We ordered the pan fried pork and chive dumplings which are my favorite as well as the scallion pancakes both were delicious. I love this place more than the union square location. A great snack - not the best dumpling in NYC but for the price point and convenience it's awesome. Better than I remember than the authentic chinatown one in manhattan - u lose the authentic feel but this one is comfortable to eat in and has a lot of seating. great for large groups esp after a happy hour. pork and chive fried is always good. sandwiches are tasty. boiled veggie is healthier, possibly, but not as delicious by any means as the pork and chive fried, for sure. noodle soup looked good. read more

Came in and split an assortment of dumplings, plus a few with a friend and enjoyed each one. Great for a quick bite to eat. The line moved fairly quickly to order. Some couple tables, mostly in the back large tables / community seating. Definitely a few people over staying, one even sleeping at the table. Would definitely come back. read more

This place is a great value. The food is pretty good, not great, but everything is fairly cheap. The best items I had were the Scallion Pancake Sandwich with peking duck meat, along with the hot and spicy shrimp wontons. I might avoid the Dan Dan noodles and go to Han Dynasty instead if you can (where the Dan Dan is much better). Yes, it is carb heavy, but it's oh so satisfying. Guessing they use the same dumplings as the Vanessa's in their Chinatown location, but they're not nearly as well cooked here. Maybe give it some time, but they're sometimes overcooked here, which is especially bad at Vanessa's because their skins are thicker than usual so they're too chewy or burnt or etc. It's still decent and cheap, and I'll eat there only because the other Chinese options in WB (M's Noodle, etc) are terrible. read more

The staff here is always so disrespectful. I dont know who hired them to be honest. They play trap music WAY TOO loud, and the explicit versions of them talking about "fucking bitches". They have no uniform, no dress code. They wear sweats, and revealing shirts, hoop earrings and flip flops. They have no respect at all and look angry at you when you speak to them. I've even heard them calling the Asian cooks "FLAT FACE," and taunting them. This place has great food, so take it to go cause these employees are unbarable. read more

Me and some buddies came here at 10pm on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy and we had to wait for a table to open up. There was a very passionate older asian gentlemen making my bubble tea drink and he seems very meticulous through out the process. Visited Brooklyn in July and Vanessa's happened to be a 30 second walk from where we were staying. This place is so cheap and the dumplings are delicious!! You will get full for under 8$, and the beer is extremely cheap as well :) Next time I visit Brooklyn, this will be the first stop I go to! read more

Bring your own Sriracha! The dumplings are tasty with plenty of filling and many choices. The scallion pancake sandwiches are amazing and the cilantro adds a nice bánh mì touch. Will defs be back. Maybe again tonight. The only problem was the Sriracha sauce was WATERED DOWN? Which ruined my dumplingasm. I checked out various bottles in the restaurant and they were all too liquidy. Overall a nice addition to Williamsburg just remember to stuff a bottle of Sriracha in yer coat pocket when you go and maybe some shades too cos it's so brightly lit. I really like Vanessa's. Their food is innovative yet traditional and always cures my craving for dumplings. I have gone there repeatedly and have ALWAYS been pleased with what I ordered. The quality of the food is high, no mystery meat here. Thus far, I have had the pork and chive dumplings and the pork and cabbage dumplings (they come like 4 to an order for around $1.50, which is an amazing deal!), which taste great. Also had the spicy wontons and the steamed shrimp dumplings which I liked as well. One standout is the sesame pancake sandwich with the duck. What a great great sandwich. It's like eating Peking duck at a Chinese restaurant, tons of flavor, a nice amount of duck and the hoisin sauce tie it all together. Vanessa, keep doing what you're doing! read more

Terrible on all accounts. 25 minute wait for pork fried dumplings?!? They were okay, but not special. The vegetable dumplings must have been 10 days old and hard as a rock. They didn't have enough for a whole order, so they replaced one of them with a 5 day old pork and cabbage dumpling. The shrimp dumplings were meh. AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst service ever. The tard who takes your order is super jazzed about his job, which is great.....too bad he and the rest of his coworkers are completely incompetent. I think these workers are trained to do two things, look at orders or each other for long periods of time and run back and forth with no real destination. We had a pretty disappointing experience at Vanessa's! I was so excited to check it out. My boyfriend and I showed up on a Saturday night to a pretty crowded space. We ordered a dumpling soup, a scallion pancake sandwich, and one order of dumplings. And then we waited. And waited. And...continued to wait. We asked about our order at one point (I think ~45 minutes into this process) and received a shrug and no further information. Our food ended up taking about 1.5 hours to come out, which was really frustrating, because we were both pretty hungry. I understand that it was a Friday night and they were busy, but this does seem kind of absurd to me, to wait 90 minutes for a small order. I ultimately was also kind of disappointed in the food. The broth of my dumpling soup was very bland and watery, and didn't taste like much. The dumplings themselves were good, but nothing to write home about. The scallion pancake sandwich was the definite winner -- it was crispy, flavorful, and super good. I would actually like to try Vanessa's again, because it feels like we had a weirdly bad experience, but I definitely won't go back on a weekend night. read more

Holy crap, this Vanessa's dumpling house is way different from the one across the river. It's like a night and day difference to the LES location. If you've ever been to their original location, this place is like a mansion. Everything is nicely decorated, clean tile floors, beautiful warm wood on the walls, and everything is spotless. Even their tables and chairs are new. Compare that one to across the river and you'll realize just how much nicer this store is. Thankfully, their prices are still rock bottom so you can get your dumpling face on for 4 for $1.25. read more

I'm traveling from Rhode Island for a concert, and have been on a mission to find some great places to eat as well while I'm in NYC. I came across this place after going to a store nearby, and I am definitely not leaving New York without coming back for seconds! The dumplings are amazing, perfectly cooked and the flavor is great. But the sesame pancake sandwich (pork) was AMAZING. I split one with my boyfriend and we wanted to order another! This has easily been the best meal on this trip, but also one of the best things I've ever eaten. 10/10 would eat here many many more times. read more
