Although we had an appointment to install the lighting at a Richmond location of the trailer rental company--at considerable cost-- while stopping to visit friends, we were told the kit was not available and could not be located at any other store along the 95 corridor at this venue, but we would most likely get lucky if we made various stops at their locations along the way. We called Southside Hitch the next morning, hoping that they would be able to help, but figured we would pay for our lack of planning. We were told to come on out, they were sure they could accommodate us! And they did! Within 30 minutes, we had a lighting kit installed at a fraction of the cost of the quote from the trailer rental company. I brought my truck to Dad's Garage in Owings for three relatively straightforward items:…read more * TPMS sensor programming * Tire balancing * Diagnosing an emergency brake-related clunking noise under load I had an 8:00 AM appointment scheduled well in advance, yet after TWO full days, the truck sat untouched until around 2:00 PM on the second day. This was a job that realistically should have taken a couple of hours. The TPMS issue was never resolved. Initially, I was told the sensors had been programmed correctly and that the warning lights were caused by incorrect tire pressure -- one of the most ignorant explanations I've ever heard from a mechanic. The reality was simple: the inner rear TPMS sensors were never programmed at all, which was the entire reason the truck was brought in. They eventually admitted that after the fact. Next was the wheel balancing. My truck has custom powder-coated wheels. Instead of using stick-on weights like the factory setup already had, they installed hammer-on steel weights on the OUTER edge of the rims, damaging the powder coating in the process. Any competent shop should have immediately recognized the proper balancing method after removing the existing stick-on weights. As for the emergency brake concern, they never properly diagnosed it. I specifically brought the truck in for a loud noise under load -- not the normal sound of the electronic parking brake actuator engaging. They dismissed the issue without ever meaningfully reproducing or testing the concern. To top it all off, they broke a wheel stud using an impact gun on the lug nuts rather than properly torquing them as a qualified mechanic should. Because of the excessive use of the impact gun, I now have concerns about stretching or cracking of the remaining wheel studs and will likely be replacing all of them as a precautionary safety measure. Between the damaged powder coating on the wheels and the wheel stud issue, I am now facing well over $1,000 in damages to either have the wheels professionally re-powder coated or replaced, along with replacing the studs they improperly handled. What made the experience even worse was my conversation with Mike, the owner. From the beginning of the call, he was defensive and adamant that everything had been performed correctly -- until several of those claims were proven untrue. Once confronted with the facts, the conversation quickly became unprofessional, including yelling on the phone rather than attempting to resolve the situation appropriately. Two days wasted, damage to my wheels, unresolved issues, poor communication, and additional damage caused while the vehicle was in their possession. This experience was frustrating from start to finish. Steer clear of Dad's Garage unless you want your vehicle returned with more issues than it had when you dropped it off.

I got a call explaining the car had failed inspection for TWO MINOR THINGS (which I was already aware of). I asked if the alignment had been done also, to which he told me he wasn't aware I requested one. No problem, but yes let's get an alignment done please. He advised me they do not do alignments and had to send the car to another shop to get it done. No problem. Once the car was taken to who knows where- I was never even given the name or location of whatever "shop" I did not personally hire to service my vehicle, I was told the alignment could not be done, and it would cost $2k+ to replace chassis parts in order to be able to align the car. What they were not aware of is that I myself am an automotive mechanic, and I inspected my vehicle myself before taking to them. I declined the up charge and informed them I would like to pick the car up, but now they can't tell me when they would even have it back. Again, I have no idea where my car is at this point. I explained politely that I'd like to come pick it up first thing in the morning, and I was told it would be ready. Morning time comes and I call first choice, and I'm told the car is still not back, and "maybe" they can have it back by lunchtime. At this point I have to shuffle my schedule around just to make plans to pick my car up. I call back around 1pm and I'm told it's still not back. I inform them that I will be there to pick my car up in 30 min and they need to figure out how to get it back to their shop. Once I arrive, wouldn't you know it, the car is still not there. And when closing out my bill, I'm informed that I owe extra $ for this failed alignment situation, I don't even know who or what I'm paying for that, again, no information on where my car went was ever given. After about 30 minutes of waiting, the car shows up, and after a couple apologies from the receptionist, I was handed my keys. I wasn't the happiest customer at this point, but I understood. I let them know I will be making the TWO MINOR REPAIRS listed on the inspection report myself and will bring it back in a couple days for reinspection. I bring the car back a couple days later for reinspection and handed the inspector my keys so he could check it out, I literally had to replace a mirror glass and hood latch pull. Minor. He asks me did I get the alignment fixed, and I said no. He then immediately, with an attitude, shoves the keys back in my face and tells me he will not pass it. At this point I am fuming, I explain to him that I paid YOU to inspect my car, and what you wrote on the report has been fixed. What this man was trying to do was fail the car based on info "supposedly" given to him by some unnamed 3rd party for the alignment. I tell him, nothing about alignment was on the report I was given from YOU yesterday. In this moment I am catching him in his own lie, saying "I'm human, I forgot to put it on the report". No sir, you either missed it, or you're trying to make things up. The whole point of being a licensed state inspector is to NOT MISS THINGS, you are literally responsible for the vehicles you sign off on, that will be put on these roads. He then goes and makes that change on his computer and prints me a new report showing it now failing for 3 things. Unbelievable. What I took from this situation was first choice auto trying to up sell $2k+ worth of unnecessary items in an attempt to get a few bucks. Once I left this place, I immediately took it to another MD inspector and the car passed inspection with NO issues. The lesson I learned is that this place will never see another dime from me. I have a copy of both failed reports from first choice, one showing those 2 minor things, and another one showing he added something that wasn't true. I also have the passed inspection report from the reputable shop that was done immediately after I left first choice. I will be making sure the MD state police hears about my experience here, hopefully they make the necessary corrections. Be weary of this place.

Overall, it was a pretty decent detail. My car interior was pretty messy and it looks better than…read moreit did before. It is definitely clean, but after riding in it for one day, I've noticed some areas that they missed. I paid for the platinum package which is $230 for a crossover vehicle. The interior is leather, and with two kids the seats had spills and splashes. While those splashes are gone, my seats do not look conditioned as the package advertises. I'm guessing conditioned means that a conditioning product is applied to leather, but there's no slight shine to it. So I'm unsure if that was done. The e-brake area still has debris under it, a lot of it. So I was a bit disappointed that it was overlooked or forgotten about. The back and sides of my seats still had a little bit of specks on them, which didn't seemed wiped down completely. Windows were clean inside and out, so that was a plus. Tires were shiny and rims were cleaned. Carpets were vacuumed and shampooed. Trunk mat and carpet underneath were cleaned and vacuumed. The main reason why I'm not doing 4 stars is because I called the day before and we agreed on 9 AM the next day. At 9:15 I called and left a message. A couple minutes later I got a text saying they were running behind and that the crew would call me shortly. Not long after that, they called me to let me know they would be there in 30 mins. They got here at 10, technically an hour after what I was expecting, and I would've preferred to have gotten a text or call letting me know they would be late, instead of me waiting 15 mins to call and see what was going on. An hour into the job, they let me know they have to go back and get some equipment they forgot. An hour later, they were back. By 2:30 they were finally done. The men worked hard and did an overall good job. My car wasn't squeaky clean to begin with, and it is definitely cleaner now. But I wish the owner/crew would've notified me about being late sooner, and that they had all the equipment they needed for the job. The pricing seems on par with detailers in the DMV, but for that price, I would've loved a little more attention to detail and getting here on time with everything they need for the job.

On Sunday, I had my vehicle towed to this shop. My AC had stopped working and after driving for sometime fumes started coming from the front of the car and liquids were dripping from the bottom of the car. When my car got brought in, I called and explained exactly that. They told me it would cost about $67 to do a diagnosis of the issue. The next day, Tim called me and said the issue is my radiator and I needed to replace the radiator. He told me the total cost would be $764. I told him I would call back because I wanted to get a second opinion. I wanted to get a second opinion because this past December I brought my car in to them because my AC/ heater was not working. Then I paid them over $600. Now six months later I was having the same issues. Because I couldn't move the car to another mechanic, I contacted a mobile mechanic. In my messages to the mobile mechanic I said the same thing that I told this business. My AC stopped working and the car started fuming. In the end, I could not coordinate a time with the mobile mechanic due to work, so I decided to go with Myers. The next day I called them to okay the service. Tim now quotes $849, instead of the $764 he originally told me. I explained to him that was not the price he quoted me before. I wrote the price down, but he lied and said it was what he told me. I negotiated the price to $813 because I just wanted my car fixed. I okayed the service after he assured me he did a diagnostic and the issues would be fixed. Of course, I'm thinking the AC would also be fixed. When they called me to say the car is ready. My sister goes to pick up the car and had me on facetime. The very first thing I asked her to do was to check the AC before paying. LO AND BEHOLD THE AC WAS NOT FIXED. When I brought this issue up. They lied that I never mentioned the issue with my AC. We are in the peak of the summer, Why would I not mention my AC not working??? Also, why would I mention it to the mobile mechanic (see my screenshots) and not mention it to Myers, the people who have my car and are fixing my car???? Instead of them admitting their error. They tried to charge me an additional $1000 to fix the AC talking about there is an issue with the AC compressor. So they wanted me to pay a total of $1800!!!! They are ridiculous. Of course I contested this. I called Neil Myers the owner to resolve the issue cordially. To my surprise he started yelling at me and threatening me that "he knows my type" and that if I don't pay in cash I will not get my car. It was so TRAUMATIZING. I never had a business owner speak to me like that, especially when it is THEIR ERROR. The way he spoke to me I was scared because like I said my younger sister was there alone. So I immediately left work to go there myself. Then Brandon (Myers??) got involved and again instead of rectifying the situation and admitting their error also lied that I never told them. So he called me stating the call is being recorded. Then it was clear he was trying to create a recording to cover themselves legally. He also tried to tell me that I needed to pay in cash or certified check before they release my car. I called them out that it is against the law if it was not previously disclosed to the customer. In the end, I paid $749, instead of $813 because Brandon said he would give me a "discount". I found it laughable that he thought that would be sufficient to rectify the fact that I paid $749 to "fix" a radiator that is sold on amazon for less than $99 and my AC is still not working. I don't recommend this business to anyone. Also by the way the positive reviews are doctored. As a first time customer they will harass you for days to leave a review, which I am assuming why so many people feel compelled to leave these 4 star reviews. But trust me don't patronize this business!

The partner of the owner goes by P.J was on site asked if we had full coverage and stated the mechanic is a independent contractor who was driving my car after hours so they are not liable. This for I received my insurance deductible of 500 dollars. The owner Keon Wilson says he will reimburse me my 4,767.88 for my engine however I have not received it or any information on when or how I will be reimbursed. Just excuses! I asked why the business insurance is not paying for it? He said "because the vehicle was not in the shop at the time of the incident, the mechanic a independent contractor who was driving the vehicle after hours that's where the problem comes up". So now I'm out of a vehicle , 4760 for the engine not to mention the 1,000 I spent on tires new tires. The mechanic/driver provided our insurance to the state trooper (this is now a at fault accident on my insurance). I am mad as hell!! This is going to be a long drawn out process in court now. Please beware and stay away from Key mechanics in Waldorf md!!
