    Desk and fridge

Location: Really close to alot of things. I could walk everywhere with ease Room: Okay, very small for a private one bedroom with private deattached bathroom . The room comes with a towel , hangers, fridge, desk and plenty of drawers. There's a TV but no remote (you can just press the buttons on the TV to change the channel). There's free WiFi but the password only lasts for 2 days. The deattached bathroom is only accessible with your room key and there's 3-4 of it on a floor. You get no shampoo , conditioner , body soap, lotion , or a wash cloth but it's a good thing that CVS is nearby. They do have hand soap but it's in a dispenser in the shower. The showerhead has a black thing you need to press it on the side if you want more water. Service: You might be wondering why the low rating, it's due to the lack of courtesy or service. I emailed them 2-3 months ago with questions by email and Hotels.com messaging but no answer was given. This morning, there was an older lady tending to the desk and seemed irritated. She would answer the question but with an annoyed tone. My question was how would I return my keys back to them if I had an early flight and she said give it to the security. She didn't seems to like it there However when I checked in at 3 pm, I was greeted by really polite people so I guess it depends on the worker you get Perks: -free gym, pool and sauna ($10 fee) -close to everywhere - relatively cheap ($125+ a night) Cons: - Limited bathrooms and no way to see if the bathrooms are vacant. When I was showering and brushing my teeth in the private bathroom, a guest tried to open the door that I locked. Instead of just leaving after realizing it was locked, he went and brought the manager that tried to break into the bathroom. After telling them I was in here, they left, but this happened again everyday I was there which annoyed me.

Review is for hotel only. This place is great for just a night or two in the city. We got a private room with a double bed and bathroom. It was small, but clean and that is more important to me than size - I know some people might prefer more luxury. That it is not! But it's a basic room and it's worth the money you spend (cheap for nyc). Also, the staff we encountered were really nice - no one gave us attitude and when we realized there was no toilet paper in our room, they were attentive and prompt with delivering it to our room. Highly recommended for an affordable nyc hotel.

The entire staff is very helpful when you ask what to do to obtain your goal. Now if you come to the gym to lose weight, you have to remember this place is just a tool. You need a proper diet to get the dream body you desire. Take full advantage of their cardio classes, because the weight will begin to shed instantly. Recommended classes: - Spin Classes with any of the instructors - Zumba - Aqua Zumba - Empower with Terrence - Kick box with Andrew The list goes on! Take my advice: stay quiet, have good music in the ear, take one cardio class and complete 1 hour weight training, steam room... Do this 5-6 days a week and see your results. You will see the change. I can rate the gym anyway I like, but your body transforms based on your actions. This gym gets 5 stars, because they have all tools needed to get that dream body!

I was on an assignment in NYC, Manhattan, for a couple of days. The hotel prices were astronomical, in the city. To find a less pricy hotel, I had to take the train to Qeens or Staten Island. That would have resulted in time and commute expenses. This YMCA was in walking distance, and cost me $115/nite. Had I been a woman, I would have hesitated. The restrooms and shower facilities are shared, though reasonably clean. I am a guy, and not particularly picky. The staff is nice and friendly. There is an eatery across the street. The room was very tiny, the street view was a back alley, and the window did not do much, obstructing the noise. Unless I increase my income, if I ever have to come back to NYC, this will be the place I will be staying.

For the gym/pool locker rooms...are the showers open or private? Basically want to know if I'll have some privacy in the men's locker room

In the locker rooms, we have individual showers with partitions which separate for the privacy of our members.

Is the West pool (the one for kids) heated? Can the floor be raised/lowered? Kind regard!

Hi Alvil, Thank you for contacting the Vanderbilt YMCA. The West pool is heated (temperature ranges from 85-87 degrees). Our pool floors do not lower or raise levels.

I have not been able to use Crunch for about 2 months because of a serious medical issue. I provided medical documentation from my doctor's office confirming the condition and asked for a medical freeze. Crunch gave me a one-month "courtesy" freeze (a.k.a ended up being the month that I paid in advanced in signup, laughable it's called courtesy), but refused to extend it unless I go back to my doctors and get a separate custom doctor's note on letterhead specifically for Crunch, stating the recommended duration away from gym activity. This is a monthly gym membership. Not a disability benefits filing. Not a government agency. Not a court proceeding. A gym membership. The way this policy comes across is almost comical: even if you were dealing with terminal illness, better make sure you ask your doctor for the special Crunch gym paperwork on letterhead before you die, because apparently normal medical documentation is not enough!!!!!!! No common-sense exception. No discretion. No recognition that someone with a serious medical issue may not want to waste doctors' time generating custom paperwork for a gym freeze. To be fair, the local staff responded quickly and politely. But the policy is ridiculous and this experience was outrageous enough that it motivated writing a negative review.. You would expect less b.s. than this paying $120 a month "Signature" tier. Maybe it's not the local branch's fault, but change the disgusting "corporate policy" please.

When you walk in, you are given some long shorts and a shirt in your size to change into in one of the three dressing rooms. You can then leave your belongings in one of the lockers and start your workout. Your instructor will wet a suit and then help you put it on and get all hooked up to the machine. This suit is a $5 one time rental or you can rent more permanently I believe. Afterwards, you will workout for 15-20 minutes doing some movements guided by your instructor, who also adjusts the intensity of the pulses the machine emits. They let me know this equals about 4 hours in the gym. The workout does get quite intense as most people are not familiar with the machine's pulsing sensations, but tensing your muscles does help! Afterwards, they encourage you to rest, stretch and drink water. There are showers available here as well. As I only went for the trial session and am not too familiar with this kind of fitness, I can't speak on the total efficacy of consistent sessions, but I will say the soreness I felt was real, and I imagine that this would probably be beneficial to some looking to diversify their training, especially those that might not have a full hour to devote to a workout that day. Unfortunately, my experience was one of the worst gym experiences I have ever had. When I arrived for my tour, the person who was supposed to give the tour wasn't there. Another employee named Mike stepped in. Before even getting to the tour, he started asking me a long series of questions. The entire interaction gave me a very uncomfortable feeling. The best words I can use to describe the experience are pretentious and patronizing. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was being interrogated. The questions kept coming one after another, and the overall tone made me so uncomfortable that I decided not to continue with the tour and left. Afterward, I texted Mike and explained how I felt. I told him that I felt interrogated and that the interaction had made me uncomfortable. To his credit, he apologized and offered for me to come back the next day for a tour and an hour-long training session. I agreed and returned the following Tuesday. What happened during that training session only reinforced my impression that the questions from the day before were not being asked from a place of genuine concern for my goals, health, or fitness journey. The reason I say that is because despite having spent a significant amount of time asking me questions the previous day, Mike appeared to remember virtually none of it. He asked me many of the exact same questions all over again. Even when I answered, it often felt like he wasn't really listening. The workout itself felt strangely structured. The first thing he had me do was get on a treadmill for 30 minutes. Personally, I usually stretch before working out because I believe in preparing and priming my body before exercise, but there was no stretching. I was simply put on the treadmill. While I was on the treadmill, he talked about being in a specific "fat-burning range." I am not convinced by that explanation and did not find it particularly convincing. He also told me that the walking I normally do is not enough. From my understanding, movement is movement, and fat loss primarily comes down to maintaining a caloric deficit. The advice left me questioning whether the information being presented was actually accurate. After putting me on the treadmill, Mike walked away. Thirty minutes later he came back and told me that this was not normally how he structures workouts and that normally exercise would come before cardio. That left me wondering why the session was being run this way in the first place. When we finally moved on to the exercises, I felt talked down to. For example, when he brought me to a hamstring curl machine, he asked whether I had ever seen or used a machine like that before. Maybe that question was innocent, but given the overall tone of our interactions, it came across as if he assumed I had never stepped foot in a gym before. What made that especially odd was that he had already asked whether I had a gym membership, and I had told him that I did. So being repeatedly spoken to in a way that felt dismissive or overly simplistic became frustrating. Another thing that stood out was the way the gym's equipment was discussed. GymU uses Panatta equipment, so I asked what specifically made the equipment special compared to equipment at other gyms. The answer I received focused primarily on the fact that it was expensive and that it was made by a famous bodybuilder. I was expecting an explanation about biomechanics, functionality, training advantages, or something related to performance. Instead, the emphasis seemed to be on prestige and price. Throughout the conversation, Mike repeatedly spoke about GymU as though it were the best gym in the world. Personally, I found that difficult to reconcile with my experience. There are many gyms with similar amenities and strong reputations, so I was left wondering what specifically justified that claim. After my training session, I used the sauna. In my opinion, it was surprisingly lukewarm. I barely broke a sweat. Then came the worst part of the entire experience. I went to take a shower, and when I stepped out, there were no mats or other visible slip-resistant surfaces where I exited. The floor was wet and slippery. I slipped, fell, and injured my right elbow. As I write this review, I have extremely limited mobility in that elbow. I have been doing nearly everything one-handed. I don't yet know the full extent of the injury, but the pain has been significant enough that it has affected my daily life, school responsibilities, and ability to get ready for my day. The experience was upsetting enough that I nearly had a breakdown from the frustration and pain. What disappointed me almost as much as th
