They made us sign a Change Order to cover work that was already supposed to be covered (Replacing Subfloor) Then charged us $160 each for four sheets of floor underlayment. (Less than $50 sheet at Lowes) Water overflowed and damaged kitchen ceiling (another sub to fix) Installed Medicine cabinet that would not open due to hitting sink faucet. Construction debris sat in driveway for 3 weeks. Dismal Project Management, awful communication, HIGH Price. Dont use Fletcher !

He brought along a smaller version of the awning and showed us the components and how it worked. He made the process of deciding on colors, styles, etc. very easy and left us with an estimate and no pressure to commit right away (which I appreciate). After a bit of negotiation we agreed on a price which we believe was quite reasonable, especially given the awning we bought is a higher quality one (there were many other options, some lower cost). This was during their busy season so we were told it would be a few weeks until they could get it installed for us, and they did get it installed in that timeframe. The awning looks great and has held up well. As an additional note, we recently noticed the awning was making some noise on windy days even while retracted, so we called Brian. We told him it was not an emergency, but he literally got to our house in 15 minutes and performed the necessary adjustment within 10 minutes. So I can certainly attest to the responsiveness of this company for service calls! We're very happy with our awning and the customer service provided by Montgomery Shade and Awning, and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Overall the replacement awning looks fine, there are a few wrinkles that I hope will disappear once it has gotten wet and dried a few times but overall it is fine. They delivered a decent product at a decent price. Communications and timelines were not great. I can understand COVID causing delays in production, materials, etc - but COVID didn't break phones or email. I was never too worried about delivery timelines as I wasn't in a rush but for context, when I signed the contract is said 6-8 weeks delivery and it was 18 weeks from the time my check was cashed until they installed the awning. Again, COVID - I get it and am not worried about that. But after checking in with them and finding out my awning was in and install just needed to be scheduled, they went radio silent on me for almost a month despite the fact that I sent multiple emails and left multiple voicemails over a several week period. I was to the point where I figured that I had been ripped off and was starting to look for a new awning company when they finally reappeared and schedule the install. Bottom line - fair price, decent product, horrible communications.

However today, a year later from starting, my deck remains unfinished and only passed inspection after we personally went through the process with the county. From the first "final delivery" of the deck to me is where I started seeing issues. Huge gaps in the Trex were made at each post that collect water, incorrect pieces of Trex were used on the railings, Trex were cut inappropriately in the middle of the flooring, and none of the footers of the original deck were removed. Cleanup was terrible, large cuts were made in railings that needed to be rectified, the edges of the deck were left unfinished, and the overall workmanship was very poor. Over time, HaiJoe "fixed" a few of the issues, while many of them remain "as is" as they would otherwise require a complete rebuild to be resolved. Many of the "fixes" actually caused additional sets of issues, and the owner still sent the same Foreman! Elder Ramos, the owner was hard to get a hold of, then hostile on the phone, and altogether unresponsive. Elder accused us of lying, raised his voice, and hung up on us over the phone. He lied that our deck passed its final inspection, which it did not until months later when we took care of it ourselves. I am so disappointed with the deck that I have been left with. Every day I use it; I see the poor workmanship that was put into it. Do not use this company unless you want a terrible product and bad customer service.

I appreciated their attention to detail and their craftsmanship. Also, Jeremiah patiently answered all my questions throughout the entire process -- from the free estimate at our house through the completion of both projects. He also made several excellent recommendations regarding color, stain, layout, design and so forth. The new concrete walkway and stoop/threshold (with matching pavers) took years off the appearance of our house, which was built in 1969. The back patio also looks fantastic! They removed the original 4 concrete slabs, as well as some pavers that we had installed ourselves as a temporary fix several years ago. All of that was replaced by stamped concrete that was antiqued and sealed. One of our friends commented that the patio now resembles a European old world square. In addition, the project significantly increased the usable outdoor living space. We have received numerous compliments on both masonry projects from friends and neighbors. I would give Jeremiah and his crew 5 stars for the finished projects. I highly recommend their work! In fact, I would have given a 5 star review OVERALL but there were a couple issues that precluded me from doing so. First, I was told that the work at our house would begin between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. but no one showed up until approximately 3:30 p.m. [They had been at another site working on a concrete project that had been delayed due to rain earlier that week]. I understand scheduling conflicts can happen, especially with businesses that are at the mercy of Mother Nature. However, I would have appreciated a simple phone call to keep me in the loop. Throughout the morning and early afternoon I left voice messages with the contractor and Masonry Specialist, LLC. I sent a couple emails to the company. I even posted a message on Masonry Specialist's Facebook page. It was only through Facebook that I received a response. The second -- and main reason -- I gave 4 stars instead of 5 has to do with the way the final payment process was handled. Our two projects combined were not inexpensive. Therefore, I wanted to take advantage of my credit card companies' rewards programs. I emailed Masonry Specialist and asked if I could put half the project cost on one card (to get air miles) and half on another card (to get points). Brandy at Masonry Specialist responded via email, "We can certainly accept credit cards, however, they charge us a 3.5% fee -- with two transactions, they would charge us 2x -- we prefer cash or check due to this." I suggested a compromise. I said I could send a check that day for half the payment and then immediately call her with a credit card number to pay the remaining amount. Brandy responded that she would be happy to accommodate. HOWEVER, she would pass on the 3.5% credit card fee to me. What?!? Since I wasn't thrilled with the idea of having to pay more than we both had originally agreed to, I wrote a personal check for the entire amount and mailed it to the company. Masonry projects can be costly. I doubt that all families have large sums of cash at their disposal. I would hope that Masonry Specialist, LLC would reconsider its policy of charging customers a fee for the convenience of using credit cards. That would be a 5-star idea.
