Did a walk in last Friday and a kid looks like in 15's I( heard them calling him angel) came to cut my hair and he don't speak English and don't know how to use scissors. No hate for the kid but Was taking forever and wasn't cutting how I wanted seems like don't know what he was doing so I literally had to call someone else and lady finish me up poor cut as I was running late for my daughters birth.i didn't even wanna pay for it but I did. I've been going to Vanny's for several years. I have no reason to go anywhere else. I live in Napa, this business is in Vallejo. The price for a fade or regular haircut for men is now around 20$. The Quality of haircut I get each time is consistent (mid-fade with triple zero and enough on top to put my hair back). I request Yadira first, if she isn't available i go with Christine, if neither of them are available i go with Karen. Thats my personal order, but each one of these lovely ladies will cut my hair the way i want it done, and i have yet to be disappointed with their work. The vibe inside while waiting, is quite relaxing, they usually got some cool lil jams going on, and sometimes las noticias. It can be very busy at times, and unless you made an appointment on one of those busy days, and you are willing to wait, the front waiting area can get crowded, so i usually opt for the back room waiting area on a nice leather couch away from everyone else. They have Barbers now too. I just get my fade and dip out, (cuz i hook my facial hair up by myself) but thats available with a straight razor for the low if u need that. Cant really speak on the quality, but i think they would be good considering this business's consistency throughout the years. please, go elsewhere. This experience has traumatized me. I have been going to Vannys Hair Salon for 4 years now and I had only trusted Maria with my hair. I never let any other hair dresser touch my hair as she would always leave me happy. I suffer with severe anexiety and depression. For these past couple of months I have been feeling very self concious wity my apperance and wanted to refresh my hair. I saved up money specifically for this as altering my hair makes me feel better about myself. On 12/13/22 I made an appointment to redo my highlights due to my roots growing out. I waited over an hour for my hair dresser Maria to arrive at her beauty salon. Once she arrived i sat in her chair and asked how much she would charge me, she told me it would be $160-$180 to retouch the highlights. I gasped but she assured me it was due to materials being more expensive. I value maria's time, labor and the materials she uses so I agreed. it took 6 hours to redo my highlights. once she had washed and dried my hair, she sat me in the chair to dry my hair and i instantly knew something was wrong. Once she finished drying my hair i couldnt keep my emotions in and began crying in her seat. I was speachless. She bleached all of my roots and only roots. I told her that this looked nothing like how she first made my highlights months ago and she said that due to it being dark outside it made my hair look extra blonde. I showed her pictures of my hair when she first did it and then blamed me for not explaining myself enough to her (the highlights were grown out, all she had to do was connect them to the root) I instantly felt disguested of my appearance and it broke my heart. tears couldnt stop falling down my face. Maria then made me feel ashamed as she said "no se porque estas llorando, ni que hice un mal trabajo" (idk why youre crying as if i did a bad job). This made the whole salon stare at me crying. Maria proceded to overcharge me. instead of the $160-180 price, she ended up charging me $206 (i assume because she thought i wasnt going to tip) but i still gave her a $20 tip anyways because of the time it took her. I understand its a tricky job to do. Maria also told me" te lo puedo arreglar perso sera un costo mas" so that id have to pay another service to get it fixed. I couldnt bear to seemyself this way. i immedietly went home, put a beanie on my head and couldnt stop crying. I then went to CVS, got a brown box hair dye and dyed my whole hair brown just 2 hours after getting it ruined at Vannys Hair Salon. Please stay away. Customer service is not good and there are plenty other hair dressers who deserve to be recognized for their work. read more

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING HERE! Went in for highlights which I was quoted 200 dollars left at 450 dollars and pretty upset. As I approached the register to pay the owner told the girl who did my hair to raise the price because she did a certain kind of highlight to my hair she spoke in Spanish thinking I didn't understand when I'm reality Spanish is my first language. I was never told that this was being done to my hair only that I was doing highlights and that it was going to be 240 dollars. 2 days later my hair looked like a bale of hay. I tried to call to explain my situation but they refused to help or even reimburse anything. These people are unprofessional. Great first experience! My son is almost 3 and has been getting his hair cut since he was 9 months old. You'd expect for him to be use to it by now but just like any toddler he eventually gets fed up and impatient. Thankfully, Karen was very very patient with him! ZERO STARS DO NOT COME HERE I scheduled an appointment for may 26th at 10:00 am with marisol. I think that's her name I threw away her business card I was so upset ( girl with the grey ombre). When I scheduled that appointment I specifically said I need my hair styled for my COLLEGE graduation, really important day for me. She assured me that she would be done in an hour so I could leave in time for my graduation. I arrive a little early at 9:45 and the place is locked and closed. Then 10 am rolls around and still no one has come. 10:15 and 10:30 and no one in sight. I was assured that she would be here at 10 when they "OPEN." I had to go home and quickly straighten my hair. This review is long overdue! I've had medium to long hair all my life. 5 months prior to my visit at Vannys, my hair was uneven and had been fixed by another stylist who I only trust with my hair. She wasn't in the Bay Area for awhile so I decided to try Vanny's out because my friend recommended it to me. This was around January 2016. My hair was cut to medium length already (getting rid of dead hair) and was HEALTHY. Mind you, my hair was strong when I visited. I asked for my hair to be gray and Cristine (the stylist who did my hair there) and Maria was talking about how to accomplish that. After TWO tries to make it gray, it still failed and ended up looking GREEN and only showed on the bottom! They did not consult me that my hair must be very light blonde or platinum to accomplish the gray before they did my hair-- which was a low ombre. My friend also came in the same day and while I was waiting for my hair color to be washed off, and he was getting his haircut by Cristine. At the end of his haircut, he told me he was unhappy with it because it was uneven. My cousin had already paid for my hair in advance and I was not happy as well. I tried to talk it out with the owner for my money back but instead, she was kind enough to have me come in the next morning to fix it. The next day was what upset me the most!!! I decided instead of doing gray, I would do low lights/sheer high lights. I was put with Cristine again and also showed several photos of how I wanted my hair to be. Instead of trying to copy the picture, it was as if she slapped a lot of bleach on my hair to make it all blonde! I only wanted some blonde on the bottom of my hair and yet It looked like a bad high-balayage!! My hair had a straight line of blonde, unblended and had dark tips. My hair was basically dark to blonde to dark again on the tips. She left me in the blow dryer with foils in my hair for about 30 minutes or more. And let me tell you, she had the dryer very close to my head.. so the heat of the foils were probably REALLY hot and bleaching fast. She left me in there while she did another customer's hair cut. It felt like forever and she only checked on me once. You're supposed to be constantly checking your customers hair to avoid damage! After the hair wash, she attempted blow drying, but she couldn't finish drying it due to how damaged my hair was. It was like my hair had no elasticity anymore! She brushed my hair and I saw my hair FALLING OUT and it was as if she was trying to hide it. And I had to pay an additional $20? I was deeply unhappy, I almost cried. Especially since the day before, my cousin payed nearly $90 already for me. Vanny was kind enough to give me a free brow wax and offer a hair treatment spray for $10 to help save my hair. But this does not make up the fact that my senior year, I had uneven, blonde, short hair and that every time I showered, my hair still FALLS OFF and is very fragile! The year of Prom and major events and my hair looks like thin clear noodles. I got so scared to brush my hair sometimes because of how much falls off and how stretchy it was, I felt as though my hair got thinner. Now that it's been 6 months since then, my hair grew out enough for me to cut off the blonde. My hair is now recently very short since the dead blonde hair was up to my neck, but very very VERY healthy compared to my visit at Vanny's. Thanks to my trusted hair stylist in whom I'll only be trusting my hair and money with from now on. I would not recommend entrusting your hair with Cristine, but I would definitely trust Vanny with your eyebrows. Nonetheless, I'll never be visiting this place again and will be taking my money elsewhere. read more

I have been coming here to cut my hair since I was 18 years old. I am 24 now, and every single time I have come here I have had faith that the same issue does not repeat itself again.... But it always does. After almost six years of the same issue, I believe my complaint is very well justified. I always have the habit of coming in a few minutes after opening time because I just want to get in and get out and avoid the large crowds. The sign clearly states that the place opens at 11:00am. And each and every single time I come in to cut my hair, I end up waiting 15 to 30 minutes (Today I waiting for 10 minutes, and just could not wait, it was time I said something). And if this place is EVER open at 11:00am, it takes them 15 to 30 minutes to cut my hair (like last time I was there) because supposedly "the gal that's cutting hair during morning shift is late today, I apologize"... It seems like she is always late, or somebody is. These gals give some of the fastest and best haircuts in Vallejo, but their irresponsibility and work ethic clearly shows. Last year, on the day of my sister's wedding, my sister came in with an appointment at 10:00am (THE DAY OF HER WEDDING) and the gal that was supposed to do her hair showed up at 11:00. My sister had a bad emotional breakdown later that day because she was late to her own wedding because of how much time it took for her hair to be ready. Another time, one of the gals was cutting my hair (I believe it was the owner herself), and a customer walked in complaining about her hair having been done differently than she asked for a previous day. Note that this is not to bash the haircut quality of this place, as I am sure this happens in all hair saloons. However, the lady that was cutting my hair stopped working on my hair and completely focused her attention on the customer that interrupted MY service for about 10 minutes. Until I had to say something; "You should tell that customer to wait until you are done with your current customer, or tell her that you will gladly help as soon as you can, because this is not good customer service" and even though the lady was nice and gentle about it, she did not want to accept it and tried to say "But she is also my customer"... Until she did say "I apologize, and I will make sure I handle this differently next time". That was a huge plus for her, but anyone in their right mind reading this should understand what the point of this complaint-review is! A message to these ladies and owner: Gals, please understand that you need to stop doing these things to your customers. We Latinos are generally hard-working, but we are known to always be late and our business-ethic is generally rocky. Don't help by making that reputation solidify even more. Please be responsible or just say you will be opening at 11:30. Remember, it is because of the CUSTOMERS that you guys have this business. I hope you take this into consideration and change your business habits. Do it for the customer. Put yourselves in their shoes. Would you like the same to happen to you? Please don't just oversee this, as we Latinos typically think "Meh, whatever!" when we are witnesses of issues like this. Think about it please. read more

The place was clean & new. They had appropriate prices. & Since I had a appt, there was no wait. With all that said, my hair did not turn out the way I expected. Like I said, I wanted a bayalage/ombré and showed her the picture. It was not blended well. There are clear lines between my dark hair and the ombré. My mother and I scheduled a hair appointment with Maria the owner for Saturday April 8th for my niece wedding and my parents 51 marriage anniversary. So I decided to go in for a hair cut and Maria did a wonderful job. This was my second time getting my hair cut there by Maria. My wife use to cut my hair for the pass 20 year because I could not find any one that would cut it the way I like it. Might be funny but my hair needs to be cut a certain way or it will get cow licks and goes crazy. But from the first cut Maria gave me, my hair looked amazing and NO COW LICKS! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL 0 STARS I am posting on behalf of my younger sister who showed the OWNER exactly what she wanted. I have attached pictures of what she requested and the outcome. Color done by the owner Maria. Sadly my sister ended up with 5 different colors in her hair not in a good way. So I go back to the owner show her a picture of my sisters hair. She got shocked when she saw the picture and denied it was her work. When my sister shows up the story and excuses changed. She stated "I do not perform miracles on hair" "I did not guarantee her that outcome". So my question to her was why did you not advice her that you could not give her the outcome she wanted? She blamed my sister, her hair color, and hair texture for the outcome and she did not take responsibility for the horrible work that she did. I ask her for a refund, its only fair since she has to go get this fixed by a true professional. She stated that her hair was not falling out therefore there was no reason to give her a refund. Horrible work, damaged hair, horrible customer service. The owner tells me she has 35 years of experience and takes classes to stay up to date. COULD OF FOOLED ME. She did not offer any options to solve this matter. So in total my sister spent $160 for a horrible hair color sat at the salon from 11am until 830pm, in which the owner was also late to get to the salon, seems like other reviews had the same issue. An experienced hair stylist would of handled this situation more professionally, better yet an experienced hair stylist KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING. Unfortunately I did not check Yelp reviews before my sister went to the salon because if I had done so I would have noticed that Maria obviously does not have the best reviews on here, and could have avoided this problem. read more
