Garbage......This was my price for a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and a side salad, cheesecake and tea. The owner was on the phone when she rang me us and pushed me aside for the next customer. When I called about this she said this is what I ordered. Which it is not and she said she didn't care if I don't come back. She said I could bring back one salad and get a refund for 1.95. For a salad I did not order. She said she has done her job for 15 years and never made a mistake, she said it was my error. She said I need to speak clearer about what I want. So if you decide to eat at Vasileios in Mt. Holly make sure the owner isn't on the phone when taking your order or you will get and pay for what she heard. She didn't even say a price when she took my card, just swiped it. I told I would make sure everyone knew what she did and she said I have enough business I don't care.

The food was amazing- I enjoyed the food and the service was perfect - the restaurant is a small. The food was so fresh. Service with a smile makes a difference. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good variety.

New menu item, chicken and broccoli alfredo lasagna! delicious!

I have been eating at Vasileios for as long as they have been open. Always good food. I prefer take out and the newest menu item, chicken and brocolli alfredo lasagna is my new favorite. You cant go wrong with the red lasagna either. I love that the Italian dishes include salad and breadsticks and the ranch dressing is so good! Don't forget they have greek dishes too!

What's in this photo? Victim blaming and avoidance of responsibility, with a side of weird, Trumpian capitalization.

The food is mediocre at best. The owners have a long-standing reputation in the town as being terrible to work for, and here they reinforce that reputation by spending money to have professionally printed (yet poorly designed) signs produced to shame the workers they mistreat and want to pay $2/hr.

I want to first say that I like Vasileio's. This review is from my last visit, but still 4 stars. The menu is so vast and I want to try a little bit of everything This particular visit I tried the chicken Marsala. This dish wasn't my favorite from them. I have had shrimp Alfredo, which is good. Lasagna, is okay. Spaghetti, is okay. My friend had a Philly cheesesteak, which they liked very much. The picture posted is of the chicken Marsala, which is served with pasta, and that was good. I believe the sauce was what went wrong with the flavor of the dish. The chicken had a soggy breading on it, which could have been ignored if the sauce was richer. Service has always been pretty good. This particular visit I picked up my order at the drive up window and the older lady that helped me was super nice! I've had one of the younger girls seem a little short with me before, but it wasn't a big deal. I was a little sad that I had asked for a cherry cheesecake cup and received strawberry instead. I've never eaten inside, but it seems to be a nice family friendly atmosphere.

Complimentary Bread Sticks and watery Marinara Dipping Sauce

Leaves much to be desired. Been curious about this place for some time and finally decided to give them a try since we were going to be in the area. Had a hair cut appointment at noon so we got a bit of late start and got there around 1:30. At my age, I no longer pay for a hair cut but it's more of a finders fee. Pulled into the parking lot and admired the Christmas Painting still on the windows. Gave a homey feel to the place. Walked into an otherwise empty lobby with one couple ahead of us. Turns out they were take out and waiting for their order. We stood there for awhile until someone finally came over to seat us. Restaurant looked to be about 1/3 full with multiple unbused tables waiting to be cleaned. There appeared to be only one server to service the entire dining area plus one manager and another person who would come out occasionally to clean I suspect. We got our menus and ordered our beverages which for both of us was tea although mine we half and half unsweetened and sweeten tea to get the sweetness level right. I was very excited about the menu because it was a mixture of Italian and Greek with Subs and Wraps as well. Spotted one of my favorites which was Moussaka but when I tried to order it, I got the deer in the headlights look that told me it was not available and I suspect lots of other dishes that require intensive preparation would not be as well. Big disappointment. I ended up ordering and Italian Sausage Parmesan Sub with side of Fries. My wife ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Wrap with a okra subed for the Fries. While we waited, our server brought out bread sticks with a marinara dipping sauce. My wife declined the bread but the server became very defensive and said that they were complementary and we did not have to pay for them. Not the issue. My wife is on a diet and has to limit what she eats and bread is big source of carbohydrates. If she wanted the bread, price would not have the issue. In the end, I ate the Break Sticks but found the Marinara Dipping Sauce to be devoid of flavor. Lunch came out and again the Marinara on the Sub had no taste of tang and did not add anything to the sandwich. Fries even though a nice presentation were not very good either and were actually hard and crunchy. My wife said her wrap was OK and did enjoy the Okra but other than that, nothing to write home about. In the end, a lot of other places we could have tried and will do so next time.

On my recent visit I was seeking something local and wondered if there just be a Greek option…read morearound. Well I was pleased to find just the ticket in the heart of Gastonia, in a strip mall, it was  Akropolis Cafe. A charming family-owned eatery that's been delighting locals with authentic Greek cuisine since its establishment in 2014. Located at 3070 E Franklin Blvd, the cafe offers a cozy atmosphere where you can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The history of Akropolis Cafe is rooted in the love for traditional Greek cooking and the desire to share it with the community. The founders, a family of Greek immigrants, brought their treasured family recipes to life in the heart of Gastonia, creating a culinary destination that celebrates the rich flavors and aromas of their homeland. I do love good Greek food, and fresh,  authentic, and local sealed the deal. We'd been vacationing and traveling for over a week so we decided to get some takeout and eat in.  Akropolis Cafe's menu features an array of delectable options, including classic Greek appetizers like hummus, tzatziki, and dolmades. You can also indulge in hearty entrees such as gyros, moussaka, and pastitsio, or opt for lighter fare like the fresh Greek salad or the vegetarian-friendly spinach pie. To satisfy those with a sweet tooth, the cafe offers traditional Greek desserts like baklava and loukoumades.  I was surprised with some of the non-Greek choices like mozzarella sticks, burgers, BLT, Pork Chop platter, fish platter, (tilapia, no thanks) chicken salad but the Pita Pizza looks good.  We settled on Greek Salad, Spinakopita, Tenderloin Shishkabob, Tyropita, pita bread, hummus, tzatziki, Greek rice baklava and fries. I've been eating and cooking Greek food for decades and have had my share of the real deal and these folks at Akropolis Cafe do a very good job and I would definitely eat here again.  Note: I noticed in my search to find this place I saw lots of very positive reviews and saw quite a few complaints that didn't reflect on their food but repeatedly mentioned DoorDash deliveries that were disappointing. FYI Bottom line: Akropolis Cafe is a real gem in the Gastonia dining scene, offering a delightful combination of authentic Greek cuisine, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. Great Greek food, friendly people and reasonable prices, try them today! Highly recommended!!  Hours:  * Tuesday to Thursday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 5 - 9 PM * Friday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 5 - 10 PM * Saturday: 11 AM - 9 PM * Sunday: 12 - 3 PM, 5 - 8 PM * Monday: Closed To explore the full menu, make reservations, or learn more about Akropolis Cafe, visit their website at:  https://akropoliscafenc.com. The previous owner and operator from New Jersey prided themselves on the best product and service…read morethey could offer. The gyros were authentic and delicious, a real gem out here. We had the misfortune today of wasting an 1 hr. roundtrip drive to experience the worst gyros possibly ever made. New management, NO manager on the floor, young people working their first job here. I don't know what side of the planet one would have to travel to suffer more offensive gyros like these. Unlike the original lamb gyros, these were some hybrid, air-injected, whipped-up meat molded back together to give the appearance of meat. One did not need teeth to bite through this mush-meat substitute with zero flavor. I tried three small bites and threw out the meal, as did my wife. The sandwich came out lukewarm and the fries barely warm. We spent $26.00, took a few bites, and walked the food back to the counter to throw it out. We asked to speak to a manager; nope, none here. We politely informed them how poor the food tasted, and that is when we found out about the new owners. We told them we were offended by the product, and they just walked away, not their problem. There was not one table with customers; how could they serve non-hot food? We informed them that we would never be back; embarrassing product. We were wiping our lips an hour later after the few bites, attempting to get the taste off our lips. It tasted like some type of grease fat - disgusting. As I write this, I see my previous review of 3-16-2024. This is HOW far this new restaurant has slid down the hill. They are currently doing a carryout business; this will NOT last long. The ONLY thing that gives this a 1-star rating is the fact that it looks like a restaurant and the walls are still standing. Could you make any less effort to run a business????

So we checked locally and discovered a new (to us) Greek restaurant. My wife and I arrived about 7:00 PM on Thursday, after having made an online reservation. When we arrived, plenty of open booths , so we were seated and brought menus. Any new Greek place we must try their Spanakopita so we ordered one to split. We also decided to split a Greek Salad and a Moussaka. Our Spanakopita came quickly. We divided it and tested. Hmm. Not bad, but not what we're used to having. We actually prefer more filo than here. Her salad came and we divided part of it also. It was crisp, cold and yummy. After a bit my Moussaka arrived. To our surprise it came in a custard bowl and looked like a Shepherd's Pie. Unusual since we've always been served Moussaka in squares like a Lasagna. It was fantastic, a perfect blend of meat and vegetables. Of course next we needed dessert. My wife couldn't decide on the Baklava Cheesecake or the Caramel Cheesecake, so she got both! I liked the Caramel but so sweet I had to drink water with it. Good food, nice ambiance. Service a bit slow and told us they did have a military discount, but somehow forgot to use it. There appeared to be huge dividing panel that maybe closed off larger room for special events.

The Baklava sundae was also a very good amount. Me and someone else shared the dessert and it was fulfilling. (Not pictured) The coffee, cheesecake, hummus dip and more entrees ordered. - The coffee was very strong and bitter. - The cheesecake was really good and all the different types & flavors of the drizzle was good too. - The hummus and pita bread was very good as well! Great taste to the hummus! The ambiance was calm, modern, yet elegant and classy! The service was also top notch. I do like that you have to reserve, because that makes the experience more personal and I loved that part about it! We went to the restaurant after our church service on Sunday around 2PM and when we were leaving, there was just one other party there, that had a reservation but it was so quiet, you would not have been able to tell. If you like something quiet and intimate, this is the place! The restrooms were very clean and beautiful as well. It did not smell very well so possibly some air fresheners would be helpful, but overall, the good outweighed the bad. Everything will never be perfect but this place was a definite 5/5 rating!
