Used Vantage Movers for a 3-bedroom move from Texas to Charlotte, NC. Chose them because they've been in business over 5 years and had fewer complaints than others I looked at. Absolutely the worst moving company we have ever worked with. During the initial phone call I let them know that we had a weight machine, sent pictures and gave the model number to see if we would need to have someone take it apart before the move. I asked three separate times to make sure so we would know what to do. I was assured over and over again that they would be able to handle it and not to worry. On the day they arrived I was informed that I needed to get someone out there and have it disassembled before they were finished packing our stuff or it would not be able to be transported. After scrambling around last minute we found someone to help us. They did not let me know that they were a broker and would sub the job out. The company they hired to move our stuff was awful!!! They broke our grill, our generator, shattered a glass table top. Cracked the hardwood on my steps by dropping stuff on it, and one of the guys they hired through Craigs list fell through my ceiling in the kitchen and all I got was we will give you $75 and we are sorry it happened. Vantage Movers is simply after your business and once they get it, they are not interested in good customer service. I was upfront about the 3 things I needed most in order to select my mover (had acquired 4 other quotes to shop around).... 1.) I needed my things delivered by a specific date (I was told I needed to provide flexibility on the front end to ensure guaranteed deliver on the exact date.... I 100% agreed to provide whatever flexibility they needed) 2.) I needed a company that would allow me to charge the payments on a credit card 3.) I needed a company that could pick up some items at a different location along the way All of these promises were made both verbally and through a contract provided to me. In addition, I was continuously assured when I called to verify as we got closer or were in progress, that these would all be achieved. These were promises that were not kept... ALL OF THEM. Vantage told me what I wanted to hear to get my business, and selected a company to move me that knew nothing about the promises made to me. Then proceeded to blame the company they hired for not getting it right. First and foremost... I would advise everyone to NEVER HIRE A BROKER for a move who wont directly allow you to communicate with the hired carrier in advance of the move. I was given a company #, but no carrier was assigned and I would have to "wait until they called me" to know when they were coming. Vantage assured me my things would arrive on a guaranteed agreed date (which I paid extra to ensure)... when they didn't arrive on time, they blamed the carrier and wouldn't take responsibility.... & wouldn't even agree to refund the expedited fee I paid to ensure it's arrival Vantage agreed to ensure we could pick up my extra items at a different location along the way, yet the carrier called before my moved and asked to pick up the other items early. They talked me into it by telling me it would "make more sense" to have those items on board 1st so we knew how much space we had for the rest of my things. When the truck showed up for the move, my other things weren't even in the truck? They said they were left in a warehouse. Once I saw them again in MA... 2 of those boxes were falling apart and taped together. Some items missing and some broken. Lastly, Vantage assured me I would be able to make my full payment using a credit card. They even explained the 3 payments I would make and that the credit card payment would be a slight unchanged, which I understood and agreed to pay. I paid the deposit to them, but then they hired a carrier who had a different policy end nevver thought to check if they would honor what we had agreed upon. In the middle of the move, I learned that the carrier was expecting payment at the end in cash / money order. Not prepared for that, I called Vantage to make it right. They once again said it was up to the carrier... thank God I was able to work something out last minute with the carrier on this one, because Vantage was again taking no responsibility. Vantage, quite honestly, felt like a scam of a company from the minute they had secured my money. They may get on here and try and suggest that they did right by me and went out of their way to make things right. To assure everyone out there that may be wondering, the ONLY reason they took any action to refund the expedited fee I paid, is simply because I called my bank to put a stop payment on the entire payment I made them. In 5 calls and communications with the company, no responsibility was taken and no refund was offered. But once I took action to file a fraud claim with my bank, suddenly I got several calls trying to "help me" and offer me some refund. They knew they would lose the claim, so they refunded what I was asking for. Unfortunate that the quality of the customer service was embarrassingly terrible, and as many other have already written about, was even rude & dismissive. Only person who wanted to help me was upper management once he learned that I had frozen the payment and was initiating a claim. Shame on you Vantage! I hope people do not pick you, and I hope you somehow get held accountable for your poor business model. read more

This is an un-reputable company. We were quoted for approximately $2500 for a move. The estimate did not include an omitted couch, table, bed, chairs or sofa. Once the boxes were loaded into the truck they raised the rate 28% from the original estimate. No extra items were added. They did not stand by their quote, they exaggerated the price an extra 28% and held up a move. They were inconsiderate, rude and at the end of the day they lied and refused to back down. Go with someone else- not these bandits. This company is full of scammers and their corporate culture is trained to support lies. read more

I was nervous at first with a few negative reviews I read, but after comparing other companies, they had the least bad reviews for how long they've been in business. my move was California to Florida and everything went great. responsible crew , professionally packed my whole house. delivery was perfect. rigos was my carrier , Vantage was transparent the whole way . I did have a few more boxes than estimated, but they didnt twist my arm about it. i have another move planned with Vantage for my uncle in a couple months too. thank you for making my move stress free and easy! read more

I am not one to write reviews, but if I could leave less than one star, I would. I was assured movers would be available to move my small one bedroom apartment within a two day window. The movers did not show up until 7 pm at the end of day 2 because they were scheduled for another job in another state away. After loading my stuff it was 9 pm and they told me they would not be able to deliver my stuff until the next morning. This left me without anything and forced to chose between sleeping on the floor of my apartment or driving to my new place two hours away in a snowstorm at night to sleep on the floor there. The customer service officers were not communicative. Throughout day two, when the movers continued to not show, I called several times to ask for updates and express concern that the move would not be completed as scheduled. They assured me again and again the move would be completed as scheduled. When I called after the move was finally completed a day late, I asked if any discount could be provided given the extreme inconvenience and misguidance I was given. Dishonest! Spoke with both John and Tyler regarding a 14 mile move. Two calls were specifically regarding inventory of items to be moved. Bid was accepted. Vantage Movers (VM) was SPECIFICALLY asked if they employed the moving team or subcontracted. VM assured that the moving team were VM employees and there was NO SUBCONTRACTING. VM stated the team was vetted, background checked, honest, professional and careful! The team showed as scheduled but were employed by Cobra Movers! Upon entering house, they informed that the bid did not cover the quantity of items to be moved and that additional money would be required and/or some items would NOT be moved. The dishonesty and low estimate demonstrated the apparent lack of integrity of VM. Multiple requests were made for John to call regarding problems with the move. These requests were not met! There has been No communication with either John or Tyler, in fact, on the 3rd phone call, VM stated that the brokers (John and Tyler) had no further communication with the Customer! Still shocked at how inept these people are. Having moved several times I thought movers were all about the same but vantage has been a nightmare every step of the way: canceled on pick up day, no show on delivery day. They told me repeatedly that my things would be delivered within 7-21 business days. Which is the longest lead time I have ever received but whatever. After waiting it out I was then told it would be another 7-21 business days bcs I hadn't told them it was okay to deliver. These people do not return calls and do not care. Id give this company negative stars if possible. They give you a quote, then send over a different company to pick up your stuff. They then pick up your stuff 3 hours late, up charge you for everything that you were originally told was part of your contract. You must read the fine print on these contracts. They only accept CASH or USPS money orders and if you need to use a cashier check they want the only proof you get that its from your bank which is the stub. This business is shady and has underhanded tactics. I will be reporting them. read more

We signed up with Vantage movers because of their ratings. Big mistake. They made us make a list, which we did. And we were charged according to the list. Then they used a 3rd party movers to move us. What? They showed up with a small truck and I told them we have a housefull all pre packed for them and that the truck they sent was too small. Funny they showed up within 20 mins with a huge moving van...and then they charged us $6,000.00 more. The guy that was overseeing the move was rude. The whole experience was a nightmare. They were late bringing our belongings. If I can tell you anything when you hire a moving company. Make sure someone comes to your house and does an inventory in person. Not over the phone. This was, without exaggeration, the worst moving experience I've ever had. From the beginning, I did everything right. I called customer service multiple times to make sure my inventory was accurate, to confirm what they needed from me, and to double-check that packing services were included. Every single time, I was promised that everything was set. I was reassured repeatedly that the packing was included, that my estimate was correct, and that I was fully prepared for moving day. During the "quality assurance" call, I even updated my inventory and they suggested I might want more square footage "just in case" -- so I paid the additional $300+ upcharge to avoid any last-minute issues. I was told this would ensure everything went smoothly. Then the movers showed up -- and everything unraveled. It turned out they had outsourced my move to a third-party company who had no record whatsoever that I had paid for packing. The movers told me flat-out that they don't pack anything at all and refused to touch a single item unless I paid even more -- almost double the price. They also claimed they needed a bigger truck, despite the fact that I overestimated my inventory and paid extra specifically to prevent this. Suddenly my estimate ballooned to $5,700+. It became immediately clear that the entire process is designed to lowball you upfront and then gouge you on moving day. And when I asked for my money back? They refused to refund my $1,000 deposit, and they refused to refund the $300+ upcharge I paid based on their own recommendations and assurances. Those customer service and quality assurance calls were completely misleading -- full of empty promises, confident reassurances, and incorrect information. I was told everything was handled when, in reality, nothing was. This company is disorganized, dishonest, and predatory. If they refund me what I'm owed, I will remove this review. CROOKS~ DON'T DO IT!! Left us with damaged goods and spirits! Where to even begin?! This company is an absolute fraud. I've never been more lied to, overpromised and underserved. At NO point in the entire move did these people do what they said they'd do. Is there a way to leave zero or negative stars? My son hired Vantage movers to pack his one bedroom apartment in Nashville, store it all for a month and then move it all to Chicago. They were awful. Turns out Vantage are crook brokers who hired bad movers (Cita Van) to do all the work. Both groups are horrible. They were late to show up in Nashville (incredibly frustrating) and late to deliver to Chicago (even more frustrating). When they finally arrived (late) to pack us up in Nashville, the movers told us they picked their jobs up that day from Craig's List ~ ok, kind of odd. They DIDN'T HAVE PACKING PAPER so we went to Home Depot to buy some for them. We later learned everything was moved to storage in Alabama (why?!?!) and then delivered late to Chicago. When they finally delivered to Chicago by a "crew" of ONE PERSON, who spoke extremely broken English at best, he insisted on receiving payment in cash BEFORE unloading the truck... SKETCH!! You probably won't be surprised to learn the contents were a mess: TV screen was massively cracked with a wall mount that didn't belong to our now broken TV, they lost all the screws to my son's bed frame, pictures were broken and nice business shirts and suit were a wrinkled mess in the bottom of a garment box we purchased from them at the front end of the move in Nashville. Thank God my son is a big, strong young man b/c I don't know how much longer it would have taken or how much more damaged everything would have been had this "crew" been left to unload it all on his own. At one point while unloading the truck, the mover actually started unloading a chair that wasn't my son's. My son told him it was not his and the mover encouraged him to just take it anyway. When my son refused, the mover literally threw it in the dumpster that was parked across the street. I feel bad for the customer who will never see or know whatever happened to his/her favorite chair. Every point of this transaction was handled very unprofessionally by people who really didn't care. During this never ending saga, countless calls to management were handled by what sounded like young kids who had no idea how to respond to questions or solve problems. The entire move felt like one giant scam job. And at every point, their only response and fall back line was: "It's in the contract". Yeah, I don't think so. I would rather have pulled all the contents of my son's apartment behind me on a horse drawn carriage than deal with this headache. Don't be fooled by good reviews or false promises. If I had it all over to do again, I'd hire a trustworthy young recent graduate still looking for work to drive my belongings across the country before dealing with any movers/brokers again. Absolute worst moving company I have ever used. Somehow they are supposed to be ranked in the top three on line. Start off by saying they are not the moving company. They are only a broker! I was moving across the country. from Louisiana to California for a new job. The first thing that was suspicious that happened is they bid about $800 less than two other companies. That's why I decided to go with them. I gave an exact detail of what Items I had. How many boxes, end tables, king bed etc. I gave the exact outline of what I was moving. When they came to pick everything up they told me it took more room than anticipated and would be a charge of an extra $900. I immediately thought you low balled me to get the job then charged me exactly what I was being quoted by the two other higher rated companies. I told them I was not happy about this and they said you don't have to pay us we will unload this and leave it on the side of the street. Was told thier original bid was just an estimate. They do this every day and I told them exactly what they were moving. It is a bait and switch job and then threaten to leave your property on side of the road if you don't comply with the higher charge. I did not have a place yet in California. My company put me up in a hotel while I found a place to live. Vantage movers told me no problem we will store your furniture for 30 days at no charge. Once you find a place, call in your new address and we will get you moved in. It took me a few weeks to find a place. I called vantage movers to schedule the move in. They then informed me they had 21 days to get my things to me. I just rented a new place with a move in date a week away and Vantage tells me they have 21 days to get my stuff to me. Not what I was told originally. They expressed to look at my contract. It does say they have 21 days in the small print buried in the contract. However, during the original discussion why not say once you have your new address give us a call and we will get you moved in within 21 days. I would have backed up my move in date with the new place if I would have known this. So, for two weeks I have now been on a air mattress with no essentials other than what I went and bought. I had to spend money on items that I should not have had to. We are now at 18 days not a single bit of communication. I have called them numerous times this week about a status and keep being told they will get back with me that they have to reach out to the courier to find out. So this confirmed they were not the courier and just a broker. I was also told if they do not hit the 21 day they stipulated it was a $30 a day penalty to them. I am just waiting for them to now tell me they have had my furniture longer than the 30 days that was free. Now this is not due to me it is due to them taking so long to deliver it. I was also just told my items are in storage in Tennessee. If you are moving to California from Louisiana why not go ahead and ship the items to California and store them there and coordinate delivery in the area. What are they doing in Tennessee. Do not use this company. They are horrible. They do not communicate once they have your stuff. They are responsive prior to pick up but then crickets after they have your items hostage. I am still on a air mattress. Basically living with what would fit into my suitcase, bough a pot and pan so I could cook something and two glasses until my items arrive. Who knows when this will be. Now I can't wait to see what is broken. Since they are using numerous carriers and loading and unloading my things who knows how many times. I can see this not being the end to this story. Next time I will call a national mover like Allied Van Lines. Used them in the past and went flawless. Should have done this but I didn't have as much stuff as I used to. Thought this would be ok. We were able to do the move Sunday afternoon and everything went smoothly even with her apartment on the 3rd floor. Alex, the owner was very professional and polite. The cost was very reasonable too.
