashier (with a kid translating) where can I find hangers to buy. She pointed to the back corner. I get to the back corner and there's a box of hangers. Perfect I thought. I grab a stack and head to check out. After waiting 10 minutes for the family in front of me to checkout (eye roll), I place the hangers on the counter and say "Cuantó?" This heifer laughs and says "No." What's so funny? This is what was where YOU pointed. I stood there until she could find someone who spoke English to translate. The lady who translated told me it's only plastic hangers that are sold (eye roll). Would have been nice for that to be clear when I first asked about hangers. I'm going to assume that despite this being a mixed area, this Value Village is for Spanish speakers only. read more

She changed it to 10 times the amount that was CLEARLY MARKED on them and refused to acknowledge the posted price. I've been a loyal regular for years and they tried to cheat me. I heard of this place and I determined I would go..I appreciate vintage..so when I stumbled upon the "oldies " article of clothing and they were priced at 1.88 it was " ON" majory! I also fond a 100% leather jacket calf length oldies style, with the waist belt buttons and all in tack. I love my items and I have re-framed myself from returning only because I know I need to clean out my closet first. I have no complaints at all. read more

This is probably the dirtiest location I have been to in Houston; and not dirty as in unorganized, just dirty like there feels like there is a thick layer of grime on everything you touch in the place. It's odd. BUT its Value Village, so if you weren't prepared to get dirty and dig, then you already came to the wrong store. Staff is nice enough, it never seems too busy, and there are gems to be found for the patient. Get some caffeine, bring your headphones and bottle of antibac and dig, and you will find some great vintage stuff in the racks. read more

I did not like this Value Village, at all. I've been to all of them in Houston and this one sucks. First of all, you should know that when I visit a thrift store, I am looking for lovely vintage finds. For example, 80s blazers, acid washed jeans, chiffon "granny" dresses, sheer blouses, leather belts, sequin dresses and trophy jackets. This store had a FEW of these things, but not many. The clothing selection for women is not as large anyway. But, the items that I have found are usually overpriced for some reason, compared to other Value Villages. For instance, I once picked up two vintage Indian/Ethnic/Navajo looking sweaters from the Value Village on Bissonett for $7 total. There were similar sweaters at this location for $15 a piece. That is outrageous, right? The store is also not that clean, kinda dirty. read more

Only giving a single star. So , I went up to the register with one speaker from a pair of speakers and told the girl I'd have to make two trips to my truck because I couldn't carry both speakers. I hand the cashier a $20.00 bill for the speakers and she checks me out, then I tell her. and I'll be right back for the other speaker....she then tells me that the price was for one speaker. After I questioned her, along with the person in line behind me who said "who sells one speaker from a pair?"...she asked one of the people working there to ask the manager. So she comes back and said the price was for a single speaker. I asked for my money back since I didn't want to pay twice the amount listed on the pair of speakers. She could not give me a refund, even though I had not left the register, and had given her a $20 bill....ridiculous. So she then writes on my 2" receipt "Credit $13.62"....I go to this store at least twice a week during my lunch break and spend money there. NO MORE. I'll get $13.62 in merchandise, IF they honor this hand written credit and will NOT spend a penny more at this store. NO customer loyalty....no store loyalty. read more
