I have, most recently utilized the services of Sunhee, an SAT tutor who has singlehandedly enabled my daughter to raise her SAT score by over 200 points. The experience of SAT test prep, which can be grueling, unpleasant and painful, has been actually enjoyable for my daughter. I think this has much to do with the relationship and rapport she has developed with Sunhee. From the first session to the last, he has been responsive, supportive, encouraging, and motivational. I have also known Ned Johnson, the owner, for over two decades. He is an incredible person, dedicated to achieving success for all Prep Matter students. He has called me at home to discuss my kids' progress and has personally met with my kids when they have struggled academically or needed an extra boost of encouragement. He cares about each and every student who walks through his doors, remembering their names and stories long after they have graduated from high school and gone to college. She is really great about learning each kid's way of learning and then teaching effectively to that. Also, my son just really enjoys spending time with her and doing all the math they do. I'm super fond of her as well. We also worked very briefly with Moose in the Tenleytown office. He is a physics whiz and the brevity of our working relationship was only because my son had no teacher at school so needed guidance until one was hired. Moose was the perfect interim! I have recommended both him and Sharon many times. We have also worked with PM in the college counseling realm. Full disclosure- I have my own college counseling business, but my son and I didn't want to work together during his application process. So, we interviewed several companies and immediately chose to partner with PM's Maureen Delaney. She is wonderful, and my son loves working with her. Lastly, I'll note that Ned Johnson, founder and leader of PM, is a terrific human who is deeply committed to and knowledgeable about education, development, and adolescent. This is going to be long, but a must read!!…read more If you've been struggling with the LSAT let me be the first to say it has NOTHING to do with your intelligence!!! Read that again. It doesn't matter how many times you've took the LSAT or who got into law school before you. Your time is coming. I've took the LSAT MULTIPLE times and have a history of underperformance on standardized tests. I never understood why until I found Shana. I never thought for a second that I possibly could be suffering from test anxiety. Test anxiety takes on many forms, but Shana will help you through it. I've been working Shana for the past two weeks remotely and let me tell you she's truly God sent. Whether you're religious or spiritual (maybe neither) it doesn't matter, but she's truly a blessing. Shana is passsionate about the work that she does and her students. Shana is a teacher at heart and she breaks down the material in such a way that things start to click instantly. Shana not only helps you master the LSAT, but she provides you with test anxiety strategies that will make studying easy. I look forward to studying with Shana and doing my hw. When you work with her, she will start to peel away at the layers of your anxiety. This needs to be done in order to make progress. Your anxiety has been in control far too long and it's time to let it go. Even if you're not suffering from anxiety, adhd, or other learning disabilities Shana is for EVERYONE. Invest in yourself and get Shana on your team. Studying this time around is different. I can see and feel it. I'm much more relaxed. I still have a lot work to do, but I'm ready this time. Most of the instructors have never been teachers before and only started after scoring in the 99th percentile on the LSAT. Now that isn't a bad thing, of course you want to be in a class with an instructor who aced the exam( in my opinion). However, just because you're good at something doesn't mean you're qualified to teach it. Also, if you suffer from anxiety, adhd, and other learning disabilities they might not be able to provide you with the support/accommodations that you need. Shana is and her work speaks for herself.

Our son used Private Prep to prepare for his ACT exam. We had a frustrating experience. The…read moretutors were good but young and relatively inexperienced. When we switched to another test prep outfit the tutors were much more experienced and had more in depth knowledge and advice to share and his grade improved. Private Prep prides itself in its test prep materials. The materials were delivered late causing delays in studying and when delivered we discovered they had no answer explanations and we were out of the country without any other study guides. PP knew we would be away but failed to notify us of the lack of explanations. To make matters worse, the math section of the materials was full of mistakes. The overall PP Director, Angela, was extremely apologetic and helpful but we decided to make a change. Last week our son was admitted to Yale, Duke and Penn and so we're glad we made the change.

Going into the year, I had no idea whether to take the ACT or the SAT and he helped guide me in a path that lead me to the most success. I ended up primarily studying for the ACT and took the SAT a few times toward the end of the year, and he had great tricks and access to excellent study tools to help me and give me a lot of practice. The workbook that Marks Education has created is so helpful and full of all the information you need for the test. Incredibly well thought out! He also gave me actual ACT and SATs to give me practice so that when I walked into the test I knew what to expect. He also had awesome packets and review materials, as well as previous AP tests to help me prepare for the AP tests I took Ryan gave me confidence in an area that is hard to feel confident about. He always motivated me, and knew how to help me in areas that I was struggling in. Ross missed pre-scheduled phone calls more than once with no notice and went AWOL right on time for the early decision applicaiton to be due. We landed up panicking and submitting it without any reviews from him. A lot of aggravation and stress to say the least. when we complained about the service, and asked to have them charge us for the 5-6 hours he had spent thus far and to refund the difference, we got told that the company policy does not allow that!. We were stuck and landed up trying to just get the essays looked at by him and not using any of the edits. Do yourself a favor, if you need someone to look over your essays and have exhausted your friends, teachers as options, hire an essay editing service.
