I have been coming to Vargos for 20 + years. It's always good service and good food. This day I got a pulled chicken sandwich without the bun (just a little 4 oz cup of shredded roots brand chicken) it was a nice warm protein. I also got French fries as they are the only thing that is cooked in their own fryer, making it less contaminated by its gluten friends. Topped off the meal with a bumble berry slush float and the total was under $10 and filling! Good place for ice cream. It also has hot food. Vargo's Drive In is a longtime favorite in Norwalk. Also come here to play golf. They have a miniature course that looks a bit interesting. A lot of the usual stuff here. It has a lot of ice cream and frozen items. They have a decent selection of cold and hot stuff. It has a surprisingly large menu. We looked over it for a few minutes and got some frozen treats. I got a lemon lime slushie. This is a good size for what they charge you. It's about $2 for a medium. My female friend had the orange sherbet. It's about the same price for a medium bowl. This comes in a large cup all filled. It overall has a good value and they give you a lot for what they charge. Maybe it's not the best but they have good prices. There's also miniature golf so you can burn calories after eating treats. read more

Always a treat to stop here when we are in Norwalk, on vacation. I got a peanut butter shake and it was not as good as it has been in past years. The peanut butter sauce is not the same, using a cheaper brand? Less flavor and texture. I have had a couple people tell me they have noticed the same. read more

Fun old school creamy whip that also has a nice 18 hole mini golf course. Typical ice cream and sundae offerings with a variety of hot items too (hot dogs, fries, etc) Perfect family outing on a summer evening. My kids loved the golf and the Pokémon shop in back. Service was fast and friendly. We used the walk-up window but they do have a drive-through. Popular place with locals. read more

I always stop at Vargo's when I visit Norwalk, but my most recent experience was completely off putting. Two out of three employees working the drive through were not wearing masks or gloves while serving food during a pandemic...Watching the employee clench our ice cream cones with her bare hands was repugnant. We threw the ice cream cones away. Sad to say that I will no longer frequent this business, however I am glad that the unsanitary conditions and the complete disregard for public health were brought to light. read more

Ice cream is good and mini golf was great. Service sucked as the girl working would ask questions then not listen to the answer. Ordered chocolate dipped in cherry and repeated it twice. She also repeated it. Yet brought it without sipped and said, oh I didn't get that. Except she got that when she charged for it. I suggest asking for a receipt when ordering so you can make sure you get what you ordered and don't here, I didn't get that. read more
