Because of oncoming traffic, I could not swerve, or because of the car behind me- stop safely. I hit it and heard the crunching tearing sound. Mercifully, the car behind me stopped. I had to back out to get this giant chunk out of the bottom of my car. In the moment I should've pulled over, but I asked Siri for the closest repair shop. This was Steve and Jerry's. At this point I prayed for help. I was petrified. I spoke to a sweet woman who said she was going to go chat with her son in law. My car died a minute from their shop. He chatted with me briefly and said he would be right over. He walked over in the rain. As he looked- his expression was grim. It seems this chunk tore the radiator and compressor, and he wasn't sure about the engine. The cars check engine light was on. My tow driver towed it over. He had a longer look and came in to chat with me. This was pretty massive. He felt it needed to go to the dealer, and told me to file an insurance claim. I started the process in the waiting area and soon I had a plan in place. Not only did the technician offer to drive me back to my home (I had a friend coming), but his mom in law kept the store open until my friend arrived, keeping me warm instead of standing out in the cold. I did request to pay for the detailed assessment, and I did so. Can you say over and above? I don't know many places that would do this. Even though the damage was beyond their means (because it was pretty catastrophic needing a dealer's help), they still made sure I wasn't left literally out in the cold. I can just imagine how their regular customers are treated, I was new to them! The office Goddess informed me they'd been around for 54 years. I can certainly see why. Her husband took great pride in his service (he's been departed a decade or so) and the business remains in their family. What great, kind people I ran into today. I would recommend this business wholeheartedly. On a cold, rainy, horribly gone wrong and not so funny April Fool's Day- I met a couple angels that gave me hope. I was able to fill her tires the other night as I got cold and a air loss is pretty much normal when the weather changes. When I started her car up this morning she lost 10 lb overnight which of course is not normal. While I was able to get her car from school and get it serviced I haven't had any Tire service done in this neck of the woods I normally go up to Painesville or mentor. My normal tire shop that I go to it's almost a guaranteed wait of half a day. However I wanted to roll the dice and try the first result that came up in my search and that was the shop. Most places are pretty darn busy nowadays but they tend to make room for folks that need help with flat repair. I called them and they got me right in and I was able to walk across the street to get a cup of coffee and a sandwich while I waited. Total time was about 45 minutes which wasn't bad at all and while I did not have any nails in my tire I did have bead leak due to corrosion in the aluminum. Sadly this is a reality of where we live however this shop was kind polite and got me in in very short notice. The total cost for the mountain balance grinding the bead and resealing it was $37 which is ridiculously cheap. Thank you so much for providing a great service at a great value.

But didn't deny the wrongdoing when confronted. Tim the shop owner claimed that they did a relearn afterwards. But relearn is not the same as repair! The vacuum leak problem was totally ignored and the smoke test was not done. Tim insisted that I can safely drive with a bad oxygen sensor. Glad I didn't and God Bless AAA tow truck. Another shop corrected what WHAR neglected to do. Never again am I setting my foot in this shop and don't recommend it to anyone. I guess this shop knows how to take advantage of an elderly woman. UPDATE: four months ago (May 2025), this very shop did some work on my car and requested a positive review. I said OK but am unable to post it since I reviewed before and Google won't let me do it again. The shop then sent a link to my phone and I was able to post a positive review from a different gmail address. I am buffled how WHAR even knew my another gmail that I never told them about, and what else they know about me, and how they are going to use this knowledge. IMHO this explains how many positive reviews of this shop are posted. Don't take them for granted.

I remembered several people chiming in how great Cragon Automotive is, and they were very kind to me on the phone when I reached out for another automotive issue prior. So I got Kevin on the line as he was returning from a trip to get some parts. Listening, he expressed empathy and asked me to drive over there and he would at least get the window taped up. The challenge was- I have a Hybrid vehicle, and that special battery is located right underneath the back seat. In other words- any rain will kill my car getting into that battery- or at worst provide a rather "electrifying" experience- and not of the good kind... BUT- leave it to Kevin here, and his "three wise men" to not only secure the car with heavy plastic over cardboard, sealing it tight- but he kindly vacuumed out the back seat that was still covered with glass. He is going to get back with me once he is able to get a quote for parts to replace the window. Over and above! I also noticed they had an excellent price on Cooper Tires- so I'm saving up for those after this phase is through. Excellent service to a slightly traumatized female (me) and friendly guys all around, who took care of me even though they were clearly very busy. I know why they are busy too- honest, kind and thorough. I watched them greeting customers who were picking up as I was waiting, many friendly conversations were had. It shows you a lot about a business. So if you want an honest, fast, ethical resolution to a car problem- please give them a call. I think you'll stop right here as you'll be well taken care of.
