We signed up for this service on 1-28-25. Our daughter did not care for the 1st Tutor so we changed. English was not good. Our 2nd tutor wouldn't even turn her camera on during the sessions and didn't really seem to care about offering decent service. The tutor then sent us an email at the end of February saying she was cancelling our future sessions. Then, we were billed $529 three days after the Tutor cancelled on us. We didn't even realize this was an auto charge/subscription. They were not up front with that information. Varisty was not willing to refund us so we disputed the charge. 30 days later and it is still not resolved. They won't even allow us to book future sessions that we paid for. They have taken our $529 and won't even schedule future sessions with us. We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

Update 4/21/23 A representative from VT reached out to discuss what transpired and apologized for the manner in which our account and family were treated. I believe their acknowledgment and act of reconciliation, by way of a mutually acceptable resolution, was sincere. Varsity Tutors Values Profit Over Customer Service It is with regret we write this review as we have been customers of Varsity Tutors (VT) since 2019. Our experience with VT had, before now, been one that was a mostly positive relationship. As one might expect, the experiences with tutors was varied... some excellent, others not so much. However, when and where there were issues VT attempted to resolve the matter. Now, we have come to be of the opinion that our relationship, and their willingness to maintain contact and/or "check-in" was likely tied to our continued used and consistent purchase of hours. Upon review our records, we have spent close to $8,000 with VT. That's right, $8,000. And throughout our time with Varsity Tutors, we were constantly emailed, texted, and called (borderline harangued) to purchase additional hours... advised of a monthly special... a limited time offer. With our son now in his first year of college, the primary user of VT hours, he has not had as much need for tutoring over the last several months as his University often offers resources for academic assistance. Our daughter did recently tap in to VT to get support or feedback on her college essays, and our son used the instant tutoring just a few days ago. Each time logging in, the dashboard reassuring us on the number of hours remaining - about 5+ hours. However, the literal day after our son used a "drop-in/instant tutoring" session we noticed that Varsity Tutors had deducted all remaining hours - which is equivalent to about $300.00. The reason, our hours had "expired". No emails, no message on the dashboard, no calls... silence. This was particularly upsetting as our son had an exam the following day for which he needed assistance but now could not obtain unless we paid more money. When we spoke with Varsity Tutors to seek clarification they advised that they had the contractual right to do this.. please see section 2.1.1. however, if we renewed our plan with them at $299 per month for six months, or $329 per month on a month to month basis they would give us a free month (on offset for those hours taken). Regardless of what the contract might state, the priorities and motivation of this company is quite evident to us - to continue to press you to purchase more services - and focus on their bottom line. And if you don't use hours quick enough, don't worry they will just take it from you! Shame on Varsity Tutors! We highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

Your "Live Learning Platform is very easy to navigate and very user friendly.
