I wanted to order a digital download of my granddaughters sports pictures. However, Van Gogh does not allow you to order the digital download unless you spend at least $30 (or $35)on a picture package. So I ordered a required picture package with the assumption that I would now be able to get the digital download of my package. But instead of receiving the digital download of my picture package, I received a digital download of ONE picture. So I contacted customer service to explain my understanding based off of their words as stated on the website. I expected to receive some level of understanding and kindness whether they could remedy the situation or not. But right away, they (young man, then later a woman) were defensive. They blamed, debated, accused and mocked me. On both Yelp and Google, their reviews are horrible and I know they must see this, but they don't care. But I encourage people to speak up, reach out to their school boards, their district offices, and make it known how they, as paying customers, are being treated. They know they have the contracts, so they don't care. Please reach out to your schools, district offices or school boards, because apparently these horrible reviews are not changing their poor treatment of customers. read more

My sons fall kindergarten pictures sucked. His eyes were barely open. I purchased them for memories, as it is his first year of school. I just received his spring pictures, hoping they would be better. The posing is so incredibly awkward and they just do not look good. I don't know how they looked at any of the photos and thought they did a good job. Whoever poses and takes the pictures of these kids, is not very good. I am so upset. read more

My issue is not with the photos themselves, since I have not received anything, but the customer service provided when inquiring about issues with the purchase of photos or photo packets. The older woman was horribly rude, nasty and condescending even though my initial correspondence where polite and respectful. My initial contact was via email. When I called to speak with someone, rather than email back and forth, the younger man was polite and helped as best as he could with my issue. I then received a rude email from the older lady. My response was to call and speak with the young man again. Unfortunately, she answered the phone. I asked to speak with management and the older woman refused to give me that information. REFUSED. A business should not be ran like this. Customer Service is the reason people return as customers, not necessarily the quality of the work. I am very disappointed with the experience thus far with this business. I'm not sure who holds the higher position, but seeing that 2 different people working for the same place can have different ideas of what customer service is, maybe management should review how things are being handled and possibly promote the younger gentleman, who tried to answer my questions and walked through things with me....where as the older woman, did not truly care about how she was treating a customer. I am willing to accept an error, a mistake, a lapse in judgement. No one is perfect. Approach is everything and I am reasonable. But disrespect, should not be expected to be tolerated, by anyone. Given the software availability and the ease of using that software, photos taken like these, are going to be a thing of the future. Holding onto clientele should be a goal. Doing anything that would to push them away, shouldn't be an option. read more

I prepaid for my son's school photos, he missed the initial photo day due to illness, but did make the retakes. However, they never delivered our photos. The only thing I got was a calendar stating "it's not too late to order photos". I contacted the school, the photos aren't there. I tried contacting their customer service and have had zero response in over a week. I want my son's school photos, however I don't want to have to pay twice for something I already purchased. It's bad enough to never get a product you pay for, but to have zero response even when I sent them a copy of my receipt is ridiculous and unprofessional. If they don't know how to actually deliver photos or answer the customer service in a timely manner, they shouldn't be a business. read more

Horrible forced smiles!!!! You need to interact with kids to get good natural smiles. From what I can see our school photographer did not do that. And the class picture. My son's kindergarten pictures were horrendous. They required that I pay in advance, so I have 30+ copies of a picture with his eyes half closed. They did arrange a retake and that picture is marginally better. However, my issues are: 1. In an age of digital photography, they literally took one picture of a kindergartener. I know because I originally asked for them to send me the rest of the images, assuming they had snapped 2 or 3 pictures. Nope. Just one. 2. There quality control - at least one person had to have seen these pictures before they were sent home to me and if they had actually looked they would have realized that no one in the world would want this picture. I'm so thankful that our district switched to a different provider this year. read more

My wife wanted me to wait for us to move out the school district before I left this review. Now that we moved to Wheaton, I can finally post it. Christina is about as pleasant as a colonoscopy. Truly unappreciative of free help and just wants to get the kids in and out and seems to genuinely hate her job. I was speechless when she snatched things from my hands and gave me a death glare. Most people appreciate free help. She is better suited to take ID pictures at the DMV, at least her rude attitude and miserable personality would be expected. I will do my best to make sure the school uses a different photographer going forward. I look forward to volunteering for picture day but this year was the worst. They must read more

I just received my daughters 8th grade graduation photos and they are not that great. The options they have for 8th graders are slim and you end up paying more for what you may like. I purchased extra photos for her name and year to be added in the right hand corner, the font is so small you can barely read OR see it. I'm so disappointed in these photos I purchased. I have seen other schools photos that had props with the year. This company doesn't have them. My daughter had to use a chair that was in the class room as one of her props. I would not recommend this company for any school. read more

Unfortunately, they don't know how to take school/class pictures. 1. The photo was taken in October, but we received the photo at the end of January. 2. The photo of the class was taken with the sun right in front of the kids, so most of them have their eyes closed or are making funny faces. I have never seen that! 3. Finally, the kids names are written all around the picture, in alphabetical order!!! Again, I have never seen that before. Good luck to know who is who in 10 years from now. The result is a disaster. I don't recommend this business to schools. They don't know what they are doing. Unfortunately, the French school in Chicago (LFC) gave them its business, and parents could not be less happy with this decision. read more

Their customer service is second to none! My kids go to different schools and have different photographers taking their class pictures. I wanted them to have a similar look when I displayed their photos together. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember what I had chosen through Van Gogh. A quick call to Marcy and it was all resolved. Can't say enough good things about them. (And the photos we have been getting over the past 10 years are a document as to how talented their photographers are.) I have to say, this has been such a frustrating experience. Having to hound a company for a service that was paid for with nothing more than just a "I'm sorry" was horrifying. These pictures are so important to my family and the anxiety of realizing that we were dealing with a company who did not understand the importance of First Communion pictures was horrible.My son had his first communion pictures done the beginning of May of 2017, while other received their pictures, my family waited patiently. My emails inquiring about the missing photos went unanswered and there was no phone number to call. When I finally got a response, I had to wait another month only to receive the WRONG pictures. I had to again email to inform them of their mistake in sending the wrong pictures. I finally received the pictures on October 2nd of 2017 that was 5 MONTHS LATER! This company needs to realize that the pictures they take are so special and important to the families. This can not happen again. Unfortunately, this is the company that my son's school uses so I really do not have another option. So upsetting. read more

My child has taken pictures at school for 5 years to now. The quality of pictures compared to those of 5 years is awful and falling , the resolution of the face is the visible pixels. Children's settings are awful and prices have risen and the quality has fallen. I would not recommend a company for any school. read more

Received my daughter's volleyball picture - the team photo is good but her solo picture is SIDEWAYS. And somehow they think it's okay. I called and they said it's because the way the photographer took it. So how is that my problem or fault??? It's obvious I can't hang it up on a picture frame. Their only solution was shipping the picture back and getting a refund. No other solution??? So I either keep my daughter's SIDEWAYS picture or send it back and have no picture at all.
