Staying at the Sofitel Gatwick, so this was a convenient option for dinner.
The food was OK - not bad, but nothing special. Was a mix of Thai and Chinese style dishes. The garlic prawns were good; the sizzling beef was mediocre - basics strips of beef in a generic sauce. Not much flavor.
"Egg fried rice" seemed to be basic jasmine rice with some fried egg mixed in.
When being seated, the server offered "sparkling or flat water", but not tap, and offered some Cl shrimp chips to start; flat water +the chips added £10 ti the check. When paying, we saw a mandatory £8.99 service charge had been added (for service for 2).
Not the worst meal I've had - but 2-3 star Chinese restaurants in NYC serve up better food at a third of the price. read more
