I've been going to Vanessa and having my hair styled by Carol for over a literal decade. I've grown up from high school, through college, work, and now in graduate school, and I still go to Carol because that is just how much I trust her with my hair! I have a lot of hair, and it is thick and dark and can be difficult to understand how to style in a flattering way. I've gotten many cuts, several Japanese hair straightening treatments, a prom styling, and a few different colors over the years, and I have never been disappointed. Carol is, in a word, incredible. She will work with you to figure out what works best for you, your hair, and your lifestyle. 1) Cuts. I've had bangs, short hair, and long, layered hair all done here. Carol always double checks with you to see what you would prefer at every stage. My job requires me to tie my hair back, for example, so we always make sure my hair is left long enough to be neatly pulled back. 2) Treatments. Carol actually recommended the hair straightening treatment to me back in high school as I was having trouble handling my thick, wavy and frizzy hair at the time. Though the treatment took hours, I was left with beautifully sleek, long lasting hair. That was back in 2013. I have gone approximately once a year since then to have the treatment done, and it is worth every penny. My hair has become much more manageable (especially in the summer!), and Carol has been able to adjust the strength of the treatment to match how my hair texture has changed over time. 3) Coloring. I've had 3 different balayages and 1 solid color done here. Carol and I always discuss beforehand what is possible for my hair. As I mentioned, my hair is naturally very dark, almost a true black, and was usually grown out in my natural color when I went in for a coloring appointment. When I want to color my hair, I show Carol a few pictures and we talk about which ones may be edited and which ones would require a lot of time to lighten, process, and tone. On Carol's suggestion, we usually go for balayage since I'm usually not able to go in for touchups and need a style that grows out well. More than anything, Carol is very honest about how long it will take to process your hair, and is absolutely willing to spend time to work with you to make sure you love the result. To top it all off, both Carol and Lisa are warm, welcoming, and talkative, and so it is a real treat when I get to go see them for a few hours! Leaving with fantastic hair is the cherry on top. I have to say Carol(the hair stylist) and her boss are talkative but I strongly question about their professional skills as a hair stylist. I came in this morning for my hair cut and to color my hair. I showed Carol an online picture of a girl's hair and told her that's the color I want. The color is showed as picture 1. After 4 hours later, I got a golden yellow instead( the picture 2). The boss said" it is so pretty!" I doubt about it. I said" it is too yellow and that's not what the color I showed her this morning" Carol said " I think this color does not fit your profession I will redo your color this afternoon" Then the boss ask for 250 dollars for the hair cut and color service. I gave 10 dollars for tips and the boss said it is too little. "Usually we got 20 dollars or 30 dollars for tips." Then I paid total $270 for the hair cut plus coloring service and tips. She told me the hair cut price is $38 dollars and $212 is for the hair coloring service. Then I came back in the afternoon, Carol redo my hair twice in the afternoon and gave me a yellowish green or greenish yellow hair. (Picture 3) It is not the color I showed her! I showed her the color I want this morning and also this afternoon before she did anything. I paid $270 for my hair and what I got is not even close to what I showed her. If you can not do it, let me know in front. She tried to persuade me to let her color my hair another time. I refused because I already gave her a second chance and she failed. I don't what her to touch my hair anymore. I asked for my money back but they refused. They said we don't give money back. You can call the police. I called police and the officer said I should sue them on a small claim court for my money back. I will do that and I felt shamed for them. Poor service, greedy and bad attitude. read more

Now I am a happily married Bride!!!! Carol listened to what I envision myself in and gave me some great suggestions. Carol has work in the makeup and hair industry for a very long time so she know what she is doing. I bought pictures for her to re-create the look I wanted for my big day. She also helped me with jewelry selections that match my overall look. Basically, they are there to help you to create the perfect look you want for your wedding day. The whole process was so enjoyable with no pressure from (Trial to the actual wedding day) On my wedding day, she came over to my house (ON TIME). I went here for a haircut after hearing about it at work. I heard Tina only works on Fridays and Saturdays so I made an appointment for Friday afternoon. I was a bit nervous as I wanted an asymmetrical bob and had never had anything as dramatic before. Tina was super nice and I showed her some pictures of the haircut I wanted. As a low maintenance person, I soon realized that I actually did care about 2 things for my wedding: 1. My dress and 2. Hair and Makeup. I went to Taiwan to have engagement photos done. The people there are uh-mazing. Photos turned out stellar. I came back to Boston thinking that it would be easy to re-create the look I had for my photos and I was shocked to learn, this was simply not true. I had several trials done and all were sub-par. Shockingly bad at premium prices. Now I don't know how the makeup would have been with other artists that came highly rated in magazines or "best of" lists, but I did inquire into a dozen places and the prices were outrageous and in another league. Then enter, Vanessa Bridal. This is the second store (first being in Taiwan). I knew I had to give it a try. I brought along a few pictures for Carol to see and I loved what she did for my trial hair and makeup. Carol has worked on celebrities and has years and years of experience. It was a no brainer and I hired her on the spot. Carol will be traveling onsite with a team of 2-3 (no additional charge) to do hair and makeup for myself, 4 MOHs, and additional family members. Her prices are reasonable and worth the comfort of knowing I will be taken care of on the big day. She also went out of her way to find my designer label MOHs dresses and gave me a stellar stellar price that I couldn't find online or in other discount bridal shops. They should be arriving soon as will my wedding, so I will post an update once we get there. All in all for now, Vanessa Bridal is fantastic and they will go out of their way to make you happy and get what you want. Vanessa can help you create the gown of your dreams! I did! Have a vision of what you want your pictures to look like or are you just not sure? Vanessa can help you with that too! I started out by getting a relaxing and refreshing facial from Michelle. A few days later we had our wedding portrait shoot. I know many brides wait until the day of the ceremony to get their portraits done. Do it beforehand so you have more time to enjoy the ceremony and reception! Photos that day should be mostly natural shots! Carol did my hair and makeup and I had never felt so beautiful. Everything was perfect! We spend the entire day with their photographer, Mills, and had a great time. It was pouring out and luckily the sun came out in the afternoon and we got some great outdoor shots! My husband and I practiced a few dance moves with the dance instructor, Joe. He even helped my father and I for the father/daughter dance. I love Vanessa's Bridal. They always treat me with genuine kindness, and truly want to do what is best for me, based on MY needs. The facials w/ shoulder massage are heavenly, I mean HEAVENLY, and long, too. Carol is very talented with cutting and styling hair. Carol is the best make-up artist and hair stylist I've ever seen! Before I found Vanessa Bridal, I tried three other places, and none of them came up with the feeling and style I hoped for my wedding. I was extremely disappointed and did not even bother looking for more options until I met Carol and Carol's team. After a few words with Carol, she soon grabbed my concepts, and came up with the hairstyle and make-up exactly as I wished! It gave me a very romantic and warm look that suited my personality. On my wedding day, Carol's team arrived one hour earlier. The way Carol talked to me made me much more calm. Her team also did my three Bridesmaids' make up and hairstyle. Each Bridesmaid had her own hairstyle and make up style that suited her best, while all three of them maintained the same romantic feeling that I hoped for for my seaside wedding. This review is for both the makeup artist and the photographer. Carol and Joyce were both very professional when I met them and they sit you down for an hour and show you pictures of past brides so you can get an idea of what to expect. I also know that they had experience in the bridal makeup industry in Taiwan, where I'm from. I wanted to go to a place where they would know how to enhance asian features and I was not disappointed. My hair and makeup on the day of was great! I didnt really like the makeup on the trial day though, luckily they didnt repeat that and used make up colors that matched my dress. She was on time (7am!) in the morning which was great, although I probably shoudl have allowed more than 1.5 hours to do the hair and makeup as it was a bit rushed. So plan for at least 2 hours if doing both hair and makeup. The photographer, Mills was very hard working and creative. He's also a fun person so it made the picture taking more relaxing and enjoyable. He worked non stop throughout the whole day, no joke. I had to force him to take a break and eat something. I got tired before he did and a million pictures later at 7pm I finally called it quits! You have to wait 1 month for the pictures and he allows you to reprint and reproduce the pictures ot friends and family at no extra cost. He also does some minor retouching which turned out great. Note you shouldnt get your photos printed at walmart because they will not believe that the photos are not protected by a copyright unless they see a release form, so ask for that if you need one. If I could give them a zero I would. My little sister is going to prom and she so upset about how her prom hair came out. It was nothing like the picture she showed, which was supposed to be a simple half up half down with curls. She rushed home to have me help fix her hair. I go to Vanessa Spa every week for deep tissue body and foot massage. It's my must-haves after a stressful week at work. The place is tastefully decorated and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. I hired Carol for my bridal party makeup and hair styling over 14 years ago, and I have been a loyal fan since. My sister who lives in CA also hired Carol and flew her to CA for her wedding makeup & hair. My 5-year-old daughter who is a professional model and often goes to casting calls & commercial photo shoots also goes to Vanessa spa when preparation is needed. Went in for the $15.99 haircut by Tina (Tues & Thurs only) today. I walk by often and am always tempted to go in, and today I finally did, and I'm so glad I did. The little head massage I got when she was washing my hair was worth the $15.99 alone, nevermind the double shampoo, awesome condition, temple/neck massage, and a WONDERFUL haircut. I had my hair done here for my wedding, and also got my hair cut beforehand. Carol is extremely talented and is able to create or recreate looks to suit your face and overall style. She also explains why something will suit you or not, and is very patient in the process. I brought pictures of a hair style that Angelina Jolie had at a red carpet event, and she modified it to suit me and I literally couldn't have asked for a better hair style for my wedding day. I booked V Bridal for my bridesmaids. I had a large wedding party and ended up having to book two separate vendors. I worked with Carol who was very friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. She brought an assistant the day of for a bridal party of 6 so it was pretty fast. Most got their hair done and it all looked great. The maid of honor got her make-up done as well and at first, the eye make-up was way too heavy, but we just simply said so, and she changed it, no problem, and she ended up looking gorgeous the whole night.
