I recently had to stop into Agape Eye Care in Malta after my kiddo snapped the arm clean off their…read moreglasses. We do have a spare pair, but the prescription is older and not ideal, so I called Agape on Monday to see what could be done. I spoke with the optician, Gary, explained the situation, and asked if I could order a replacement arm. He let me know the glasses were still under warranty and said, "I'll just order a new frame." Sure enough, he called Wednesday to say it was in. I stopped by after work today and the place was busy. I told the receptionist why I was there and she immediately recognized me from previous visits. Gary was helping another customer, but he saw me, acknowledged me right away, and as soon as he finished up, he quickly swapped the lenses into the new frame and adjusted them so they fit perfectly. And this is not an anomaly. It's consistent with how they operate. I can think of at least two other times off the top of my head when they've stepped in and taken care of an issue without any drama. They just fix the problem. Agape isn't the closest eye care provider to me, but it is the best, and that's why I go there. I trust the advice and expertise I receive. In the past, at another practice, I bought expensive designer frames where you're paying mostly for the name. Some were good, some were not. I recall that on my first visit there ever, when I asked Gary what he recommended, he took the time to ask several thoughtful questions and suggested a brand I had never heard of before, Ovvo Optics. He was actually wearing a pair himself. They're incredibly lightweight yet strong. I've since purchased several pairs and honestly doubt I'll switch brands anytime soon. Interestingly, I later came across an article in a magazine, I believe it was Men's Health or Men's Journal, praising Ovvo frames and recommending them highly. Most of what I read, I had already learned from Gary or experienced firsthand, but it was reassuring to see that outside validation. Agape also carries a great selection of Oakley sunglasses. I've purchased a few prescription pairs there as well. Gary sat down with me and thoroughly explained the different lens options, what each was best suited for, and the pros and cons of each. I initially switched to Agape after my former eye care office was bought out and just wasn't the same afterward. The difference here is noticeable. The staff is friendly, professional, and you're treated well. It's not a large chain, it's a locally owned business, and that matters to me. I appreciate that they stand behind the brands they carry and truly know their products. You can see I've reviewed this place twice before. I usually don't write multiple reviews for the same business unless I've experienced a problem and am giving it another chance to see if things improve. That's not what's happening here. I'm not writing because I had an issue. I didn't. I'm writing because they consistently do such a good job that it's worth mentioning again. When a local business repeatedly earns your trust, people should know. For me, it's an easy choice. I'll continue going out of my way to support Agape Eye Care.

Dr. Gardner is also very patient with this particular patient (yes...moi). I have been having a difficult time locating contact lenses that I don't hate. I just can't find a brand that doesn't make me want to rip my face off after a few hours. Dr. Gardner is trying EVERYTHING to help me find a good pair of contact lenses. I really like that they use state of the art equipment and are really good at appointment reminders (texts AND emails). They're also great with cancellations; I recently had to reschedule an appointment and it was easy peasy. The facility is super clean and I almost never wait more than a couple of minutes for my appointment. They're efficient, too! Really nice neighborhood place to go for contact lenses, glasses and regular eye examinations.

The new doctor Dr Sweet deliberately falsified a physical finding of his examination of my eyes to…read morestate in his notes I was having a vitreal separation when in fact he found no such physical finding. what he told me was it was his conjecture that I might be having that condition not that there was a physical finding. I went to a retinal specialist immediately and he found NOTHING wrong with my eyes NOTHING. what is disturbing is Dr Garner refused to acknowledge this when I spoke with her.As a result I quit her practice. in truth my experience of her care had been excellent up to that juncture. However her refusal to acknowledge that her new doctor had falsified a physical finding and in doing so nedlessly frightening me and causing me the added expense of seeing a retinal expert. I am severely disappointed in her failure to acknowledge Dr Sweets unethical behavior and properly address it.

You just had to accept his word for gospel When I called the office on the weekend to get a refill on Simbrinza he called me back and started arguing with me and telling me he couldnt refill because i wasn't a patient anymore even though i described how i had gone back and set up any appointment with Glaucoma Consultants in Slingerlands as he had said to. but he was very combatitive and not at all wanting to listen to me. I have been a loyal Bay Optical customer, purchasing multiple pairs of glasses for my daughter…read more Unfortunately, but our most recent experience was so negative that we will not be returning. When we picked up my daughter's glasses at the Saratoga office in October 2023, the optician was rude and dismissive. The glasses didn't fit properly, so we returned for an adjustment. I specifically requested another staff member, who was more polite, but the glasses still slipped. On a third attempt, this time at the Glens Falls office, we again left with glasses that would not stay on my daughter's face. The far bigger issue came when I requested my daughter's pupillary distance (PD) measurement -- part of her patient record and something I am legally entitled to. I am aware that PD can be measured when new glasses are issued or taken at home, but that does not give them the right to withhold information that legally belongs to me when I requested it. For clarity: According to sections 29.1(b)(7) and 29.2(b) of the Rules of the Board of Regents and section 18 of the Public Health Law, providers must release this information upon request. The NYS Office of the Professions confirms this here: https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/ophthalmic-dispensing/frequently-asked-questions Despite citing the law and sending multiple emails, multiple phone calls, and even mailing a written request, Bay Optical refused to provide it for nearly two years. At one point I was even hung up on. They could have just given me the PD from 2023, but instead they gave me a copy of my daughter's 2017 prescription (which I never asked for) . With the help of the NYS Office of the Professions, I finally received the documented PD from Bay Optical. No one should have to fight this hard for basic information. Between the poor service, the unprofessional behavior, and the refusal to comply until NY state got involved, Bay Optical has lost our trust completely. I hope if anyone else asks for their record information and it gets denied, this review helps speed up the process for you. Do not get your glasses here. My frames cracked after only 5 months…read more I'm 74 yrs.old and not particularly tough on my glasses. I was cleaning them and noticed a crack. There is a 1 yr. warranty but you have to pay $40 to use the warranty, I've never heard of such a thing. I need to find someplace else to get my glasses. This was my first pair of glasses from Bay Optical. Lesson learned.
