Very, very, very overpriced. I'm not from the area and I'm used to fair and normal thrift prices ($3.50-$7 for shoes and $6 for tops). Shoes at Value World were priced around $20 each depending on the brand including fake Tory Burch sandals that were total garbage. They also STAPLE the tags thru the cloths causing holes. friday August 15th there was a white women in shorts and pink tank top and pink slippers... apparently she worked in the back but she had no uniform on. I was looking at the electronics and see an airfryer priced for 100$ . it was actually fairly new so I thought that was fair because that brand is 300+ . next to it was an old rusty juicer. not clean and taped up so it wouldn't fall apart. i asked for the price and this lady just scribbles 89.99$ on there without even looking at the item. she was clearly bothered I asked her to do her job. the juicer was clearly not 90$ worth AND im not sure where she even got that price point from. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Whoever does pricing should be fired. Over triple of what you can buy them brand new. One price was wiped off but there was another of the exact same figure for 49.99 which you can buy brand new at 10 dollars. So instead of matching the 49.99 price she says it's 69.99 instead. My girlfriend wanted a pair of really nice ripped jeans and a lulu lemon jacket. A LULU LEMON jacket. she's been looking for a good cheap pair of jeans for a long time now. They both didn't have any price tags on them. Cashier lady was super rude and wouldn't let us get them because the tags a were ripped off. Very rude old woman. she was very nasty to us and being super rude saying how she can't sell them to us even though we've bought stuff before with no price tags. why couldn't she just throw a price on them? she's told us to come in before they open tomorrow so we can get the pants and jacket or else she will put them in the back. worst experience i've ever had at this store. read more

Mystery shopping days are a fail. I was in the Taylor location on a non mystery day , 2 loud women were cramming clothes , toys in their baskets. Cashier reminds everyone on pa that it's not half off day. The ladies start cussing throwing a fit.That state it's the right day and that want there discount. Cashiers were professional and said no it's tomorrow. They badger her into saving the baskets til tomorrow. I always regret stepping foot in this thrift shop. It's dirty and it's chock-full of clothes that are 20 years old. Another gripe is that it doesn't have a dressing room and, conveniently, they do not accept returns. If their prices were rock-bottom, that wouldn't sting so bad, but since they still charge $6-$8 for jeans, it is pretty shitty. I probably wouldn't hate this store so bad if they didn't absolutely stuff their racks to the point it's impossible to browse. They have no discretion with what they put out for sale, so you'll be searching through a lot of duds before you find something appropriate for today's attire. This place is the worst Value World location in Southeast Michigan. Terrible selection and its a complete disaster in every single area! All of the shirts/sweaters fall off the hanger the second your touch them- it's a completely pain trying to go through any rack of clothes. There is a disgusting smoke smell throughout the place that was so bad I got sick to my stomach. The cashier insisted to the manager that I not get the 50% off because I was $2 under the $25 minimum. Really? I had to go around the store LOOKING for another item to add just so I could get the discount. Normally I had EXTRA things I want that I have to chose between. When I asked about the shoes behind the counter the cashier said "Oh, those are high end shoes", not even attempting to help me look at them. Their knockoff Coach purses are priced around $80-$100! I was at your Taylor location, and I will have to admit you have some kind and most hopeful employees. I am a young father and have a daughter and as you can imagine its difficult. I dont know what little girls like or what they're supposed to need. I was shopping on your tiny tott wall this past Saturday. Standing there trying to pick out what's appropriate for my little girl, one of your employees seen me and approached with a smile asking if I needed help which I took. Great value and reasonable prices. If you get a coupon, the prices are an unbelievable best price ever! Most of their locations are busy and go through merchandise quickly. The stores may not always have the best organization, no problem! There is always plenty of choices , selection, something for everyone , including families, and shopper's on a limited budget. I'm gonna pop some tags only got $20 in my pocket.....okay, now that that's out of way onto my review! I for one do not care for Value Worlds in general, and let me tell you why. The prices are a bit "odd" for the items. Some are priced waaaay to high while sometimes you may find a great steal. The store and the way the merchandise is presented can be a bit overwhelming. The toy area is a complete cluster f*ck. For a visual just picture a child's room that hasn't been cleaned in over a month. If something does not have a price tag they will not sell you the item. Do they really think a staple will stick to an item forever!?! But if your lucky you will choose an item that is written in that nasty red wax crayon they use. If your into the whole thrift shop motif I suggest The Goodwill stores. All items are the same price ex: shirts $2, dress $5 and so on and so fourth. read more

The Value World in Taylor MI is the worst , very dirty , always have to wash your hands as soon as you get out of the store, the women who prices the items is the worst and has no idea of what prices should be, lots of stuff has no price and when you ask her , I think she automatic , raises the prices of the item ,cause you shown it too her. Prices for clothes are affordable. Shoes are all extremely dirty and should be free. No bathroom or fitting room.

I have been to lots of thrift stores in my time. This one is OK. There is a ton of clothing. The big and tall section for women and men is lacking but that is normal. There clothes are mixed up in sizes, but that is not unusual. Prices are in the $3-$7. The store it about it as dirty as you would expect. I don't think they ever sweep or mop the floors, there seems to be a layer of grim on the floor. There is a fair amount of books, toys, and brick-a-brack. The toy section is complete craziness. Often you will find that toys with smaller parts have been separated from larger parts. That is if you can find the smaller parts. Then there is this area where larger item are just "dumped" so good luck with that. Some of the prices are high for item that are "antiques" or what they "think" are antiques. My biggest issues is with the pricing. They use a red "crayon" and the prices are unreadable on many items. Several times they have knock off high end purses and shoes marked way to high. If the item doesn't have a price and you take it to the register they will not sell it to you. If you ask one of the employees to price an item they are not to nice about it..... but it is a thrift store.... sooo.... read more

I think this is the best thrift store downriver. A huge selection of clothing. However I have to mention the older woman cashier with the huge hair, she is RUDE! She was so busy arguing with her fellow cashier about an ice tea she didn't get right, that she started ringing up my items twice. She was so mad about the ice tea when I told her she already rang those up she snaps at me saying" Do you really think I would have you pay for them twice". The only reason I give 2 stars is because the women cashiers have always been a pleasure to speak to even though it can be seen on their faces that they hate their job, still they remain friendly to customers. I feel sorry for the "employees" for they will be the ones "job seeking" when Value World closes their doors. In my opinion, from another business owner, Value World in general but especially this location WONT make it another 5 years, their "prices" are UNACCEPTABLE and "district managers" or "corporate" should OPEN THE BOOKS for I promise them their LOOSING, the prices and profits wouldn't even justify the square footage. The "management" prices items so high were say a customer who once purchased many items now only purchases 1 or 2 items, but yet when for example they see a pair of True Religion jeans sell for $40 they get a smile but actually they are LOOSING but they cant see it. It is unjustifiable for "thrift stores" to think they should be able to get the same per a item as a eBay seller, eBay sellers put in the work to clean, wash, remove lent, iron their clothing, eBay sellers describe their items well and offer refunds, NOTHING like Value World so how does Value World justify such pricing? People STOP shopping here, perhaps if "customers" stop shopping here they will see the PROBLEMS and CHANGE, they ONLY take advantage of their customers and that is unacceptable. I am a eBay Power Seller with a 100% positive feedback on a 15 year old account with 40+ thousand in positive feedback so I know exactly what Im talking about and I know ever aspect of this type of business. I sell high end brands of quality for 25% of Value Worlds prices, all my clothing I sell is clean, no holes, no stains, no damage, always described to a "T" and if a customer ever wants a refund within 48 hours they get a refund. I have shopped at this value world numerous times as it is close by. I was surprised by the negative reviews. They simply do not really reflect this store accurately. After some thought I realized that these are shoppers who probably go in at coupon time. The staff pack the store with loads of goods ahead of time. There are literally thousands of people who show up to use their half off coupons. They are like the bargain shoppers at the old blue light specials. They throw stuff around, change tags, take staff apart but not put it together, leave stuff where it doesn't belong, argue about prices and stress out the employees. The stores turn into a mess with stuff everywhere. Lines get long and check out time can take longer than you may expect. But you can get some great bargains at coupon time and that is the point isn't it? I will sometimes go in to get half off on designer purses or high end goods during coupon time. This store generally has plenty of choices to choose from. It usually has new as well as vintage goods. Lots of high end and brand name goods are available. No fitting rooms so shoppers usually wear spandex or something similar and try it on over top. If your tag is missing staff will give you a new one at the back. I've never had any staff person be rude and many times they have helped without my asking. It is best to go in with an idea of what you want to prevent overbuying. read more

I shop here on a regular basis and enjoy choosing from a large stock of clothing. There are two things that I wish would improve at this store: 1) their stapling of price tags onto the clothing that, when staples are removed, leave puncture holes in the clothing; 2) better customers that aren't smelly and dirty and with gross teeth. read more

Hopefully I'm not forced to give at least one star to this review. This place has gotten nasty - merchandise is just shoved into the shelves, AT LEAST half of the stuff in the electronics shelves are broken - why even sell it if it is in pieces and smashed???? And let's not even talk about the shelves where the toys are - COMPLETE mess!! It seriously looks like something you would see in a ghetto or a hoarder's house. It's obvious the employees don't care, they just keep putting out more horrible crap on the shelves they could tidy up. I get there are kids who mess things up, but it's really the store's responsibility to keep their place organized. And after all this - they still way over-price things. People may pay a little more in a thrift store if it's nice and presentable, but the way this place looks, it's a wonder they are still in business.
