Ordered from Uber Eats last night. I have been trying to find a good Chinese takeout since I moved to the area 3 years ago and this might be it. The food arrived quickly, was well-seasoned and everything I would expect form a good-quality NYC Chinese takeout place. I will definitely order from here again. This is my second review here. I just wanted to update and give it 5 stars just due to how much better this place is than every other Chinese takeout I've had here in Bushwick. They do NOT skimp on your food. They fill the tray up. I've ordered chicken and broccoli combo, sweet and sour combo and sesame chicken combo. These are my people!!!! Been ordering from them for over ten years. (One time, when I recommended this place to my co-workers, the man who came to deliver let my company know I've been his customer for a decade! haha classic!!) Everyone here is really cool. In my 10+ years of eating here, there's been a small mistake MAYBE 5 times, and they're ALWAYS willing to correct it. Delivery is fast, and I love the food. It's your typical Chinese restaurant faire, but I think they do it better than some of the other local places here. That said, this isn't a higher end restaurant, so don't expect anything super fancy. Don't skimp on the delivery tips either, because this business definitely works hard to bring you the goods, no matter the weather. I'll be eating here for another ten years! read more

I got the cashew chicken, egg fried rice, and sweet potato tempura rolls. The only good thing was the fried rice and even that was bland. My cashew chicken was like all the ingredients were thrown in and sauce was poured on right before it came. Nothing was cooked in the sauce, the veggies (only carrots and celery) were not even cooked. And the water chestnuts were fresh out of a can and still tasted like a can. Why would anyone give this place such harsh reviews? I was initially not going to order from here based on the mixed feedback but decided to ignore my mind momentarily because my gut was just too curious. They picked up the phone quickly. I ordered general tzao's chicken, low mien and wantons. They were here within half an hour, complete pro's. So far so good. Since it's christmas eve I decided to tip the guy way more than he was anticipating and he was so happy it melted my heart. He even said "no, too much" with the most humble expression on his face. The food arrived warm and I wasn't starving so my analysis of the food was not bias towards intense hunger ;) I told myself I would eat half now half later. Didn't happen. All gone. Chicken was delicious as orange as you'd expect to be lol The portions were pretty large given the price. This is the first time I write a review because I felt it necessary to start a yelp account. General Tsos chicken, Sweet and Sour tofu w/ white rice, cheese wontons, spicy garlic shrimp= amazing. I've also gotten a few sushi rolls which haven't been bad either (Philadelphia roll is great). I started ordering from this place a few months ago since they participate with Seamless which means not only do I get to keep my lazy ass inside my apartment, but I also don't have to communicate with anyone over the phone. I have been inside a few times and it is by far the nicest and cleanest looking Chinese take-out spot in the neighborhood. They take credit card where most places don't and they also have Japanese food and I order sushi a lot. That being said, I've noticed that a few times the cucumber in my sushi has tasted a little funny. I'm not a huge fan of cucumber anyway but in sushi I deal because it's such a small amount. Not a huge concern but it does take a little enjoyment out of an otherwise pretty flawless experience. Order the shrimp, I'm not even kidding, it's the best thing there. Fresh tasting, not over cooked, generous portions. Garlic sauce is my go-to. Their best soup is wonton egg drop. It's great. We used to order from here and forgot why we stopped. They refreshed our memory tonight. The first problem was the 30-45 min estimated delivery time turned into over an hour. And I had to call to ask if the food was even coming after 46 minutes. After hearing some yelling in the background, I was told the guy was on his way. After another 15+ minutes, the food arrived. Most appeared in an edible state. The steamed vegetable dumplings, though, were 90% uncooked. They felt slightly warm, like some effort to heat them up had been made. But no way were we eating mostly raw dumpling skin. There are plenty of places in the neighborhood who can deliver cooked food in a timely manner. We'll order from one of them next time. read more

The tofu was flavorful and well cooked, a bit on the chewy side, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The Lo Mein had a nice balance of saltiness and crisp vegetables. I'm writing an update for the japanese food portion in this place, simply put the pricing has become outrageous. Dont even bother ever buying any of the party trays they have simply put the pricing for each tray is actually more expensive then as if you were to buy them separated, they are plainly over prices its value, there is no deal in these party trays so beware. Second, there lunch boxes are ridiculous, for the amount of hardly any crap you are subject to pay a certain amount, "fair enough" now after the lunch special time which is 11 to 3 pm that 8$ bento combo box become 13$ with the same exact amount of food, which i find to be a little distasteful to customers. Another thing I would like to add is the lack of commitment when making sure the food is cook thoroughly. I had order a few thing only to have notice that meat was under cook, what bother me the most is the large amount of food i ordered came to me in under 2 mins of placing the call only to see half ass cook food. If you like being rip off, and pricing not matching there menus and half ass cook food with the lack of knowledge for ingredients and some what stale tasting food that may or may not send you to the hospital for food poisoning then i recommend you go here and take your chances. I for one will no longer be buying there crap any longer. There food is just disgusting, and on a side note, when you see the owner and the cook in back both picking there nose while in the middle of cooking your food i suggest you walk away, "I DID". shen zhou gets 3 stars vs 2 because, as stated in other posts,there is no decent chinese food in bushwick. The food is good enough for delivery on a day where you cant leave the house. Everything I ordered tasted fine enough-no suspect warning signals. But like most places that offer quantity over quality, the ingredients are simply not the freshest. The broccoli is sauteed well, but the spicy garlic sauce its in is meh. Veggie spring rolls were similar to finding a 'great' frozen snack. Dont bother dining in. If you want good chinese food, you must go further west. That said, I would order again for deiivery only. Getting Miso soup and warming food your house when you feel like crap merits a semi favorable review. read more

There seems to be some hyper-inflation of east williamsburg/buswick restaurant ratings. Haha I think the late night stoners are skewing the reviews to be more positive. Ordered multiple items all of which were pretty shitty. The orange chicken was terrible, I ate on two pieces threw out the rest. The beef was gummy. The vegetables were edible but also of poor quality. If you have to get anything go for the low mein or something along those lines-that stuff is delicious even if the ingredients are a little gross. On the plus side, you can order a "small" version of most things which is awesome. Someone on yelp compared it to bad mall chinese food, I would say that's a good characterization. I ordered through Seamless and due to me being a dumb*ss, I confused them as to whether we wanted the food delivered or picked up. In the end, when they realized we wanted it delivered, they brought it in a matter of minutes (we do live very nearby, to be fair) and the food was fresh and still hot. They were so friendly about it, that alone would earn 5 stars from me. But the food is also great. For cheap Chinese food, it's the best I've had in Bushwick. We've ordered the General Tso's Tofu from them twice and it's some of the best I've ever had. It's hard to get that perfect balance of crispy outside and smooth but not TOO smooth inside, and they have it down. Vegetable Lo Mein, cheese wontons, Sesame Chicken are all great too. I've only ever ordered from the Chinese menu. Delivery took 40 minutes but they did say 45-60 minutes. I ordered chicken wings with pork fried rice which was pretty consistent with all takeout Chinese restaurants. The fried rice is a little bland but they have plenty of sauce packets. I also got a chicken corn soup. This was okay. The corn is really sweet and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Overall it's your basic fast food spot. read more

I took a chance and tried this place. My low expectations were exceeded. I got the vegetable chow mein and the shrimp in curry sauce. My girlfriend got the general tsos tofu. The tofu was the best. Spicy and good texture. I really liked my curry shrimp too. The chow mein was the worst but there was nothing wrong with it. Just boring. For 3.25 I would get it again though. The portion was enough for a meal. That could be said for the other two items we ordered too (pint). But it didn't stop me from eating two portions. I had a lot of wine to drink. So I called, complained and i was given a brand new set, delivered just for me, but sadly it was still bad although not as bad as the first one.
