Update: I wanted to come back and update my experience with Eye Optics after picking up my glasses. After wearing them for a bit, something felt off, and I'm glad I trusted that feeling because I ended up going back in. They took the time to recheck everything and offered me another exam, which I really appreciated. It turns out the issue wasn't my prescription changing, but that the original lenses weren't aligned correctly to my pupil placement. Basically, the measurement itself was right, but it hadn't been marked properly on the lenses, which caused a prism effect in one eye. The staff was extremely kind throughout the whole process and explained everything in a way that made sense. Once they identified the issue, they immediately offered to redo the lenses. Now I'm waiting on the new pair again, and hoping this resolves everything, but I really appreciated that they took the concern seriously and worked to fix it. Helpful tip: If something feels off with new lenses, trust your instincts and go back. It's worth having them double check the alignment. read more

This place used to be good and all my family are patient here. However, this is changing. First the good male doctor Ly left I think 2 years ago and the other doctor is ok in my opinion I have seen the other 3 doctors here. The glasses and frames are so overcharging, more than a half, you can check online. I was late for my appointment exactly 10 minutes. They said they have 10 minutes grace period at the front desk but still ask me to reschedule. I drove all the way from Roseville hospital and ran into traffic but show up and inside of their "grace period " the doctor won't see me. I think they are too busy to care their patients. I used this location for the first time. My son went in to order his glasses; they told him it was needed what they sold him. When I went in to ask about it they got mad because I told them that is not the lens we get for him and we cancelled the order and ordered the correct lens that works best for him. I got nothing but attitude from the supervisor Jessica. They had to provide a refund of over $200 and my son paid half cash & half card. and now he has to wait about 3 weeks to get his money back. I will never go back and I will continue to go to my original spot Eye design off Arden mall. The best by far. read more

They don't even have updated enough exam equipment or even any equipment that can do anything diagnostic with binocular vision disorders. The doctor at EyeOptics in Elk Grove (8246 Laguna Blvd) very kindly saw me the same day, as my usual hospital Ophthalmology nurse said that given my symptoms I need to be seen immediately and they couldn't fit me in. The optometrist at EyeOptics was absolutely lovely, and seems super competent. And they even take my insurance. And the doctor gave me her note and also faxed it to my regular doctor. Everyone there seems caring and cheery, unlike at my usual hospital full of miserable people who just want to get rid of you. It was an excellent experience and I'd recommend EyeOptics Optometry Center to anyone! A year or two ago my husband also had a great experience there, and is very happy with his special glasses. read more

I had an appointment today at 2:45 and showed up on time only to be told that the doctor called out sick and my appointment was cancelled. The receptionist told me that they called earlier in the day to advise me. When I explained I had no missed calls or messages, she responded unapologetically that they called whatever number was "on record". That happened to be my home number on a work day. She proceeded to tell me they had no appointments available but she could try to find another time for me. It took me a month to get this appointment! Needless to say I walked out, without scheduling another appointment. Missed opportunity for my business and I'll be sure to do everything possible to discourage anyone else from doing business with them. read more

My family and I saw Dr. Christy Curtis for many years while we were living in Elk Grove. She was amazing! We moved from EG to Sacramento about 7 years ago and switched to new doctor closer to our new home. I recently called EyeOptics to switch back to her and discovered she had opened a new practice in Folsom. I had my first appt with her yesterday and am SO HAPPY to see her again. She does a fantastic job getting my prescriptions just right! I will continue to see her. She is worth the drive!! She gets an A++. read more

The staff the answers the phone are absolutely rude and unprofessional, they don't help patients. They don't give you the information verbally or maybe a reminder but everything is written in the paperwork we sign when we make appointments. What kind of customer service is this. Everyone should know if you have any sudden vision changes due to any type of health change (cancer, surgery) they will not care to tell you that you need to pay out of pocket for an eye exam after 6 months from your original eye exam/ prescription. I was rudely talked to as if I was a child over the phone and was told I should have read the paperwork they gave me for their policies, I literally called them 3 weeks before my 6 month (unknown) expiration and they made me an appointment 4 days after it expired, they cancel my appointment because my contacts never arrived and I wanted to see a doctor to talk about my sudden vision changes and found out that they will charge me because a 4 days after expiration......wow they won't help you.... There are a lot of other places that really want to help people not take their money, I don't mind paying but is the principle of being kind and service people the right way... read more

Dr. Wong, Juan, and another person (female) who assisted with my exam were extremely nice, professional and helpful. I was referred by the VA and I'm glad this was the place they selected for me. The environment was clean and the vibes were great. They have a-lot of selection for prescription glasses/sunglasses, from name brands like Gucci/Burberry/Ray Bans to other regular brand products. I went here on a Friday for the exam and purchased my glasses, I was expecting my glasses to arrive by 2-3 weeks but it got here on Monday. Literally 0 business days; I am super impressed! Have been going to this location since 2012. Was great. Now ownership has changed it looks like. Service has been awfully bad. Took me three days to get hold of someone to schedule an appointment. Went on time but the receptionist guided me to the waiting area and never checked me in. Ten minutes later, a lady walked in with her two kids and got helped right away. I walked to the technicians station, at that time I was asked if I was there for an appointment. I got helped once the two kids and their mom were done. About 45 minutes after my scheduled time. I then ordered my pair of glasses. The optician did not give me a copy of my prescription. When I picked my glasses, the receptionist gave them to me at the intrance. Used to have me seated with the optician to try them on. The prescription used to be given in a small card. I asked the receptionist for a copy of my prescription, she refused. Now I need to get a second pair of glasses with the same prescription, I called the practice several times and sent messages. No answer and no prescription emailed or texted. No words to say! Dr. Curtis has been our eye doctor since 2019, when she practiced in Elk Grove, CA. She has treated my four children, my wife, and me. Dr. Curtis is very kind, friendly, and polite, and she takes the time to explain everything in detail. She has made excellent recommendations to help us keep our eyes healthy. We are willing to drive 40 minutes to Folsom to continue seeing her because we are very happy with her service! We hope she accepts my insurance and will remain our eye doctor for years to come! read more

The eye care clinic in question is not only overpriced but also suffers from POOR customer service. Although they advertise a closing time of 5 PM, arriving before that time does not guarantee service, as staff will refuse to entertain you after 4:30 PM. This practice is misleading and frustrating for clients who arrive on time. Management should address these issues, as the current approach drives customers away. It's unreasonable to close the door at 5 PM while denying service to those who arrive just before. You may close your door at 5pm and not accept incoming but dont decline people who got there before closing time for a service that doesnt even take 15 min to complete! read more

There are two Optometrists, one speaks Cantonese and Mandarin! We had the doctor that spoke English and Cantonese, she was friendly and nice. It's so difficult to find doctors that can speak those languages here! So that's a good find for me. Unfortunately, we didn't encounter any of the other employees that spoke Cantonese or Mandarin though. Big, modern and welcoming atmosphere. A small kids room with a tv. It's different than the typical small family owned optic place. It's segregated into different areas - exams and purchasing. We did have to wait for the doctor to finish another patient in between the dilation wait time. So expect an eye exam to be 1+ hour. There are a lot of frame options but mainly brand names which are pricy The technicians were friendly. The employees in the frames section doesn't seem to help you choose frames like other places I've been to. Overall, a lot of people were there for exams, and services wasn't bad. Store is in the same plaza as Fleetfeet, Leatherby's, and Bonchon. read more

I've been going here since I was in high school, but through their original location in the Laguna Shopping center over by Target, Chevy's and where Borders used to be. While having gone to this particular location twice now. I came in this last time for a routine eye exam which I've gone without for about 3-4 years now, and to update my current eye glasses prescription. All of my information from my previous visit was still on file, but because it's been a while I had to update some of the standard paperwork. So after making my appointment the day before my eye exam, after signing in I filled out that paperwork for a few minutes. And then a eye care specialist came out and got me. She sat me down and had to do the eye pressure test first and then the peripheral view test, and when I was done I filled out the rest of my paperwork. While I was for the Optometrist to see me and to do my actual eye exam. Once in the back I went though the routine exam, I read the lines...or tried to as I new my prescription was weaker than it should be. I did a series of tests for each eye to get my prescription to where it needed to be, and I could see perfectly again! The Optometrist was also very friendly and we made small talk and by the end of the exam were talking about new flat screen TV's, the one I'd purchased and if it had this or that features, and that TV he was looking to by. After the initial exam from the Optometrist I went back out in the waiting room and had my eyes dilated, since I hadn't opted for the eye pictures. I finished my paperwork as my eyes dilated, and after about 10-15 minutes of waiting I was called back in for my final eye test. Where the Optometrist checked for any tears in my retina, and I was given a bill of good eye health. Then I was off to the eye glasses area to pick out my new set of glasses. Since I opted this time to have the prescription in my current glasses filled, while getting a new 2nd pair as my everyday pair. I picked out a new set similar to the style of my current glasses, and then went through the upgrade features that I wanted or didn't want on my new lenses. OVERALL: Great location, great and friendly staff in the both the eye exam area. As well as in the glasses and contact lens location. It was a really good experience overall. read more

Let me preface this review by saying it may just be that I'm not used to this type of optometry practice; I've always gone to a family operated practice since I've needed glasses from the time I was in preschool. However, I waited too long to book my yearly appointment with my regular optometrist, and my friend recommended going to EyeOptics. Unfortunately, I took the advice and booked an appointment here. I thought it was odd they had so much availability at the end of the calendar year, and when I arrived, I saw the reason why. I instantaneously had the thought that this place looked like a factory for eye examinations when I walked through the doors. The receptionist area is three feet in front of the entrance. To the left of the entrance, there's an open area with about four tables centered in the room, and surrounding the windows there are display cases, of which, only about a third had glasses inside. There were a large quantity of employees working there. Everything about EyeOptics felt very impersonal, kind of like being in a hospital. The optometrist who did my exam was nice enough, but I felt I was on a limited, strict time schedule and that they wanted me in and out as soon as possible. After the exam, they told me someone would be with me when they were done with other people. I was then left to wander around aimlessly. In addition, there are no mirrors near the displays of glasses. That was mindboggling to me. When I asked about price ranges, I was told all glasses carried here are $200+, and it was a truly limited selection that they had during my visit. I ended up deciding to look for frames elsewhere. There's a lot of tension between staff and the doctors and if you go in for a routine eye exam and don't want to buy glasses, the sales folks will noticeably be irritable and the customer service is switched off. Zero communication between receptionists and the sales folks, I was almost charged twice until I showed my receipt. The one star is for the tech who dilated my eyes, he was funny and professional. This place will tell you its okay to come in for a contact fitting at any time, and when you come in after getting the text that your contacts are in, the receptionist will try to schedule you TWO WEEKS OUT for a 20 min consultation! I do not go here anymore. Unfortunately, the year after my initial review my experience was not the best. My husband was not properly assisted when he was selecting frames. We carry VSP because I work for the company, therefore the brand Ray-Ban is not covered. When my husband was taken out to the showroom he immediately started browsing at Ray-Ban because he loves the brand. The lady assisting him said "oh no you cannot browse Ray-Ban because your insurance will not cover and you cannot afford it". Once i came out of my exam room and my husband told me about the interaction I decided we would not be coming back. Both my husband and I walked out, I requested my Rx and we bought glasses elsewhere. I am giving it two starts because the doctors are thorough with their eye exams and the staff in the back has always been super friendly. read more

I don't know what's up with the customer service here but they were so rude to me, it may be because I'm not Caucasian. My questions would always be answered with a very sarcastic and demeaning tone, no matter how polite I was. When picking up my glasses, the lady didn't even say anything, she just handed my glasses to me and I put them on. She just looked at me and I had to be the one to ask for her to adjust it. She also didn't ask me how much to adjust it. When I put them on they felt okay, but as the day went by I noticed they were too tight on the right arm so it's just my right ear that was hurting. I have called multiple times to talk about Benefit and coverage for my eyewear purchase and it always says to leave a message and that they will call back. It's been a couple of week and I am still waiting for a callback. Never had any issues in the last 8-9 years that I have been shopping here. I understand with the COVID I can expect a slight delay but over two week and multiple phone message I think I might have to find a new eye glass center. read more

I think this is a well kept place. Well maintained, clean and comfortable. When you come into the center, you are greeted by the workers behind the counter desk. The waiting room is filled with magazines, comfortable chairs and nice decor. They have a show room of a variety of eye glass frames of all kinds from designers and unknowns. You may help yourself with some coffee or filtered water. They seem to work pretty fast in the examination room and they are pretty organized when ready to give you the bill or working on with your insurance company. I really like it here. They are also ridiculously expensive. They pull you in bc they take your insurance but fail to tell you out the door will cost you average $400-$500 for a pair of glasses after you add all the bells and whistles. I was really caught off guard by how some of the receptionists talk to each other. It is a very unprofessional atmosphere and I feel really bad for the new girl they were talking so rude to her in front of customers. I mean sheesh, if that's how you train your people by demeaning behavior?? I mean your HR is obviously not doing their job. I am a business owner and I would never allow this unprofessional behavior in the office let alone in front of customers. It's been several years since I've come here, it's still an expensive place. I know Optometrists make $ more from frames and lenses than from their services. But this place is getting more and more expensive! They remain fancy schmancy with their Keuric machine out front and everything, but remember YOU are paying for all the bells and whistles and decor and spa experience you see. This also applies to dental offices, ha! We had prescriptions for Kaiser already. They accepted it and looked up my hubby's insurance with VSP. It was just my hubby getting glasses this time. The least expensive frames they had were $120 each, yowsa! Ok, I get that nice frames are nice. I wear contacts 90% of the time and yet I have 2 pairs of Coach glasses and I do like them (even though they don't even leave my house!), but we were trying to spend less out of pocket especially with my kids always pulling my hubby's glasses off his face. So we were like, "$120?!" and we flew out of there like it was a hornet's nest. read more

The Hatch Act of 2019 allows veterans who need to see a provider to be seen somewhere else if it'll be more than 30 days to get an appointment with the VA footing the bill. The VA paid for me to be seen at Eye Optics. I had an authorization letter from the VA. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment. Upon entry, I gave them the authorization letter. They continued to make me wait well past my appointment time. They kept saying that they needed to verify the letter. After they made a copy, they kept me waiting for another 15 minutes and then they asked for the letter again so they could make another copy. It was ridiculous. The optometrist was really nice. However, the prices for new glasses were outrageous, even with my 30% discount. I called the VA the next day and told them that they should remove Eye Optics from their list of providers. read more

Came here today with my hsuband and had the strangest vibe/experience. We were shopping for Cazal glasses There was a lady sitting across the room from where the frames were kept, she was facing down but cutting her eyes up at us as if she was watching us to make sure we didn't take anything. I thought maybe I was overthinking and didnt say anythingto my husband. Another lady came in to ask us if we we were going through our insurance, she responded by saying "oh" we asked her what she meant and she said that our coverage was not good, doesn't cover much. I let her know that we were aware of that because we have been paying out of pocket mostly. She did not offer us to try on the glasses and instead says, she was locking up the frames. It was the most awkward experience. Seems as though they thought maybe we couldn't afford to be there and they didn't want to help. Stay far away from this place! Jane the optical tech is rude and yelled at me on the phone. I called asking to see if my glasses were ready as they never notify you when they are ready. I was suppose to get a return phone call but instead I get a text saying they are ready. I called back and Jane raised her voice and continued to speak over me. When I called to speak to a manager, Zack, got on the phone and made excuses for her stating that he overhead her speaking with me but didn't hear her being rude or raising her voice. Zack also said it's a busy time of year and they have to get old purchases out first. But when you pay for new glasses you are told they would be ready within the next two weeks. Funny thing, my staff was on my work cell and overheard the entire thing and was shocked that the lady was speaking to me like that. She then said "oh try my place Eye Optics. I never have problems with them". I told her that's who I was speaking with. To have a provider who you pay services for speak to you this way and they do not feel they were wrong after you spend a lot of money there... will never allow it. Just do yourself a favor and go far away because they do not value you they just want your money! Update: got a message on here from Zac and said "because of the way you feel you were treated". They scheduled me at 4:40. I allowed 17 extra minutes on a 14-minute drive. There were two accidents on the freeway and once I knew I would be late, I called and texted (my partner was driving me in anticipation of dilation). I was exactly ten minutes late. The receptionist had to check with the doctor whether they could see me because "doctors leave at 5:00". I was then told they would see me but "not do dilation or anything". When I objected that I need a full eye exam, including dilation, they said there was another test they could do for an additional charge instead but that dilation takes half an hour. I pointed out that 4:40 is not half an hour before 5:00 and they said yeah, but the doctor only has to stay 10 minutes late not 20. I don't know how they justify this policy to themselves, but I will not be getting my healthcare from a doctor who is more focused on leaving than on making sure patients receive appropriate care. read more

Love the Optometrists! Front staff was exceptional couple years before but not so much now. I have to call back for questions due to the receptionists having to ask someone and take a message even for very generic questions. Regardless if they say I'll get a call back, I never do anyway. The only reason I go back is for outstanding Optometrists! Eye doctors are very up to date with today's eye medicine and technology. As for the frames... A little overly priced for the not so name brands. Sales folks are not very friendly seems like it's forced in my opinion. Avoid the receptionists as much as possible. I don't know why they act this way but I've been coming here for years and their customer service has gone downhill recently. Today I observed them being rude to so many customers in line. They always say stuff like "this is our policy," and when the customer asks then they reply "we don't repeat our policy to every customer". Then how is the customer supposed to know it??? The actual opticians and doctors are awesome! They do a good job. They recently changed their hours too and it's shorter. This means that you are gotta come here early right after work if you need any help. Maybe this is why the front desk staff are so stressed? I consider this place to be one step above going to Costco or Walmart. However, their customer service is making it harder to see the difference between them and the other places. read more
