Each has improved seating, with "stand up boards" that let you simply lean without fully sitting. The bench seats have arms to help us old heads pry our bodies out of a sitting position. There is also improved recessed lighting that is not quite as harsh as the old fluorescent bulbs. The displays are also bright and back lit now, with some handy USB chargers if you need one in a pinch. Finally, each of the refurbished stations has some interesting and quite pretty art installation. It just looks so much better! In fact, when I stepped off the train the other day, I almost felt like I was in another cities metro system. It just looks clean and slick. That's a pretty big score for the MTA. Commuters and tourists should use it and enjoy it....you could do a lot worse.

The "M" train use to run with the "R" back in 1987, but as time went on the "M" no longer ran with the "R" in Brooklyn due to MTA's budget cuts in 2010. On the weekends and late nights the "D" & "N" provide extra service (unless stated otherwise) to help the "R" since it acts as a Shuttle train that terminates at 36th St & Bay Ridge-95th St while it skips 53rd & 45th Sts towards 36 St but stops at these two stations only if it's going towards Bay Ridge.

I'm not sure why we decided "lunch in the Village" was such a great idea but here we are. The station is quite clean (at least the level where we were) and signage was decent. A little loud, perhaps. But clean and well lit for 2pm on a weekday. The station is handicapped accessible, which is nice. There are two levels with tracks (A/C/E on the B2 level, B/D/F/M on the lower B4 level) and two mezzanine levels, one for the fare control and the other is for connecting between platform levels. The M train goes to Metropolitan Avenue and to Manhattan and back to Forest Hills. Sucks that they go midtown and to upper Queens instead of to the financial district and to Bay Parkway, Brooklyn like back in the days when it was a brown M train. I miss that. The M train is now orange and they are all the new R160 trains by the Japanese so no wonder they have blue plastic seats that smell so damn strong like formaldehyde! When they were built, the plastic produced a strong smell for my liking. It sucks. Also it is very lit and the conductor does not announce the train stops anymore for these trains. The train has automated announcements unlike the J trains that are still the old R42 ones with the long bench seating, which is limited seating for customers. The gray benches are solid and there's heating underneath them and sometimes the heat blows my feet. These trains got a lot of scratches on the door windows. I think the old R42 trains are cleaner and lot fresher than the blue plastic benches on the R160 trains. Sucks that the old trains got to go. The blue seating is getting dirtier especially during the pandemic when sitting was impossible. The blue seats are all smeared with dirt and oil and ointment in almost every spot. Blood and poop too on them! It's like what the hell. The MTA should definitely impose a special cleaning crew project to clean the filthy dirty blue seats.

Plus, the long ass climb up the stairs to get to the platform doesn't help matters too much. At least you can get cell phone reception along this elevated line. Other then that there is nothing at all that makes this subway station stand out or any different from the many along this line. Plus, the hood surrounding it is kind of sketchy at night. Oh yeah there is one thing. The subway lets out right across the street from Duff''s Heavy Metal bar! It's the only reason I ever take this train to begin with and gets three stars just for that. This station contain three (3) elevators for ADA accessibility and compliance. There is a human operated token booth at this station. There are walkway ramps with exposed "I" beams visible and wall murals and mosaics commissioned by artists. Occasionally, there are NYPD police presence on the platform which fends the illusion of safety and security for New Yorkers during turbulent times for rash of hate or bias assaults. I get out on the Fulton side that leads you to Fulton St and Stuyvesant Ave across the street from Boys and Girls High School, adjacent from Fulton Park. There is no token booth, no one for customer service, and seldom NYPD available, however it is anything but grimey (that's Ebonics for dirty) and the four kiosk are always working but please be advised some mornings these kiosks do not take dollar bills. This exit is well lit and clean. The murals are a stationery to the culture of working class people and youth that attend neighboring schools that access the A/C trains daily. 4 stars because the MTA tore down our Token Booth. I have taken it so many times over the years and today I used it again to head to Brooklyn. The trains come often and it is one of those stations where you never feel like you are waiting forever. I like that it has elevators, escalators, and stairs because it makes getting around simple no matter what you need. The station feels safe every time I am there. There are always people around, from commuters to families to tourists passing through. The area is full of visitors because there are so many NYC attractions nearby, so it never feels empty or isolated. The neighborhood around it is lively with Battery Park, the Statue of Liberty ferries, the Charging Bull, and the whole Financial District right there. It is clean, bright, and easy to navigate, and it has become one of the stations I rely on the most when I am moving around the city.

There are a variety of routes that runs through the MTA - Bowling Green Subway Station 4 Train - runs all times, stopping at Bowling Green on its way between the Bronx and Brooklyn 5 Train - Runs all times except late nights. On certain late nights, the 5 does not serve Bowling Green, where the services ends at the Brooklyn Bridge City Hall This is a great station, and it's right next to the Staten Island Ferry!

Good considering the location isn't anything interesting. It serves the N and W Trains. These are almost the same thing, with both terminating a few stops north of here, so there's plenty of chances to catch a train up that ways. It gets good marks for having frequent trains to Astoria. This is a good way to get from Long Island City to Astoria, the only line that passes through. It can be difficult to find the entrance. It's at the corner of 31st Street and 39th Avenue. They allow crossing over after entering turnstiles.

This subway station has been updated modernized and contains simple architecture keeping with function and operational rather than beauty and ornate. My style is traditional, but I do believe individuals and society must adapt with changing times for updated modernization - at least keep it classic and simple which this subway station maintain. The entrance/exit kiosk is modern, but a classic and very simple appeal glass-and-steel canopies with no lavish modern awnings. The artwork for the station, titled "Perasma I and II; Dappleganger," by Stephen Westfall installed in 2018 consists of 47 laminated glass mural panels in the mezzanine, each with geometric designs. It allows color and natural sunlight to be emitted.
