This is my favorite of all the Xi'an locations and it's not close! I always get a seat in the spacious back room, the kitchen staff pull the noodles thin enough without me having to ask so they're cooked to the perfect texture, and their bathroom is always clean. Get the n9 spicy if you want every noodle covered in delicious minced pork saucy goodness, and get a side of the tiger vegetable salad so you can mix some acid/cilantro and hot peppers into your noodles for contrast. read more

I wasn't sure what cuisine Xi'an Foods specialized in. Looking at the menu, it seems like noodles with meats, like lamb, beef and pork, in spicy broth, as well as some meat/veggie dumplings. We ordered two noodle soups: one with beef and one with pork. Both were very delicious. I liked the chunky beef better than the shredded pork. The super star actually was the noodles, which are noodles freshly pulled on the spot. The moist, chewy noodles soak up the rich savory flavor of the broth. They are much more flavorful than dry noodles. We also got a spicy cumin beef burger. The cumin beef was very aromatic, smoky, and tasty. It was a bit oily though. Service was fast. I see why this place is so popular and viral on TikTok, I came up to New York from Mississippi just to try it and let me tell you something, there's not a lot of places that hand make their Chinese food or makes it authentic. This food was so good and had the perfect amount of spice. The service was great, me and my friends got our food in less that 20mins. read more

Frankly disappointing. Was nearby and saw this place had some good reviews so we headed over. Should have read the bad reviews. Didn't realize this was a chain restaurant and the food was clearly manufactured off site and just heated up here. The noodles were so thick that they were tough. All the sauces were mostly just chili oil with extra oil. We were very hungry so we ate enough to temper our hunger but threw away most of the food. The yelp description says "vibrant decor" and that must be a joke. The room we ate in was a big white room with metal cafeteria tables. read more

These noodles are healing! I normally pass this place when iam rushing to or from someplace but today I was finally able to try it out. Its a small casual dining spot. Some tables for dine in. Menu is small but when noodles and dumplings are on the menu - what can go wrong? You can also make some adjustments to spice level. I was initially skeptical about the dumplings. They advertise them as being spicy & sour, which initially sounded like an odd combo. But it works. I loved my noodle and pork dish. If you love noodles and dumplings with some spice, iam sure you'll love this place too. Very carb heavy but very good As some people have said, it does get busy and they make the food when you order it, so it does take some waiting time. There's also a kiosk when you go in to order but you can also order at the counter. read more

Xi'an famous Foods gained notoriety for its quality hand pulled noodles and bold flavors. This location in Brooklyn upholds that same quality and flavor in a no frills environment. Upon entering, you order from a kiosk and within minutes are served your food of choice! On this visit, I opted for the spicy cumin lamb noodles and they didn't disappoint. During your visit, you'll see a sign that mentions ordering the food "not spicy" would tremendously alter the flavor and I agree. I would recommend trying to bear the spice even if you aren't a big fan of spicy foods because they add a tremendous amount of flavor. The noodles were bouncy yet firm with each bite. The lamb was tender and coated with cumin to add additional flavor to the spicy soup. Overall, Xi'an Famous foods is a must try if you're looking for hand pulled noodles and can brave some spice. PSA: make sure to grab an abundance of napkins as the soup can splash and stain and become a nightmare if you're wearing a white shirt! read more

The noodle has a great texture and the lamb melts in your mouth. The hot oil is hot, grab some napkins for your nose. The portion is big (and the food is oily), so I got a to-go container for the other half of the portion I couldn't finish. Service is efficient and tips are included. read more

This place serves you food quickly. You order at the kiosk, then go to the kitchen to pick up the food. You can sit anywhere you want. At the kiosk, you have to pay with credit card. Our order didn't look too far from what was pictured on the kiosk! The noodles were great. They were too spice-y for me. I feel like I could choke with each bite because the noodles were thick and long too. There was so much chili oil everywhere. This was hard to eat without making a huge mess. This place is usually great but something was off about it today, the dumplings were undercooked and my noodles were way too spicy, i usually get normal spicy and they were un eatable. I hope that this gets resolved soon. Also the customer service seemed off, they didn't bother to put my drinks in the bag or wrap the bag appropriately read more

I liked Xi'an's and so when I went to visit my friend who worked nearby for lunch I was happy to see there was a Xi'an's nearby. We walked on over and there one person ahead and a few people waiting. There were signs about the spice levels and because it had been a while I demurred from the spiciest option and got medium; for my pork Pork 'Zha Jiang' Noodles and the Sweet and spicy lamb dumplings in broth. While both were good, I think I may have psyched myself out when it came to the spice levels. I definitely could have used a little more punch to both, but they were both tasty. I have to say I liked the noodles a little better- they were a little more substantial and had enough broth on their own, it felt like I got two broth dishes. read more

After my first Xi'an experience, I knew I would make an attempt to come back on every subsequent trip. Luckily they have tons of locations which makes it easier. This time I got Pork "Zha Jiang" Hand-Ripped Noodles and they didn't disappoint. The hand ripped noodles are to die for. I do wish they would add some outdoor seating, since none of the locations we've been to so far have it (and it's so common to find outdoor seating in NYC these days). If you haven't been, this should be at the top of your NYC food bucket list in my opinion. read more

This was my second time going to this chain but my first time at this location. I was not a huge fan the first time but I was willing to give it a try again. I went to X'ian before a show and ordered their beef noodles and dumplings. Everything on the menu is either beef or pork so this is not a spot for those who don't eat either. The counter where you order is cool because you can also see them pulling the noodles. At this location they also have an enclosed back space with more seating, and a TV showing the documentary on them. The dumplings and noodles are super flavorful. They have great spice, which you can ask to increase or lower. The noodles are continuous so if you aren't good with chopsticks you can get forks and knives easily. I definitely want to try other locations and see if there are more chicken options, but for my once in a while beef dish it was delicious and I'd go back again. read more

Had the cumin lamb. Holy moly it was so flavorful and delish! Quick service. Cheesy plastic utensils. I'm pretty good with chopsticks but due to the length and thickness of the noodles it was hard to eat easily without risking splatters of nuclear red hot chili oil that would probably never come out of my shirt. These hand-pulled spicy noodles are to die for. I looove carbs and these thick, chewy noodles are perfect. The more "bite" the better. I got the Oxtail Hand-Ripped Noodles with the mild spicy level. The lamb dumplings were just okay to me, but I'm not really a fan of lamb in the first place. The cold chrysanthemum tea was super refreshing, especially at the end of the meal! I really like how they have not spicy, mild spicy, spicy, and extra spicy options. My friends all have different spicy tolerance levels, so these options allowed everyone to enjoy the food. I can't wait to come back and try the noodle soups! read more

I am OBSESSED with Xi'an Famous Foods. After living on the UES, literally two blocks away from a Xi'an Famous Foods, I was bummed when I moved to Queens and was 30+ minutes away from one. As a former frequenter, I highly recommend their spicy cumin lamb noodles, their stewed pork noodle soup and their cucumber salad. Their signature spicy chili oil is in almost all of their food and it's what makes it amazing. Their noodles, of course, are handmade too-- they're thick and chewy with the perfect amount of bite. They also provide generous portions and it's one of the few places in NYC where you can get a meal under 15 bucks. Don't walk to Xi'an Famous Foods, run there now! read more

Always great quality hand pulled noodles no matter which location you go to. Fresh and so flavorful (and spicy if you can handle it). I love the burger since the "buns" are just enough carbs and a little bit crunchy. Perfect to soak up all the sauces. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the noodles, just pick your favorite protein and spice level. Absolute perfection for a cold night. Dumplings are a hit or miss. My sister wasn't a fan of the thick skin (probably would be tastier if fried), but I don't mind it. Helps hold in all the juices. Most locations have limited seating. read more

My sister and I went to Xian almost ten years later. And we were so happy to have their famous hand pulled noodles again! My sister got the spicy cumin lamb which is a classic. There are three levels of spicy you can choose from mild, regular and extra. We both got regular spicy and we both thought that the spiciness of the food had gone down. We regretted not getting extra spicy as the last time we had Xian noodles the regular spicy was super spicy. The chili oil also seemed to be lacking the numbing peppercorn taste which we loved before. The noodles themselves were chewy and delicious. I regretted not getting a hand pulled noodles dish. Mine turned out to be a regular noodle dish but it was still delicious. The service was great, the servers at the counter were very gracious with helping us make our choices. The place itself is very small and has limited seating but it does have a bathroom. I would definitely get the extra spicy next time if you like spicy food. read more

good customer services and they're very calm & no judgement vibe. you can order either touch panel or at the cashier. using Touch panel, you can't pay in Cash. But, by the cashier you can pay in Cash. After your order, waiting time is less than 5min. they have large space in the back. So no worry if you come with bunch of Friends! 10-20 will fit easily and at night time, it's almost empty all the time :) There's a bathroom as well. I first went to Xi'an famous foods 4 years ago and loved it. I kept thinking about it, and when I had the opportunity to go back to New York, this was definitely on the list. We ordered the chang'an tofu, tiger vegetable salad, Liang pi cold noodles, and lamb cumin noodles. This food was much better in my memories. The lamb cumin noodles tasted freshly made and thick. However, the taste wasn't the same. Maybe I'm used to Szechuan food in San Gabriel Valley back in California. The cold noodles were a little flavorless. The tiger salad was pretty tasty. Just as good as any of the other locations in the city. They had closed for a while during the pandemic but they reopened and are busier than ever! This location is efficient in taking orders and turning them around in 10 mins or less, if you are picking up or dining in. Their menu changed recently, they don't have old favorites like the chicken hand pulled noodles anymore but they have a vegan/vegetarian option which is great. The sauce is so good and the noodles have the perfect bite, you won't even miss the protein. I think every neighborhood in the city needs a Xian Famous Foods. read more

Xi'an Famous Foods is my must-eat spot whenever I visit NY. I frequent this location because it's the closest to my brother's apartment. I've tried both the cumin lamb and cumin beef noodles, and both are amazing! It's pretty much a pick-up and go location with very limited seating. My go to takeout spot in Greenpoint. We usually order the lamb and spinach soup dumplings - really hits the spot in these cold winter months. I have tried the tingly beef noodle dish as well and it is heavenly. The only problem with the noodle dish is that often times you get really fatty pieces of meat. I really take pleasure in ordering from Xian because they are consistent and the value is amazing too. read more

Oddly, this was actually the first time I ate at Xi'an famous foods and of all locations, Greenpoint. It's mostly Szechuan style, which means heavy in chili peppers and spice. At Xi'an, the focus is cumin and chili. The filling of the dumplings have a mushy meat consistency which is pretty good. It's not your typical 5 for $1 type dumpling. The dumplings are huge and it's definitely not $1. The lamb cumin noodles are bomb. The noodles are never ending and the taste is amazing. If you don't mind the gigantic pool of oil at the end, you'll enjoy this. Note it is a bit spicy. I would say 90% of the menu is spicy. She got the oxtail soup noodle which was good. Oxtail was legit but she felt the 20 ft noodles were hard to eat. Again, tasted great going down. However, it didn't feel great coming out. read more

3.5 stars: Finally was able to try one of the locations of XFF. Ultimately, it was a little overrated in my opinion. Tried the spicy cumin lamb noodles and side of the spicy cucumber salad while a friend tried the spicy cumin lamb burger. It seemed like there was more spice than flavor in the noodles, not too say that it was an overwhelming spice by any means, but rather the flavor was lacking. I didn't personally try the burger but it sounded like that may have been the better option if you're between the two versions of the dish. Overall, probably won't be back but it was fine for a quick lunch. read more

You know it's a good sign when the place is packed! You could smells the spices wafting through at least one or two stores down They have affordable prices since it's one of those fast casual places. Staff are friendly and it's quite a sight to see them make noodles on site. Whoever was smacking the noodles probably gets an intense workout Ordered the Lamb Noodles with soup- the soup was piping hot all the way until the bottom of the bowl. I was quite surprised! A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I would give this place 0 star if there is an option for it. its that bad. this is the worse place ever. I went here with my boyfriend and the cook and manager were so rude. I can barely believe how they treat their customers. They were being very rude and disrespectful hence my BF asked him why is he being an asshole and then the cook interfered by calling my boyfriend names. we contacted the owner Jason Wang to file a complain at jason@xianfoods.com his number is 240 389 3861 and this is his reply XXXXXX, We investigated and found out the whole story. Because the new cashier does not know our policies and rules, she made the mistake of promising extra meat to you. This is not allowed by policy, and any violation is a direct disobedience of my direct orders. The main cashier who's training her (and cooking) corrected it, once in the beginning and once at the end when you asked for extra chili oil. We do not provide extra chili oil on the side, but have containers of it in the dining area you can add yourself. The cook said you can add chili yourself, is right. Thwarting their authority and telling the new cashier to do things for you is total disrespect for my policy, and you put her in a tough spot. Now, on the topic of you calling my employees assholes. Let me make it clear, if you cuss at my employees, you lose the right to complain to me. If you called me an asshole for following our policy in the stores, I would've thrown you out. Employees are our first set of customers, and come before customers. Be respectful. If you should have an issue, tell us and we can fix it and you would be in the right, but once you crossed that line, you have disrespected hardworking people and I don't blame my employees for being short with you. They had poured some sweet and sour sauce over the top. The fried rice tasted like onions: certain the spring roll was from a box of pre-packaged rolls. Prices have gone up: the food is just horrible. Very sad. Yes, I paid full price and ate very little. I will never go back.

I am always pleased with their food. Their udon noodles are really great. 1. Shrimp Tom Yum Soup was great! Shrimp Tom Yum Soup was great! great balance of shrimp, squash, mushroom, and other veggies :) very satisfying 2. Scallon Pancakes tasted as if they were deep fried. They were also very oily and soggy. Unlike other scallion pancakes I've eaten that where crispy. Will not be reordering.

I ordered pork fried rice, moo shoo beef, sweet and sour chicken and veggie lo mein. All were fantastic and the food arrived hot as well. The veggie lo mein stood out particularly for some reason.

I happened to order the shrimp lo mein and I think I counted 3 baby shrimp. DO NOT ever get the boneless spare ribs. I've tried it twice. Each time, I was given thin strips of leather like, fatty "meat". Not digestable at all. As mentioned, I gave them 2 chances with that dish and it was horrid each time ending up in the trash. I won't be trying anymore dishes.
