The day of my appointment I was ten minutes late (thanks, rainy Nashville traffic) but the office was very accommodating (I called to let them know that I would be late). Everyone was super friendly and patient, from reception to assistant techs and the physician herself. I felt well informed, respected, and heard during my appointment. I came in with a worrisome mole, which they were able to send off to labs immediately. The procedure was quick, painless, and I was pleased with the communication of aftercare. Every step of the way I was informed about what they were doing, if there would be any additional cost, and there was room for questions. I am glad to have found a provider so close to home that provides quality care. I strongly recommend Curcio Dermatology!

Absolutely horrible experience - avoid this practice at all costs…read more I visited Curcio Dermatology in Nashville for a very minor skin irritation while I was in the U.S. The entire appointment lasted maybe 10 minutes. At check-out I specifically asked about any copay or balance because I live overseas and wanted to settle everything before leaving the country. I was told verbatim, "You're all set, nothing is owed today." Fast forward almost a full year later: my relatives in the U.S. forwarded me a collections notice for a $40 copay plus an additional ~$200 that my insurance had apparently already paid them. When I reached out (politely) to explain that I was told I owed nothing and asked for clarification, the response was immediate hostility. I was bombarded with aggressive emails from their billing person "Amu," complete with threats to send me to collections and damage my credit, even though I no longer live in the United States. It's now obvious what happened: they submitted an inflated or incorrect claim to my insurance, got paid more than they should have, and then tried to double-dip by billing me for the copay a year later when insurance wouldn't cover it retroactively. When I pointed out that I was explicitly told "you're all set" at the visit, they didn't care and just escalated the threats. Had I read the dozens of similar reviews complaining about predatory billing practices, surprise bills months or years later, and outright harassment from their billing department, I never would have stepped foot in this office. The medical care itself was ok (it was literally a 10-minute visit for something trivial), but the billing side is unethical and borderline predatory. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else in Nashville. There are plenty of excellent dermatologists who don't resort to threats and collections scams over $40. Completely unacceptable. I will never return and strongly advise others to steer clear.

As for the negatives, if you work for either big healthcare company that is in Nashville I would not suggest going here. I verified ahead of time that this office was in network for my insurance. Unfortunately, they send the pathology results through some little lab in Columbia that I doubt anyone's insurance fully pays for. Be prepared to get a HUGE pathology bill, even though I asked repeatedly before making an appointment if they used hospital based labs. As long as you are prepared to pay a large bill out of pocket, I would recommend them as fine. If you are trying to let your insurance do what insurance is supposed to do though, I would advise getting clarifications from the office before booking an appointment here.

I recently had my first visit with Dr. Starnes and it was a great experience. She was very kind, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Every time I walked into her spa to ask about a service or buy a product the receptionist looked me up and down no matter if I was dressed wonderfully or dressed in my sweats. They also charge a fee to discuss what procedures you'd like to have done and then if you don't need the procedure, the money doesn't go towards products or any other services.

The center uses their own products and they get amazing results! The only reason I did not give 5 stars, is that I felt like I would have liked more information about the product while I was there. I was looking for a dermatologist for our family. A lot of people recommended Dr. Franklin. I see a…read moredisturbing trend lately. Everyone trying to push you off on a PA. I am not interested, and it should be a personal choice. I chose to try this office when apparently they were making some personnel changes. I had to wait 3 months, and I did specify the Dr., not the PA. When they called to confirm mine, they said it was with the PA. I told him no, I made the appt. with the Dr. He said no, and he also said there was not difference between a Dr. and a PA. So I said well, we are going to have to agree to disagree, and I wanted to reschedule. So he said he had an appt. 3 months later. I cancelled and called to tell the office mgr. exactly what I thought about this. They apologized and offered to call me when there was a cancellation. That was very nice, and I did get an appt. within a couple of weeks. So about those personnel changes. They have a nurse there, oh nooo. She rubbed me wrong right off the bat. Condescending, rude. I hate to judge after one meeting, so I will tell you that was confirmed after my second visit with my son. What's funny is my son looked at me after she walked out and said, oh I do not like her. So he was stuck seeing the PA, and she was nice enough, but I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE PA. So first visit, she put him on a med, kind of expensive. No samples. I hate that. You have a teen trying an expensive acne med, and no samples. So he tried it, and it was not good. We went back, and she wanted to give him FInacea. I thought that sounded familiar. The PA also said she uses it. The horrible nurse said it's expensive, so I asked for a sample. She said no samples. Hmmm, the PA uses this expensive med, and you have no samples. So I look it up, and it's a Rosacea med. It's not marketed for acne in young teens. I did not want to spend $200+ for that, to try. I called and said can I wait for samples, she said they do not expect to get any. Whatever. I am done with them. I'm going someplace else.
