You are an account number at this credit union. Humanity, compassion, and customer courtesy are not apart of Vantage Credit Union. DO AVOID THIS CREDIT UNION AT ALL COSTS!
Their business model is completely unfair to you as an account number, because you're not a person here. Vantage Credit Union (VCU) charges $35 courtesy pay overdraft fees up to 3 even 4 days after an online transaction. There was a mistake made by an eBay seller I purchased an item through charging me early and with an old VCU card that was replaced by the "Chip" card with a completely new debit card number, but the transaction mistakenly still went through charging me a $35 overdraft fee.
This simple eBay Christmas item cost $8.16, so the seller isn't going to pay for my overdraft fee for their mistake. The online user on eBay charged me too early on my Paypal for the invoice and on the wrong card on December 7th. Additionally this was disputed with eBay however, they referred me to dispute it with the seller and my bank, which is Vantage Credit Union.
I have never been to a bank or Credit Union where overdraft charges that were not a mistake by the me the human customer were at least considered to be removed as a courtesy. When I went to call them on December 18th stating the correct invoice transaction date was paid last night with the eBay seller was less than courteous. I spoke to 3 people after waiting on hold for several minutes. Their response when I went to simply ask for the $35 Courtesy fee to be removed for this December 7th transaction was, "Well back in May for a completely separate transaction from this one you're calling about... we reversed a courtesy pay fee 8 times for your wife Tiffany, so we cannot do that for you on this joint account for you today because we did this for your wife in the past." I first spoke to Paris, a representative in the St. Louis contact center, who told me this and had me on hold two times for over five minutes each time. Next I spoke to Milia, a Representative in the St. Louis contact center, and she regurgitated the same thing Milia said, referring to this as an "account mistake" not me as a customer and human being. Stating I should contact the eBay seller to ask to have them pay for the $35 overdraft fee which is 3 times more than the item I bought. She refused to remove the $35 overdraft fee even though she acknowledged it wasn't me who made the overdraft early transaction mistake.
This is completely unacceptable, no financial institution I have ever been to takes this long to talk to a human customer, and has a brash response of invalidating a courtesy overdraft removal request because 7 months earlier my spouse as a co-account owner asked to remove a courtesy overdraft fee. I am at work while making this call during the day and take time out of my day to have my Credit union help me with nothing. The last person I spoke to was Rusty, a Vantage St. Louis coordinator in the contact center. I can hear his Microsoft Teams chat pinging over and over again, as I talk to him and call him out on it. Instead of apologizing he uses his egotistical response that he's busy as a manager and people are contacting him for issues making me feel less important and that he's wasting time talking to me with no resource or courtesy to me as a human being plus a long time 15+ year member of Vantage Credit union as a account holder. His only response was "it's not our fault and the only thing you can do is ask the eBay seller to pay for the $35 courtesy fee, I'm sorry I can't remove the courtesy fee".
Clearly speaking to 3 people who have the same cheapskate and less than customer friendly attitude at Vantage made me a furious user of this Credit Union.
For being a credit union, I came to the conclusion that VCU does a disservice to the community by charging these enormous fees due to the fact they arbitrarily decide to withhold humanity or compassion for customers like me. Plus they won't reverse the courtesy fee!!!! All this frustration over 1 $35 courtesy fee! To sum it up my December 18, 2020 35 minute call was of no assistance or courtesy with three unpolite contact center people! read more
