They have plenty of bike racks as a lot of us ride our bikes in Bellmore and they even have a nice bike locker compliments of the Town of Hempstead that get offered out in a yearly lottery. The escalator is new which is nice but the elevator is old and dirty. The platform is newer and is covered for a good amount of it which helps when its raining. The PA system and the electronic signs are helpful to let you know when the trains are arriving and departing.

Came here for an early morning legal appearance and learned this station is definitely not walkable to that office. I also saw a food cart outside the station, which is a good thing since there don't appear to be any food places you could safely walk to from here. If you have a car you're good but if you don't, you'd better hope you have a ride nearby. At least there's parking and I think they had a lounge you could sit in while waiting for your train to arrive. I probably wouldn't be here again unless I had to be.

It's a train station, nothing fancy…read more The F train used to take a while to come, so when you missed one you're screwed if you're running late. But lately the F train has been coming more often. Which is good since that means I don't have to always run for the train. Currently they are working and trying to renew some stuff on the station as well. The station is also pretty decent, not super dirty or anything. The F train is one of the many trains that I take to go to school and work.

Its a pretty old station, a bit worn and grimy as most train stations are here but relatively clean. No elevator, escalator, or AC so it gets very warm in the summer on that platform. Nice art above the stairs. That's about it.

However, the train itself is nice and cool once you're on board. No elevator or anything modern like that. The single entrance is in the middle of the block between Greenwich and Hudson. If you didn't know the precise location, you might miss it. Narrow stairs that are clearly marked for direction but New Yorkers don't give a shit about that so you'll be fighting the traffic of people on the wrong side as you lug your suitcase down the three flights. At least there are handrails! At the platform level, two ticketing machines and a staff person who can maybe help you figure out what you're doing wrong and call for help if there is any trouble. Christopher Street is an island platform that is not as narrow as some. It is on the New York side between 9th Street Station (towards 33rd Street Station) and Hoboken Station (towards Journal Square). There are a few benches and a monitor that lets you know the next two trains are not the ones you need. I got a cell signal on the platform but there is no wifi.

The south-bound trains are always late here. If you're lucky, only 2 minutes, but typically 5-10…read moreminutes late no matter what time of day. Hey, at least it's consistent. The teller is only in the booth to answer questions or sell tickets 50 percent of the time. Ticket machines located upstairs in the overpass that connects north and south bound tracks. This station is a stop on the New Haven Line (the first top in Westchester) and although the trains are never on time, there are always taxis lined up here waiting for passengers with the arrival of every train. That alone makes this station superior to many others in the area. Then, we can add a point for the Popeye's two blocks away. There is also a Rite-Aid, *new* Checkers, the local Chicken Hut, a liquor store, two grocery stores, McDonald's, and plenty of other lackluster distractions. There are some interesting folks around here and the Mount Vernon Police Department is also a few blocks away from the station. The late trains really frustrate me, but a girl's gotta get around.

The train station itself is pretty small and parking is a complete pain during commuter hours, and it's the main reason for my low rating... I ended up parking here Friday night because it was located near the restaurant where I was meeting friends, and I couldn't find any parking elsewhere. It was past commuter hours so there was plenty of parking. Unfortunately I did not have any quarters to feed the meter (24 hour paid parking cruel!) but I noticed there was a QR code on the meter. Well, if you don't have quarters, good luck. The QR code was for a parking app, and I've used parking apps in the past... this is the worst one. It kept running very slow and needed a lot of input right away. Not only was I late to meet friends because of this, but this parking lot is very dark at night. I don't care if I'm in the lowest crime rated city in America, being in a relatively deserted parking lot when it's dark out, by yourself, trying to get something on my phone to work- definitely made me feel vulnerable and unsafe. They should really get the parking machines that towns like Westfield have, where you input the parking space number and pay, it generates a ticket and you're good to go. The app was not convenient at all, and if it's not convenient for the customer, then it's for sure a money grab. I believe the app is designed to eliminate people being able to use the extra time the meter has on it from the previous person. 2/5

I met my sister at Newport PATH Station before we went out for dinner, and I always enjoy coming…read morethrough this station. It is much bigger than I expected, and the elevators make it really easy to get around. I appreciate that it feels accessible for everyone. I have been here at different times of the day, and it has never been overly crowded, which makes getting in and out so much easier. There are a few areas that still look like they are under construction, so parts of the station can feel a little empty or unfinished, but it has never been an issue for me. Overall, I think this is one of the better PATH stations. It is clean, spacious, easy to navigate, and a lot less hectic than some of the others. I would not mind using this station anytime I am in the area.

Some of the once-glamorous station's decline can be attributable to broader factors like time and a car-loving culture's antipathy to transit. Part of the blame goes to the bizarre decision to reduce service while ridership increased.
