We were greeted by owner Marlene, who is absolutely wonderful. We placed our order and got some fresh lemon water. I ordered the lunch special Chicken and Gyro plate, and he ordered the Lamb Kabob Plate. While we waited for the food, we chatted with Marlene, and we were given some baklava (love that stuff). My goodness, the aroma coming from my plate was so good. The meats were cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were just right. He told Marlene that was not his first choice for food, but this meal changed his mind. The pitas and sauces were delicious as well. The presentation is nice, and portion sizes are large. I brought some home. I feel so bad because I forgot to tip, which is crazy for us. But, this just means we have to return soon and give a large tip. Don't skip trying this place. This time, it was the opposite of last time--not so fatty, and not so flavorful either. Dry and insipid. The Sausage was mushy and strangely lacking in real flavor. And the goddamned Ribs were the same ineptly butchered mess we ran into in Naperville. Shards of Bones at the top of the cut. Slightly over-smoked/over-cooked as well. WTF? That much of the same criticism of Naperville was in play here made us think this is the way things are served at Mission BBQ and not an anomaly. A mention to the manager wouldn't help things. I will admit though, "coffee & hot sauce" were in parentheses. I didn't taste neither in this sandwich. Did I not understand the assignment? Was I supposed to order coffee and then put hot sauce in this sandwich. Regardless, the sandwich definitely hit the spot. Don't think I've ever had a sandwich with pastrami and eggs before. I've been missing out. The ciabatta bread was also very soft. Such a perfect bread for this sandwich. It also came with hash browns. They had a tasty seasoning on them. Salty, but tasty. They offered garlic aioli or ketchup with these. Ketchup is probably the way to go. Really difficult to earn with the aioli, the hash browns fall apart if you try to dip them in the aioli. I started off with their Top O' The Morning special Saint Patrick's cocktail (Titos, Curacao, and orange juice shaken and poured over ice). I really loved this drink. My hubby had a Margarita that was just delightful. Our appetizers were: Angry Shrimp (really delicious) shrimp with a spicy tomato garlic sauce. Served over polenta cake. Ahi Tuna Wanton (mango jicama salsa, avocado, and teriyaki sauce) This should be their signature appetizer).The presentation is impeccable. It appealed to our eyes before the 1st bite. And,the first bite, as well as the rest, was wonderful. We would gladly return here just for this. Our entrees were: Grilled Salmon with corn risotto, grilled asparagus, smoked tomato aioli.
