After the disastrous brouhaha that led me to to write a scathing (okay, mildly scathing), review for *another* dry cleaner in this small town, I thought it would only be right to balance the scales with a positive review. This is dry cleaning done right. While some of my friends are flakesters and will hit up the cheapest joint in HoJo, others have long been extolling the magnificent services of Van Vlack's. Family owned, professional, and timely, this place IS on the steep side. However: Stubborn stain? Gone. Stinky shirt? Clean. Crumpled suit? Crisp. If I could give negative stars I would. We went to pick up our dry cleaning this morning and upon entry discovered that the employee present was not wearing any sort of face covering. After we asked her to put her mask on, she became very combative. This is the second time we've encountered this same employee running the front of the business without wearing a mask. The owners do not seem to be concerned with enforcing Covid-19 public health safety protocols for their employees, even thought there is signage out front that clearly states customers must wear masks if they want to be serviced. This is gravely concerning since this lack of care subsequently puts both employees AND customers at risk of getting sick. Very reprehensible behavior and I urge anyone who has any sort of immune system problem due to cancer treatment, autoimmune disease, etc. to STEER CLEAR of this business. They lost a cocktail beaded dress of mine. Still waiting since June to be reimbursed. Owner never called to apologize. Manager of store not helping at all. Won't give me name of owner. Dress was over 100.00. Very upset. Always went to them. Now they send there cleaning out. I'll never go there again. read more

SO, I walk into Van Vlack's intro myself & say we just moved into the neighborhood and need a dry cleaner, no response, no welcome, no welcome to the Neighborhood we have a new customer special etc. I drop my 5 items off & exit. When I get home i review the receipt and see that one item is not listed, I call, the clerk says you only dropped off 4 items, we discuss with me insisting, she says I have another customer, we only have 4 items. hangs up. Basically accuses me of lying. I know I dropped of 5 pieces. 10 minutes later she calls me says i found the other piece was in a special bag since you wanted on Thurs instead of Fri. By the way when I asked for Thursday pick up because I needed, she says "everyone asks," etc, I need them , ok you'll get em Thurs after 4. No Apology, no sense of good customer service, no saying I'm sorry for the confusion, we'll give you a discount for the inconvenience. I go in to pick up the clothes, say I'm a marketing person & you've lost me as a customer because etc. Holds up her hand says I don't want to hear it. She does sayI apologize but then won't listen to me. I told her we will never use her svc again & walk out. Really Poor Customer Service, no clue. Would not recommend. DLA read more

Although the woman at the front desk is pleasant, I've had three negative experiences here: 1. Dropped off a winter jacket and it came back without the hood on it. Had to make a second trip to pick up the hood separately once they found it. 2. Dropped off same winter jacket next season asking for stains to be removed from front of it. Picked up jacket and it looked like nothing had been done to remove stains. 3. Dropped off suit on Monday, told to pick it up on Friday. Arrived Friday to pick it up and was told the jacket was ready, but they couldn't locate the pants. Needed to have the suit for an event on Sunday and wound up having to buy a whole new suit with reassurance from Van Vlack's that it would "probably turn up in the next few weeks." Bottom line: I will never go here again, even though it is literally 2 minutes from where I live. If you like rolling the dice on whether or not you will have a good experience, this is the place for you. If not, steer clear! read more

I went to this place last week to get a dress cleaned. This is the "new owner" I guess named Rich. Well sure enough, he must be new or cocky because he swore up & down that he could take this 1 stain out of my dress that was recently there. I went in a few days later to pick it up & it looked like the stain was never enough touched. I told Rich I was disappointed because he said he could get it out & it looked exactly the same from when I brought it in. He proceeded to tell me no other dry cleaners can get it out because he's been in this business "for years", & if he couldn't get it out then no one can. Well sure enough I took it to another cleaners & now my stain is out!!! I will never go back to his cleaners again!! smh... read more

I brought a wool coat in for dry cleaning. When I picked it up a week later, nothing had been done. (I had spilled hot chocolate on it, and the stain was untouched. There was still hair on the jacket, proving that it hadn't seen the inside of a cleaning machine.) The girl refused to refund our money even though it was obvious that the item had not been cleaned. I left it there to be re-done, which they promised to do as a rush. The second time it looked like they did a little bit of cleaning on it, but they might have just brushed it off a bit, because there were still some hairs (fewer this time) and the stain was still there, even though I had specifically pointed it out to the girl. (Part of the problem is that the girl there just gives receipts and takes money, she doesn't make any notes about what the item needs. Not that it would matter, since they don't do anything anyway...) By now I was kind of in a bind because I needed the coat, so I took a little vodka and brushed the hot chocolate stain with a lint brush, and it came right off! So I think that pretty much proves that they had not even tried to clean it. AVOID THIS PLACE. They take your money and don't clean your clothes. read more

So I brought in like 6 women's button downs to be dry cleaned and pressed. Picked them up days later (seemingly forever later) to get them and have them look like I ironed them myself. Had I wanted to iron them myself I would've saved the SEVEN DOLLARS EACH. *eye roll* horrendous job and it was SO EXPENSIVE. read more
