So we tried this restaurant again and was not impressed. The service was the worse in the area. The food was ok nothing to brag about the tzatziki sauce reminded me of tartar sauce. The ambience was like an old mom and pop restaurant. Would I give it another chance probably not, 2xs enough having the same experience. Like a few places in mount Holly i try to explore the menu each time i come back, and a couple i never went back. VASILEIO"S is a winner from breakfast, lunch. and dinner. This time I had the beef tips over rice and the two sides and it was tender and very flavorful probably have it again but it's hard to beat not having one of their calzones maybe next time I'll try a stromboli it caught my eye. Garbage......This was my price for a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and a side salad, cheesecake and tea. The owner was on the phone when she rang me us and pushed me aside for the next customer. When I called about this she said this is what I ordered. Which it is not and she said she didn't care if I don't come back. She said I could bring back one salad and get a refund for 1.95. For a salad I did not order. She said she has done her job for 15 years and never made a mistake, she said it was my error. She said I need to speak clearer about what I want. So if you decide to eat at Vasileios in Mt. Holly make sure the owner isn't on the phone when taking your order or you will get and pay for what she heard. She didn't even say a price when she took my card, just swiped it. I told I would make sure everyone knew what she did and she said I have enough business I don't care. read more

It's okay. That's my summation. My husband likes it because it is inexpensive, but he knows better. Food is just mediocre, it doesn't really taste like it was homemade by anyone who knows what they are doing. The atmosphere is pretty much like a diner, but it's not trying to be fancy. Our service was fine. As I recall, they did not have any wine that I was interested in, so I abstained, which is unusual. If you want a quick, filling, comfort food kind of dining experience, then this fits the bill. You get what you pay for, and this restaurant is not expensive, it is a fair trade for the price, imo. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share this. The way this business treats its employees is extremely disappointing. It's clear that staff are undervalued, overworked, and spoken to with little respect. Watching people who are simply trying to do their jobs be treated poorly left a very negative impression on me as a customer. No matter how good the product or service might be, it's hard to support a place that doesn't value the people who keep it running. I have been eating at Vasileios for as long as they have been open. Always good food. I prefer take out and the newest menu item, chicken and brocolli alfredo lasagna is my new favorite. I like trying new restaurants and love Italian food. I wish I could give this place negative stars. I ordered the Spaghetti and a salad. I asked for unsweet tea with lemon. The unfriendly waitress/owner seemed put out having to serve me. Probably because I was by myself. I'm usually an over tipper, too bad she didn't even try. She brought two glasses of ice tea right away. That put out hard "I don't want to be bothered by you" vibes. Only one glass had a tiny slice of lemon on it. She brought the salad and bread sticks together. The pieces of the salad were cut too large to comfortably fit in my mouth and the bread sticks were cold. The sauce tasted like tomato sauce with a hint of oregano and lots of sugar. It was gross. When ordering the Spaghetti they charge you extra for things like Meat that should be included automatically. When the spaghetti came it was not good at all. I could buy a microwave spaghetti dinner at Walmart and enjoy it more. Remember the old cafeteria restaurants in K-Mart? This is about 25% as good as that, but with Italian Veneer. -4 stars from me. i ordered the italian sub with house made chips . it was so good. the chips were cooked perfectly crisp , and you have to try them with ranch dressing. the side of spanakopita was absolutely amazing and it was piping hot . I had the chance to go to Vaselieo's Italian Kitchen recently as we were staying in Charlotte for a few days. The place is definitely an economy styled family restaurant that keeps things cheap for the clientele. The decor is filled with plastic plants and kitschy ornaments, which is just fine. People inside were happy to be eating there, and the food was good. The price was right as well. We kept things simple and ordered a pizza with our usual toppings. Our server was very sweet, and kept things going for us. She also helped out in the parking lot because we managed to forget our leftovers as we were leaving... something distracted us as we were getting up and going to pay, and we left our leftover pizza right there on the table. She ran out with the pizza, and we were quite grateful for that! We are not ones to let leftover pizza go to waste! The pizza itself was properly cooked, and the crust was a good consistency, not getting soggy as the pizza cooled. It also held up the day after when we finished the pizza off for lunch. read more

The owners have a long-standing reputation in the town as being terrible to work for, and here they reinforce that reputation by spending money to have professionally printed (yet poorly designed) signs produced to shame the workers they mistreat and want to pay $2/hr. read more

I want to first say that I like Vasileio's. This review is from my last visit, but still 4 stars. The menu is so vast and I want to try a little bit of everything This particular visit I tried the chicken Marsala. This dish wasn't my favorite from them. I have had shrimp Alfredo, which is good. Lasagna, is okay. Spaghetti, is okay. My friend had a Philly cheesesteak, which they liked very much. The picture posted is of the chicken Marsala, which is served with pasta, and that was good. I believe the sauce was what went wrong with the flavor of the dish. The chicken had a soggy breading on it, which could have been ignored if the sauce was richer. Service has always been pretty good. This particular visit I picked up my order at the drive up window and the older lady that helped me was super nice! I've had one of the younger girls seem a little short with me before, but it wasn't a big deal. I was a little sad that I had asked for a cherry cheesecake cup and received strawberry instead. I've never eaten inside, but it seems to be a nice family friendly atmosphere. read more

We will not be returning. We have been frequent patrons of this restaurant but will not be returning due to the inappropriate behavior of the woman at the drive through window who takes the payment and then gives the order. As we drove to the drive through window as soon as I put my car window down, she began yelling at me nonstop. She would not even let me say anything. I couldn't even speak because she was yelling so much. After she angrily handed the order to me, she put her arms up in the air, turned around, and stormed off. This is terrible customer service and if she is upset or having a bad day she should not be taking it out on the customers. read more

Leaves much to be desired. Been curious about this place for some time and finally decided to give them a try since we were going to be in the area. Had a hair cut appointment at noon so we got a bit of late start and got there around 1:30. At my age, I no longer pay for a hair cut but it's more of a finders fee. Pulled into the parking lot and admired the Christmas Painting still on the windows. Gave a homey feel to the place. Walked into an otherwise empty lobby with one couple ahead of us. Turns out they were take out and waiting for their order. We stood there for awhile until someone finally came over to seat us. Restaurant looked to be about 1/3 full with multiple unbused tables waiting to be cleaned. There appeared to be only one server to service the entire dining area plus one manager and another person who would come out occasionally to clean I suspect. We got our menus and ordered our beverages which for both of us was tea although mine we half and half unsweetened and sweeten tea to get the sweetness level right. I was very excited about the menu because it was a mixture of Italian and Greek with Subs and Wraps as well. Spotted one of my favorites which was Moussaka but when I tried to order it, I got the deer in the headlights look that told me it was not available and I suspect lots of other dishes that require intensive preparation would not be as well. Big disappointment. I ended up ordering and Italian Sausage Parmesan Sub with side of Fries. My wife ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Wrap with a okra subed for the Fries. While we waited, our server brought out bread sticks with a marinara dipping sauce. My wife declined the bread but the server became very defensive and said that they were complementary and we did not have to pay for them. Not the issue. My wife is on a diet and has to limit what she eats and bread is big source of carbohydrates. If she wanted the bread, price would not have the issue. In the end, I ate the Break Sticks but found the Marinara Dipping Sauce to be devoid of flavor. Lunch came out and again the Marinara on the Sub had no taste of tang and did not add anything to the sandwich. Fries even though a nice presentation were not very good either and were actually hard and crunchy. My wife said her wrap was OK and did enjoy the Okra but other than that, nothing to write home about. In the end, a lot of other places we could have tried and will do so next time. read more

This is no exaggeration: you can get better Italian food from the frozen food section of any supermarket. I've tried Vasileio's twice, and on both occasions the food was unsatisfactory. The manicotti was small and dry. The alfredo sauce was as thick as paste you used as glue in elementary school. The chicken and the chicken alfredo-- I've had better shredded chicken from a can. The house salads are a joke. Low quality iceberg lettuce, unusually large slices of bell pepper, and a half dozen cherry tomatoes. The vegetables were fresh, but it was not a well put together salad. They charged me a 3% fee for using my debit card which according to Visa is not legal. Only credit card transactions can be charged a surcharge. According to the agreement they made with Visa the surcharge can Not be charged on a debit card transaction. When I got home and called and asked to speak with the owner the cashier lied to me and told me he was not there. When I left the restaurant 15 minutes ago he was standing next to my table as we ate our 80$ dinner. read more

We've ordered plenty of times and have always been pretty happy with the food. Tonight after driving 15 minutes to and 15 minutes from picking up our order we realized that all 3 of our Shrimp Scampi's had the consistency of gravy. To make it worse, there were bits of what looked like congealed fat. DISGUSTING!! We called to let them know and instead of believing us and refunding is over the phone, we were asked to bring back the disgusting food. After driving 15 minutes to discuss our issues, we only received a partial refund because we attempted to eat what was given to us. Hate to say it... but they lost a customer. My wife and I ate here tonight and enjoyed our meal! The complimentary breadsticks were fresh and tasty and my philly was great! My wife really enjoyed her calzone although a good portion of it had way more spinach than cheese or tomato.. the onion rings and special sauce are a nice change if you are tired of fries and the cheesecake is also outstanding! Maetre-D sat us down for 40 minutes with no service while those after us were being served so we got up and walked out... Easy fix, have the Maetre-D put the table number on a chalkboard so the servers know who's next. When the server takes the next customers order, they erase the table number and it prevents any animosity to the servers who are trying to do their job and get the most in tips...
