Zero rating Warning! My experience with Valvoline Poughkeepsie NY Friday. - oil change. Saturday - car starts to spit and sputter Sunday - car completely loses power, misfirings, dying I called Valvoline, Assistant Manager comes to my location, purchases a styrofoam cooler, jacks up my car and drains at least 3 quarts of black oil out. Advises that most likely they did not drain the old oil out and just added the new oil on top of old. After this I take car to repair shop Diagnosis - spark plugs are saturated with oil, many codes are registering on meter, low pressure I continue to call Valvoline and create a case, District Manager comes out to repair shop and is very unhelpful and insists that it is no fault of a valvoline. He had no knowledge of what was happening or could happen to the car. The manager and assistant manager pretty much admit that it occurs and they probably did not drain out the old oil. The District Manager says it could have many scenarios. In the long run Valvoline did not drain out my old oil and added new oil to the old. My car had about 10 quarts of oil in it and started to cease my engine. I would not go to this business. They do very low quality unprofessional work. Save yourself the expense and abuse. read more

Brought my daughters Rav 4 for first oil change. It's a used car so it was time. They asked what kind of oil I wanted. I thought they were referring to the weight of oil like 5W 20. The tech said nah there is 3 flavors indicating conventional hybrid or full synthetic oil. Since she is at a cold environment and does highway driving I chose the middle option. Most places have you leave the car when they do the oil change. We stayed inside the car during the process. After all done it cost $85 since it was a better grade of oil I didn't mind. I went there to get an inspection and they couldn't get my tire off. They proceeded to charge me for a "failed" inspection , even though they couldn't get the tire off!! Meanwhile I had to go to Arlington tire and pay for another inspection, which by the way they had no problem getting it off! read more

Last week I went to Valvoline Quick Oil Change in Arlington. The tech looked over my car and told me that my oil pan was "rusted"and I had an oil leak. He asked me if I wanted some product to be added to my oil to "slow the leak". I told him "No thanks, I'll keep an eye on it." A few days later I needed to bring my car to my mechanic due to a maintenance issue. I asked him to take a look at my oil pan to see how bad the leak was. He informed me that my oil was in fact leaking. The problem, however, was not due to any malfunction of my oil pan. They told me that the tech at Valvoline had neglected to install a gasket seal when they changed my oil! I went back to Valvoline and asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation, showed him the receipt where the tech checked off "oil drain plug & gasket-checked-on" and the fact that my mechanic had to do another oil change on my car in order to install a new gasket. I said that I expected some sort of refund for the $89.00 full synthetic oil change that Valvoline screwed up. He said that I should have brought my car back to Valvoline so that they could "take a look at it" and that my mechanic was lying and there's nothing he can do now because the gasket is already on my oil pan. After getting ripped off with a phony failed inspection at Mavis I was a little hesitant to go to another chain. I explained to manager my regular massachusetts mechanic had been through car find it fine. They did a methodical job checking the car out also had them rotate tires. This place has really gone downhill. I haven't been here in a while as I was working on Kingston. Stopped in today because I am off from work and what a mistake!! I have been sitting In the waiting area for 45 minutes and my car has still not been pulled in. The waiting room is disgusting, smelly and no one ever even greeted me. There is some gangbanger hollering into his cellphone cursing up a litany that would make a whore blush. I'm no prude but there are other people and women in the waiting room clearly looking uncomfortable. The technicians are scurrying about but cars are not moving at all. I don't understand. They are doing an inspection on one side of the garage and because of that oil changes are all being done on the other side. The inspection has been going on since I've been here and the oil change lane has barely pushed out 2 cars!!!!' Place is full of scam artists. When I brought my brand new car and they told me my car was over due for several services. I told them my car only had 8,000 miles on it so how is that possible? They quickly retracted everything they said. They also told me my car had zero oil in it which was BS because I checked the dip stick 2 days before. $80 for oil change is outrageous and they said have need to come back after 3000 miles for another even though I use Synthetic oil that is good for 6000 miles. Today, Monday at about 12:45 in the afternoon, I went to the Valvoline facility on Dutchess Turnpike in Arlington, NY for a NY State Inspection. When I pulled up, I noticed an employee holding a 15 minute or so oil change sign displayed for passing vehicles. The 4 bays inside the garage were empty and no vehicles outside were waiting for service. As I pulled up to a bay, a saw 2 or 3 employees hanging out in the garage talking. One of the employees came to my car and asked what I needed to which I replied a NY State Inspection. He asked me if I had an appointment which I did not. The employee yelled a name of someone into the garage then immediately turned and said "sorry bud, you need an appointment". Now looking at the facility website, there is no indication on the website that an appointment is needed for anything. Guess this location is making money hand over fist to be able to turn away any service, even a small as an inspection. Great management "bud". Probably should be thinking about changing the street sign held by employees to building for sale/lease based on this type of customer service. read more

Went to get an oil change &inspection and all 4 bays were occupied. Attendant said he'd get me in next. After a 1/2 hour wait I see both cars in the right hand bay exit and I assumed my car was next. Wrong, 2 other cars were pulled in ahead of mine without any wait on their part. Told the guy at the desk about what happened and he didn't seem to care less. He said to sit tight and I'd be next. Told him I heard that line 30 minutes ago. I've been taking both of my vehicles there for over 10 years and usually spend about a thousand dollars a year and will never spend another penny at any valvoline establishment. read more

They made me buy new battery after they drained my battery living it on while the so called "technician" chitchat and snack during my visit which lead to my car not passing inspection because I was told I needed to drive the car for a few days or to a certain mileage for the cars computer to reset. so I did that came back to valvoline again but I kept getting told it's not ready for the 4th time there. The oil change is just fine, but there is a HUGE rip off they use on other services. Yea, I should have know better, 2017 Outback, dirty cabin filter, I said ok replace it, final bill charged for it....$45.00!!! WTF The most expensive filter at Autozone is $15.00 (and that is with Autozone's markup). Yes they need to make a profit, but jeez. This is why this place has a creepy reputation. Not happy, have been using them for years and service has gone down hill. Took my car to my repair shop and was told that the oil filter had not been changed and antifeeze was only good to 20 degrees. Depend on them to do the maintaince should not have to check after. I took my car for inspection and it failed. They told me my e-brake was not working. I was in a hurry, so I couldn't wait, but checked it myself later, and it was working just fine. I brought it back and the service man told me, "I would have passed it." So he told me to bring it back for a free re-inspection. I brought it back, and it passed. They scraped off the old sticker, and forgot to put the new one on. I drove off without realizing. They called me and told me to come back for the sticker. read more

Usually, they'er pretty careful with your car except.... last time they left a big black greasy paw print on my WHITE LEATHER door handle. Then, a few weeks after the change, my oil light is on. I'm over a quart low, on a relatively new car, a few weeks after servicing. hmm.. I have been bringing all of my vehicles here for oil changes for over 15 years. Of course they have to offer there other services and many times the cars need it (ie filters, wiper blades etc) but there is no pressure! The staff is consistently courteous and efficient.
