Definitely overpriced, but still pretty good. We tried the Kletskop and Crunchy Hazelnut, and they were very generous with the toppings. That said, it came out to about $25 USD for just two stroopwafels, which felt steep, especially since you can find similar ones around the city for much cheaper that I hear are just as good. Still, if you're a tourist visiting for the first time, it's probably worth trying at least once.
We tried a few stroop wafels and I have to say these were the best. We got original so we could see what the hype was about. I kind of wish I had gone back to try them chocolate dipped as we tried another place later like that and they definitely werent as good. The line was a bit long but they seem to have it down pretty good here so we didn't wait too long. Store itself is small and cozy and cutely decorated. Staff was friendly and efficient. Worth trying if you have the time or the line isnt too long.
When I visited Amsterdam, trying a stroopwafel was a must. I went to one of the most famous shops in the city for this iconic treat. There were so many kinds of stroopwafels in the shop, making it difficult to choose. I decided to get one of the larger stroopwafels at the counter and also grabbed a mini stroopwafel as a souvenir. I ordered the salted caramel stroopwafel. The staff dipped it in chocolate and added toppings. The waffle itself was soft , with a chewy texture from the syrup filling between the layers. It was sweeter than I expected, but still very good! It was a very cute shop, and I really enjoyed shopping for waffles there. It's a great place for tourists to find stroopwafel souvenirs!
I could not resist coming in after seeing the beautiful storefront of Van Wonderen Stroopewaffels. Year round, their storefront is inviting, welcoming to all and beautifully decorated for each season. I'm a sucker for attractive branding, so while waiting in line, I decided to buy a canister to take home. Unfortunately, the top metal canisters were just for show, and the only ones that were for sale were the cardboard ones. You can imagine the end (hint: crushed). At the counter, you can choose between mini or whole stroopwafels in various flavors. Just a heads-up: it can get quite messy! I ended up with caramel everywhere--crumbs and nuts scattered all over. Verdict: The exterior of the stroopwafels tasted stale. I've had better from packaged Daelmans available at the grocery store.
This location always seems to be jam packed, because it is the midst of a large shopping area/mall. We did wait in a line that wrapped around the restaurant, but it was fairly quick moving. We did have to wait 10+ minutes for our order though. They didn't have their prices clearly listed while we waited so we decided to get 3 mini stoop waffles so we can try the different flavors. three mini stoop waffles actually seems like a good sized snack amount for two people, but I guess since they made us wait so long for our order, they gave us 3 medium sized stoopwaffles. We paid about $31 for 3 mini stoopwaffles, which is definitely in the more expensive side. It seems like you get more bang for your buck though if you go for one of the larger sized stoopwaffles. These are a great option if you are sharing. They tasted great, but I do feel like they are overpriced.
While the stroopwafels are Insta-worthy here, I think you're better off going to a local spot where they handmake it in front of you --no toppings. But if you like going the extra mile then check this spot out. We only ordered one small stroopwafel (€10) to share since I was shocked how pricey they were. There's a variety of topping flavors to choose from and we opted for the Biscoff version. Not only was this pricey and small, it was so messy to eat. The crumbs of the toppings were falling all over the place and probably 1/3 of it ended up on the floor. It was also overly sweet. Overall, this spot is overhyped for what it is.
An absolute must when you're walking around Amsterdam! My hotel was only a few blocks away so I ended up going here three times throughout my stay. I loved that the stroopwafels come in difference sizes. I got the large one my first time and that's a lot of sweet caramel + toppings for one person! I think I got the smaller versions the next few times. My favorite was definitely the speculaas topping as that really complimented the warm caramel and waffle cookie. I forgot the name of the other topping, but it was this hard caramel center with a chocolate coating. That was also great, especially since the warmth of the stroopwafel helped melt the chocolate a little bit, but I realized I wasn't a huge fan of the hard caramel. Mom got a salted caramel topping that came in little balls and that was really good actually, I liked that one a bit more because the caramel was softer. Seemed like there was always a line here no matter what time we arrived but it goes fairly quickly so I don't think we ever waited more than about 20 minutes. They also sell really cute tins so we bought one of those as well as a keepsake. A sweet, sugary, and delicious treat that's prefect to graze on while you walk around sight-seeing. But pro tip, it can get messy towards the end even in the holder it comes in, so pack some wet wipes and bring them to clean your hands afterwards so they aren't sticky :)

I stopped by the famous Van Wonderen and the line was a bit long. It took about 15 minutes to order and maybe another 10 minutes to get my order. Price-wise, it's quite pricy for what you're getting. Despite all this, was it a good one-time try? Absolutely. The stroopwafels were fresh, not too sweet, and served in these cute pouches. Both flavors I got were delicious but the Crunchy Hazelnut is a must! I was pleasantly surprised. This is a must-stop for your first time in Amsterdam!
This place is all over all of the must-do lists in Amsterdam, and there is a line outside to prove it. We decided to see what it was all about one day, and waited quite a while to get our stroopwafels. I was shocked at the price and size - they are quite small, and quite expensive! We had a gigantic stroopwafel at a street fair the day prior that was much more affordable, made fresh right in front of us, and tasted better. I think Van Wonderen is great if you want the Instagram-perfect experience, but if I were to return to Amsterdam, I would try to find somewhere more local instead.
The traditional all Dutch Stroopwaffle is delicious. Many flavors to choose from. All are freshly made right before you. This is a lovely little store, complete with a chandelier. The issue I have is the price. This is the costliest Stroopwaffle I have ever had. Check the receipt. Each medium Stroopwaffle is €8.45. That's a little crazy! The small one is €6.95. Definitely worth trying, once :)

Such a cute look inside but be prepared to wait in line. Options are plentiful and the flavors are all tasty but it's pretty expensive. One thing to know, they sell the cookies in different sizes. The one in my picture is a small for reference. read more
I wanted to like this place more, but after trying it out, it became apparent to me that it's more good visuals (IG people) than taste. I'm not sure if waiting in line and hanging out in the cramped space is worth it. Maybe not a second time. The first time I had a stroopwafel was in a previous job in the US where a Dutch expat brought some straight from Holland. It was amazing and obviously not freshly-made like here at Van Wonderen. That said, this experience of fresh stroopwafel wasn't the best since it wasn't a tasty/chewy experience. The fresh one I got here crumbled more and didn't have the satisfying slow caramel bite. So, I guess you should try it out if you're already hanging out in this central area of Amsterdam, but otherwise, I think there are better spots that don't need all the fancy decorations to sell more. read more
We waited in line for about 20 minutes and the stroop waffles were good. You have an option of sizes and toppings. We chose the smallest size with our toppings which set us back 10 euros. Insane pricing ( hence 3 star rating tops) and while the waffle was good, we had one equally good ( if not better) close by at the Albert Cuyp market for a larger size at a price of only 3 euros ! This place is a tourist trap but I suppose if you are looking for a place with fancy toppings for the stroop waffles this is place to go. read more
This place always has a super long line: HINT: go later at night and there is NO wait! People in there acted like we were in the way as they were restocking. Rude. The stroopwaffles we got, however, made up for it. I got a chocolate covered butterscotch one that was to die for. So good. Cute place, but little, and a tourist trap. If you want real fresh stroopwaffles like the locals get, go to one of the markets in town and you can get one for a Euro instead of 5Euro. read more

This place is so overhyped and the service was horrible. It was crowded with people, whom I assume saw the hype on tik tok and YouTube. Let me begin with the staff, whom were a bunch of young women more concerned with their own social conversation than attending to the paying guest. They were on their cellphones and at one point all 4 girls left the work area at the same time, leaving only the two on the register. (Store still full of customers waiting for their orders. The biggest turn off for me was what I saw occurring before my eyes. I witnessed one employee handle the trash and then with the same gloves ( no she did not change them, because I watched her) open the bag of chocolate, pour them into the existing melted chocolate and pat them down with the same trash gloves. Then she began to wipe down the counter and walls surrounding the open chocolate and Carmel bins used to make the waffles cookies. I was done after that. 26euro and I just threw them in the trash. This place would've been shutdown by the health department if they were located in the US. Don't believe the hype. read more
They are very instagramable. The line is well managed but super long. The shop itself is so tiny and uncomfortable to wait for your order without feeling like you're in the way. I just don't know that the cost/weight was worth it as there are so many stroopwafel options. read more

I thought the stroopwaffels were mediocre I don't think they needed the extra toppings as they're sweet on their own. The wait was kind of long because only one girl was working which is ridiculous since it's a popular spot for tourists. I definitely would try other places if I were to visit again. read more
Fresh, BUT you can get better stroopwafels at a market. Also, this place is notable because they add a bunch of stuff to the wafel. I had the bueno one and my wife had the smarties one. In the end, both of us think that it would be better with no toppings. You can also buy little trinkets etc or stroopwafels to take home. Solid place but it seems a bit more geared towards tourists. read more
Okay....I used to live in Amsterdam for 2 years and never went here because I knew it was a tourist trap. BUT I had a friend visit with me when I came back in holiday & thought we'd give it a go. NOT WORTH IT. The wait was about 30 mins, the price for a small stroopwafel was 7 euro, and the toppings are just ehhh. The taste is just avg when you consider the wait & price of the snack. Tip: just go to the Albert Cuyp Markt in De Pijip where you can get the actual fresh, delicious & HUGE stroopwafels for 3 euro each. Cheaper, bigger & tastes better. read more

Definitely go somewhere else! This popular dessert, can be found at many other places. Yes, the store has a very cute design and that's what gets people in the store. But it is overpriced compared to other places. Service was also the WORST! They only had three people actually making the stroopwafels, which clearly wasn't enough. You can see each worker making them, they are right behind the cashier. Each worker grabs a ticket or two and started making each order. I hate to say it, but we definitely got the worst one. One girl was so fast and making one after another. Ours was well, so terrible. She left her station like every five minutes to go talk to her coworkers. Get some water and was constantly touching her bangs and not changing her gloves. It was raining outside, so we were okay with waiting. But it was insane that her other two coworkers were making them one after another and she wasn't making any. She finally finished one and we thought it was our order, since we had been waiting for 30 minutes but nope it wasn't ours. We watched as everyone that ordered after us, left with theirs. She then walked away and was talking again. I didn't want to be rude so just waited. It took a little over an hour, for us to finally get ours. So in the span of almost two hours, this girl only made four. I should have spoken up, but they were so busy. The food was okay and looks better than it taste. read more

Would not recommend. Went here because of the hype on tik tok. Staff were rude and unfriendly. The stroopwafels we ordered were small and cost us 20€!!! definitely not worth the money. The shop was small and cramped with an overkill of staff who were chatting amongst themselves and looked like they would rather be elsewhere. Overall, would not recommend and would not return. read more
Place is popular on social media and TikTok and the line was out the door when we came. It's more of a customizable aspect where you can decide which type of stroopwafel you like. Personally, I thought all the addition candy toppings were too much and too sweet. In addition it's obviously more expensive than just a plain classic one. I had better and fresher ones at rudis original stroopwafel. Go there for the quality and more local prices... go here for the instagram pictures and experience. read more
Delicious, famous Stroopwafels! There are quite tasty. It's a frenzy to try and find the end of the queue to get in the door. The service is good. They're got several people behind the counter diligently working trying to keep up with the demand. The shop is slam packed with little to no room to navigate in and out. Moderate wait in line for a mediocre at best stroopwafel. You get to choose from 3 sizes of stroopwafels and a single type of topping. The stroopwafel was soft and thin, although freshly pressed. The caramel layer inside was also minimal and messy. The flavor was nothing special and I think I prefer a pre-made stroopwafel because they are thicker and chewier, not to mention much cheaper. It is a good experience to make your own, but I would not wait more than 30 minutes in line for it. read more

Delicious! A fun little treat to get while visiting Amsterdam. Stroopwaffles are everywhere, but this Little shop is known for making them right in front of you and handing you a nice hot one. It was about $10 for the medium sized one. read more

When in Amsterdam, this is a must have, must eat. This little shop is located on the corner of Kalverstraat. We were fortunate that it wasn't too crowded with only 2 people ahead of us. If they don't have one you want on display at the counter, they will make it fresh for you. The smell of the batter on the "waffle pan" smells so good. The pan presses it into a thin wafer and after it's hot off the press, a caramel syrup is spread between 2 waffels and then it's dipped, sprinkled with mini M&Ms, candy sprinkles, gingerbread or oreo cookie crumbs--talk about sugar overload!! Each bite was crisp with a little chewiness and my selections weren't very sweet--it would be delicious with a cup of tea or coffee. There are 2 sizes available, large and mini. I ended buying a box of 4 mini's to take back to my hotel. There are also stroopwafel gift bags ready for purchase gift bags. I may be able to buy stroopwafels online back home in America, but it won't be the same!! read more
Atmosphere: Van Wonderen Stroopwafels is a small corner store with a bright, warm atmosphere. It smelled of fresh, sweet stroopwafels, and there was a wide selection of stroopwafel products around the store. Service: The service was prompt, and our cashier was patient with us as we decided which stroopwafels to buy among the various options. Our cashier was eager to explain the different toppings and sizes they offered. Food: We ordered a Hazelnut, KitKat, and Daim stroopwafel. These stroopwafels were truly on another level compared to store-bought packaged stroopwafels. They were fresh, warm, soft, and delicious. Each stroopwafel was generously topped with the respective sweets, which went well with the gooey caramel centers. The sweetness of the stroopwafels was high but very satisfying! Overall: The stroopwafels from Van Wonderen were the perfect dessert we needed on a rainy Amsterdam day. We were able to split 3 stroopwafels (2 medium, 1 large) among 6 people, which we thought was a great deal. We would absolutely come back to try more flavors! read more

When one visits Amsterdam, what is one thing that you cannot leave without doing? The answer is "having a stroopwafel". I was saddened by the fact that the Cuyp market was not open on the days that I was in Amsterdam; I would have pigged out at all the street food vendors. I was however happy to find Van Wonderen amongst my meandering of Amsterdam's shopping districts. A rather small store, but once you enter, all you smell is the scent of freshly baked pastries. I never really knew what a stroopwafel was but I do have to say that having one freshly made is the absolute best. I left the store with a tin of classic stroopwafels (the tin is embellished in blue and white with Holland as its banner), and a warm stroopwafel to go. I have to admit that I was excited to stuff my face with the gooey sweet concoction. Yes, it was a mess to eat, and I had sanitizing wipes to use after devouring the pastry in (I think it was 5 bites??). Anywho, Amsterdam is a city that I will most indeed return to and of course have more freshly made stroopwafels. read more
Talk about a lovely experience! This Stroop waffle house is one of the oldest and most popular in all of Amsterdam. They have tons of variations, but the base of the waffles are pretty much all the same. That we gooey caramel between two crispy warm, thin wafer waffles is always so delicious. You can get yours dipped in chocolate and then sprinkled with a variety of toppings that run from Oreo to M&Ms to nuts? Unfortunately, I'm allergic to chocolate so I've decided not to get a topping because I was the only way for you to adhere them to the waffle. I ended up just getting a plain freshly made standard caramel waffle, and it was sweet, Crunchy, warm, perfect for a brisk winter day in the city. I wish I had a cup of tea to go with this because I wanted it to last forever. I would give it five stars if you were able to put toppings on with a white chocolate? But I think they just want to stick to their standard mode of service, which I completely understand! read more
The stroop waffles were very very yummy! All the ingredients are freshly made every day and you can choose your toppings. There is usually quite a long line but very worth it. The shop is quite small so you'll have to eat the waffles outside! read more

This place is amazing! The building has been there since the 1600's! We waited a long time, but it was mostly because of them making each order fresh. I loved the waffle, but there was a bit too many fudge pieces. A sugar overload! The picture is of a medium waffle. read more

Before you go, check out Kamphuisen Siroopwafelfabriek in Gouda or the Original Stroopwafels stall at Albert Cuyp Market first. Those places offer a more authentic experience. Van Wonderen serves a more picturesque, upscale version of a stroopwafel. The shop is located on the corner of Kalverstraat and Heiligeweg, a pretty lively shopping area in Amsterdam. Wafer cookies are beautifully arranged by the window, topped with colorful candies and syrups. You can order ones with chocolate, marshmallows, nuts, fruits, etc. they change it up sometimes. Other items you can purchase include coffee, chocolate bars, gift items, and packaged stroopwafels. Their mini stroopwafels are usually made ahead of time and left on the counter to easily hand out to customers. I would definitely recommend requesting for a fresh one, they were kind enough to make me a new cookie. Imagine a gooey, caramel filling sandwiched between a thin warm wafer. As a contemporary twist, my stroopwafel was half-dipped in chocolate, and then topped with white chocolate shavings. I also purchase a couple packaged ones for gifts and just for comparison. Maybe it's quite obvious, but fresh is indeed best. Nothing beats a stroopwafel straight from the griddle with the chocolate still drying. It's a delicious combination of crispy and sweet. You are welcome to order an original, regular-sized stroopwafel from Van Wonderen as well. Just make sure it's fresh! read more

Yelp said this is the best Stroopwafel and we were the tourists looking for the fame local flare. The store front was small and queue long: that's the good sign. Order the small one and get ready for a drink. That thing was deliciously sweet and large. We really couldn't finish the whole "medium size" piece. Good thing they wrapped it in a non-stick paper so that we could carry it back to the hotel for later. read more
