Google led me here and I was very happy with my overall experience. I've had good luck at Valvoline shops over the years from Schenectady, NY to Apopka, FL. This Cranbury location is just as good as the others. Why do I say that? -the staff are friendly, and are transparent about what they're doing. -if you have any automotive savvy, you're able to see for yourself if they're doing anything that they aren't supposed to be. That's because you sit in the car and they'll change your oil, air filter, and perform any other work right in front of you. -yes, there are some upsell attempts. The difference between a "stealership" service advisor and here is that Valvoline will not make it seem like a life or death issue when they pitch you. For example; the tech told me I had a very minor power steering leak. It came as no surprise given the age and mileage of my car. He said the fluid level was fine and to just keep an eye on it. The tech asked if my AC was blowing cold. I showed him that it was. I was informed that the refrigerant is "supposed" to be recharged every 3 years. Hadn't heard that one before, but it's nice that they will flush and recharge AC systems here. I didn't know that. He also tested my battery. The tech made a slight error as he said it was supposed to have 550 CCA and was putting out 333 CCA. In reality, my battery is only 450 CCA, so an output of 333 CCA after a couple of years is fine. It doesn't need replacing yet. He didn't push it, and frankly I would have trouble accurately remembering numbers myself with how much they bust their hump to change your oil in 15 minutes. So no big deal. -the line to wait was maybe 5 cars deep. I don't know about you, but I'd rather sit in my car a little while than plant myself in a dingy waiting room on a crappy plastic chair for hours as you would other places. It moved fast and when you are at the front of the line, someone will direct you as to which service bay to enter. -after coupons: 5 quarts of old school "dinosaur" (conventional) oil, an oil filter, and an air filter set me back about $68. They also check (and top up) your other fluids, examine the wiper blades and measure tire pressure. Nice touch if you have a road trip coming up. One quirk is when I called the local phone # to check on wait times, a lady with a strong southern accent answered. I figured "hey it's NJ, people DO still move here despite the BS media narrative to the contrary." But it turns out she was in some call center and obviously couldn't answer my question. She did however text me a $10 off coupon. Now that I've moved to the north side of Bordentown, I think I'll save the bridge toll (or diversion to the "trenton makes") and head up to the Cranbury Valvoline. Use the coupons right and you won't pay that much more than other places. You'll also save something that none of us can ever get back: precious time! read more

I live in Long Island. Got an oil change locally before my me my wife and one year old hit the road to head to Philly for a wedding. I get into Jersey and low pressure oil light comes on. luckily I was able to pull over into a rest stop to check the problem. As soon as I step out I see oil everywhere. I called a local place called Valvoline Oil hoping they could get me in and possible rectify the situation assuming it was something related to the oil change this mornin. I was praying for that at least. Manager Chris tells me yea np we're try to help you as much as we can. I then call a tow truck and have it brought there. I called Chris to confirm and lo and behold no Chris works there. Obviously a small misunderstanding but the manager Andrew took it on with no hesitation. "We don't have a Chris here but bring it in and we'll see what we can do." Never the less this guy Andrew was awesome . Had his guys come help push the truck and they did happily showing this guy knows how to manage not only customer service but his team as well. I want to say thank you to Andrew and his team for helping me through a difficult situation where things could have been much worse. He deserved a promotion or a raise at the least. I never go into an establishment with a pessimistic mindset. I also do not go into situations and deem someone as dishonest or having ill intent prior to dealing with them. When you get charged $60 for a $10 air filter that had a couple of leaves on it, I'd say integrity is subpar. Call me clueless, but I'm a man who instead of spending hours on his car, I spend that time with my wife and girls. A car is no more than a tool for transportation. It truly is at the rock bottom of important things in my life. Do I neglect it when it comes to servicing, absolutely not because that would put the safety of my family in jeopardy. I never gave thought to learning what a cabin filter was - it was self explanatory but I did not know off the top of my head, how much a filter goes for. When I hear, "Hey man, this needs to be changed out. It's not in good shape." I pay the mechanic the respect of his craft and assume he's an honest guy with integrity. Can't say that was true about my experience at Valvoline in Cranbury. When you're charged over 500% of what something should cost and then hear, "Ah got one!" in the shop, honesty and integrity aren't much of a principal in this shop. As a man of faith - I truly aim to see the good in people. I don't find the point in walking through life slapping negative labels on those you have not a clue who they are. Situations like this leave a bad taste in your mouth. I came here to say, "CUSTOMER, BEWARE!" When it comes to the cabin air filters, absolutely do not allow for this company to use its deceiving verbal judo to submit you into paying an astronomical amount of money for a 30 second fix. Honesty and transparency go a long way, Valvoline. I come from a background in law enforcement, armed forces, and industrial sales. I'm not a gullible airhead that "fell for it" today. I truly give everyone the benefit of the doubt as I did in my previous career paths. That won't change going forward - but I felt like informing others was the right and only thing to do. I was excited to hear that I could wait in my car during my service. I waited about 8 minutes for the techs to be ready for me. I was signaled to drive forward and had to straighten my wheel to do so. The tech started yelling for me not to turn my wheel, another tech yelled 'must be a first timer!' I stopped and told the first tech that there is no reason to yell. He yelled again saying I almost drove into the pit. Mind you. I hadn't even cleared the door into the garage. The second tech made a comment again about me being a woman driver. Mind you I have been driving longer than these guys have been alive! I decided this was not an establishment I wanted to patron so I backed out...and the first tech yelled 'please do!' I will not be returning and will gladly run my car even more over the mileage to get to another establishment to get my oil changed. There is a way to treat customers. Went in for an oil change as my oil light flashed while out doing errands. I am obsessive about my car so I will take care of any issue as immediately as I can. There were two cars ahead of me but still only waited about 15-20 minutes. When it was my turn, Chris, explained everything they would do and answered all my questions. They checked everything, fluids, tire pressure, directional lights. It turned out my driver's side headlight was out and I needed new wipers. They did not charge the most expensive option either with the oil, or the lamp and wipers. Chris and all the guys were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. But one of the things they have been known for since they were the Oil Well is getting the job done quickly, glad to say things haven't changed. I left home around 11 and was pulling out of Valvoline around Noon. One thing that has changed from the previous business is you no longer get out of your car, you sit in it while they do the oil change. I did like that every step of the way you were informed what they were doing and the results, it's run a bit like a military operation. I'd go back, price was a little higher than I've paid elsewhere but I brought my iPad and had downloaded a $10 off coupon that brought their price in line with others. I took my 8 year old Subaru Outback (172,000 miles) to the Cranbury location for an oil change. They scanned the bar code on the door of the car and told me I'd need to pay $81 for the oil change. They said that their Valvoline synthetic oil was the only oil approved by Subaru. I asked them to use "regular" 5-30 or 10-40 oil but they refused unless I signed a waiver saying that it was ok for them to use the "wrong" oil. I refused and asked for the manager. Louis came over and I told him that I'd never paid more than $45 for an oil change anywhere, including a Subaru dealer. After waiting about 10 mins, an pulling in, they told me it was company policy they don't do cars with 2 drain plugs. I told them I never had a problem before, and asked if having the extra drain plug was really an issue? They told me it was not an issue just company policy, and escorted me out. In today's world where apathy has replaced the art of good customer service, I want to give a shout-out to Valvoline Oil Change Centers (particularly the one on Route 130 in Cranbury). While I was 2nd in line waiting, Bob came out to greet me and directed me to the next garage bay. When another bay was moving quicker, he took the time to come out and have me move my car there instead of letting someone else jump the line. Bob cheerfully checked my lights, tires, and even showed me my clean air filter, telling me it DIDN'T need to be changed. (I wouldn't think so in a car that is barely 16 months old). No hard service or product sells I didn't need. He even honored the $10 off coupon that Valvoline emailed to me. In and out in less than a half hour. In my opinion, service done right. This is the second time I've been to Valvoline and each time the service has been great. I went in late morning on a Saturday and waited maybe 2 minutes before I was let into the garage. The man helping me (I believe his name was Dan) was amazing. He checked me in and asked what I wanted. Extremely polite and kind throughout with every single person who I spoke with. When Dan was working under the hood, he came over and told me that if I had any questions to ask because he wanted me to leave very satisfied. No one tried to sell my something I didn't need. A big takeaway from my visit was that I was treated with respect! As a young female, most mechanics or people in the automotive industry don't take me seriously, assume I'm stupid, talk down to me or talk in a degrading manner. Not this place!
