Dont waste your time or money. For $85, I got my bridesmaid dress back with strings hanging off the hem, dark spots throughout the skirt, veryyy uneven hem, bra cups that dont fit,..the list goes on. I dont know how Patty is still in business. read more

Dress was ready 2 weeks after promised delivery. Dress given back with loose threads, a needle and thread still attached and not fitting as it was suppose to. She was rude, and disparaging; how do you blame the customer for not calling to "remind [you] to work on the dress?" Unfortunately I didn't have time to take the dress to a true tailor to be fixed because she had to too long. Stay away from this shop! read more

Had my wedding dress alterations done here. My dress was about 2 sizes too big in some places, needed a bustle, and a hem, plus had the style of the bottom of the dress changed. With all the alterations I was charged less than 300 and excellent work was done. My wedding dress was taken from an unflattering potato sack to a beautiful form fitting gown! I've never been so disapointed, angry, and upset by how myself, and my family was treated by the owner of this place. Not only did she mess up the hem of both my sister and my dress, she never once apologized or tried to make things right. She instantly became aggressive when my mother asked of there was anything we can do to fix the dress. My sister's bridesmaid dress was cut 3 inches too short and uneven. My dress is uneven and dragging on the floor in the back but too short in the front. On top of the woman messing up on the dresses, yelling at us in the store, kicking us out of the store, she's now berating my family on Facebook for leaving a review. read more

The tailoring itself was OK, but OH MY GOODNESS is one of the tailors rude. There are two women here: an older Irish woman and her daughter, whose name, I believe is Pat. The older woman is friendly, but not often there, but her daughter is so unpleasant it's unbelievable the store is still in business. Among other things, she kept telling me the item I brought in "was a disaster," kept making fun of me because the dress didn't fit, and told me I "have a butt like a shelf," but definitely not in a complimentary way. On top of it all, I ended up paying as much as the dress cost on alterations which, after 3 fittings (many of which were rescheduled by her at the last minute) left the dress too big. So, if you want to spend a lot of time and money being yelled at by a jerk who smells like cigarettes while her son watches, this is the place for you. Otherwise, go LITERALLY anywhere else in the whole world. read more

I took my dress to Hopewell tailor on April 1st and the woman there told me that it would take about 5 weeks to do the work (hem and taking it in a smidge). She told me to give her a call on May 6th for a 2nd fitting. I called May 6th and she says she has STARTED on my dress and she has been really busy with prom dress season. She said that it'll take another week to 10 days and she would call me so I could come in to "at least do the bustle." I waited and called a week later. She said it'll be ready for a bustle fitting in a week. That's today and here's what happened: I called again and heard the same story as the last 2 calls. I figured " hey let me at least see my dress because that's better than waiting another week." So I went to the shop and just asked to see the progress on the dress since it as been there for 7 weeks. She shows me and there is nothing done. It's not even pressed. All the pins are there, it is completely wrinkled from sitting in the bag. She told me she has been really busy with prom dresses and other alterations but there is still plenty of time to alter my dress. I told her I understood but my dress has been in her shop for 7 weeks and nothing has been done. I left, dress in hand, 5 weeks before my wedding. I'm truly disappointed because I spent a month complimenting how well the 1st fitting went and how I like her. I didn't deserve to be lied to and told that she started it when it never left the bag. read more

She literally screwed up two different bridesmaid dresses and when we told her about it she looked at the dress acknowledged it was short and uneven, threw the dresses at us and kicked us out of the store. I have never written a review but I felt compelled to do so today. Last week I had an alteration emergency! I called every place on yelp to no avail until I called Hopewell Tailor Shop. I was very reluctant because of the reviews on yelp. I called them and explained to them my situation and they went above and beyond to help me divert my emergency situation. My situation caused the owner to have to work after closing hours to help me so I could fly out the very next day for a very important ceremony. She stopped working on the item she was working on just to help me. While I was there in her shop she was making alterations on a wedding gown and the future bride and her mother spoke very highly of her. They both commented that she is the only one they trust with their alterations. She was very professional, helpful, and polite. The item I had altered turned out perfect and I received many compliments! So kudos to Hopewell Tailor Shop for a job well done! I have been going to Pat and her mom at Hopewell Tailor for three years. Previously I lived in Chicago and Washington DC and have worked with many fine tailors. Pat's skills are exceptional and she is beyond comparison! She has tailored my suits, jeans, evening wear, and even made my niece's Communion veil using my wedding tiara !! She changed my suits from frumpy to professional and elegant. She is outstanding with men's suits also and knows whether a man looks best in a single- or double-breasted suit, cuffs or no cuffs, single vent or double. It is unfortunate that the previous reviewer felt offended by Pat's honesty. Who wouldn't want a tailor who knows fabric, cut, and style and will be honest and tell you what looks best for your body type? That is what I want to hear and it would be foolish to be upset by the opinion of a professional who knows what works best for you. read more

Very unsatisfied!!! I brought my daughter's dress for a dance in 5 weeks ago to have it taken in at the sides and so the arm holes wouldn't be too big. Picked it up today and the arm holes are way to big. None of the suggestions to make it better would work. The tailor said to me "You know why you got this dress for a low price? Because it will never fit anyone!" WHY didn't she tell me this 5 weeks ago? Could have spent the money she charged on a new dress instead! Now I have two days to come up with a solution and I feel like I flushed the money down the toilet. She either doesn't know what she is doing or she cheated me. I have been going to the Hopewell Tailor Shop for years I have had multiple evening gowns tailored there and each time they come out beautiful! Pattie the owner of the shop is very honest but always gives good advice and has the artistic eye for the dress alterations. She and her mother are very good at what they do and they are just as good if not better as New York City tailors. I doubt I will ever go anywhere else for my tailoring. I could not disagree with the previous review more. A couple of days before my wedding i decided to try my dress on one final time and realized that the final alterations that were supposed to be made at the place I got my alterations done in the city had not been done and that they had decided to make other alterations I had not signed off on. Freaking out, my mom and I went in to Hopewell Tailor Shop as soon as it opened the next morning, just 3 days before the wedding. We had each only been in there once before and the owner barely knew us yet she went above and beyond making sure to devote as much time and attention as she could towards making sure my dress was perfect for the wedding day. I could not be happier with how the dress turned out - it was even more perfect than I ever could have imagined and I owe it all to Patty. Because we were asking for a rush job on a very complex dress (all lace), I was a little worried that it was going to cost us a fortune but she was so incredibly reasonable and didn't try to take us for a ride which we really appreciated. I will definitely be bringing all my future business to her and telling everyone I know to go here as well. She truly helped make my wedding day perfect! read more
