So this gym is very interesting for multiple reasons: it is like an oasis in a desert of poor surrounding gyms. For me the friendly staff, above average equipment and close proximity to my home warrant a score of 4 stars. However with the good comes the bad. Although this gym has generally intelligent gym clientele, there are some classic negative gym archetypes like "clueless teen," "hardo," and "girl who has way too much make-up / perfume to be inside of a gym." For me, if the average of gym-goers commit gym sins like not allowing others to work-in, taking up multiple pieces of equipment, lateral raises in front of the rack, etc., the overall score of the gym takes a hit. Great drop in. What did I get I was in Chicago for the weekend and decided to find a gym to workout one day. I was able to sign up for a one day class. I like how it is divided. There is a section for crossfit. My friend and I were able to be one the side and just use the equipments. This is only possible is there is no large classes going on. Environment I thought it was pretty nice place. I can see that parking get become an issue, seems like a small parking lot. Niceness of the staff The staff were friendly. They suggested that I download the app so that I can get the class free which was nice of them. Dollar I am not sure about the monthly fees and all. I only did a drop in and it was friendly. Yes? I would go again cause they have the crossfit equipments and I am able to use it without being part of a class. read more

So, here are my issues that my friends and I have experienced. I needed a gym close to home, so obviously.. vaunt. When I asked 4-6 of my friends their experiences with vaunt they all told me the SAME thing. 1) the hours suck for the price 2) they are mostly for classes. 3) it is far too expensive for what you get. 4) their guest policy is terrible. BUT me being an optimistic, i signed up anyways. WOW - DO I REGRET IT. So my first issue is, when i walked in to sign up It was very awkward and the staff was not helpful as they kept telling me they had no information available on classes or packets or pricing. UMMM OK? So a week later, i come back in for information and wait to speak with someone to hand me a paper that did not make sense to me and could not answer really any questions. Finally a manager is available and gives me a tour, goes over pricing , and tells me that guests can come in , just add them in on the vaunt app. So, for the convince of a two minute walk and availability to bring a guest in.. i signed up. The first time I tried to come in with a guest, i was told no such thing was allowed. Not even once. So, we had to leave. They said they had never heard of that. Also, when i signed up they told me i could pick a free class to try out, when i tried to schedule kick boxing class the person behind the desk told me that my only option is a free smoothie, no class was available. UMMM OK? SO. When i tried coming into the gym in the morning, all the machines were in use from the classes , when i went to go try to do free weights or use machines and had questions.. no one was available to help me understand any of the machines that i was not familiar with. For $50.00 a month and an extra $75.00 every 3 months ... this is a hard regret that I now have. Also all several of my friends have ended their memberships as well and we have all found far more accommodating gyms for 1/5 of the price. Vaunt. Never. Again. Basically the Manager saw a personal Facebook post I made about my frustrations with the gym, I did not tag the gym directly and all I did was ask for referrals for a gym that had some heavy bags. The manager Calls me THE NEXT Morning and tells me he's terminating my and my fiancé's membership for harassment . When my fiancé called the manager for an explanation because the account is in her name their conversation ended with him displaying his emotions over the phone shouting and swearing at my fiancé saying "we don't need your fucking money" etc before hanging up on her. She had to call back and ask for anyone else to help her out with a refund. He then created a false narrative on the spot that he has me on video swearing and being hostile to staff members and that I've been reported on multiple occasions. Not only am I the nicest guy but I've only been there four times since we signed up in Feb. lol. I provided my check in history and time stamps and demanded that they reveal this footage and they've completely ghosted my fiancé and I. It's been weeks. So I am warning you that you do not have freedom of speech or any PRIVACY here. I have brought this to the attention of the Clearing/Garfield ridge Facebook group and MANY people came forth about getting calls from the manager about fb posts and being called into his office for comments they've made. Do not take my word for it. It's a good gym and I'm not ripping the staff at all but the manager is a bit of a joke in my opinion and is very odd for seeing my personal Facebook post and taking offense to it the way he did. Not to mention the way he spoke to my fiancé and the spontaneous narrative of harassment he created. I can go on all day. YOU GET IT read more

Just started going here and have enjoyed really enjoyed my time here. Hours work well for me and it's location is very convenient. Has just the right amount of machines and is extremely clean and organized. My only complaint would be the monthly premium and initial downpayment. Definitely is worth it if you take advantage of it. read more

Dropped in here for a day workout since i was in the area. We got a free pass for the day, very nice employees& very clean gym. They have a wide variety of cardio equipment & tons of machines, cables& even a crossfit area. Get a protein shake when your done with your workout, this place is very well rounded! read more

I used this facility for a drop in CrossFit class. I loved the atmosphere - clean and welcoming. The class had a great coach, (whose name escapes me) who seemed to care about improvement in the athletes. I recently received a 60-minute massage at Vaunt Fitness. Audrey did a phenomenal job! She was kind right off the bat and asked multiple questions regarding what type of massage I was looking for. She used different lotions and oils and made me feel incredibly comfortable. The massage room at Vaunt is dimly lit and very relaxing as well, with a fireplace located near the massage table. Overall, my massage experience was amazing. I would highly recommend their massage therapist Audrey and will most definitely be returning. read more

The pros: Well maintained equipment, though a serious shortage of recumbent bikes (there are only two and they are usually in-use). Nice locker rooms. The facility is kept clean. Good hours of operation. The truth: This place was much better before Vaunt Fitness took over. Athletico was a gym with a mixed demographic of patrons - Young to old and plenty of familiar friendly faces. Now, the facility with its new *look*, seems to cater to the douchebag crowd. This crowd doesn't believe they need to wipe down equipment when they are done using it. They're entitled right, but mommy/daddy aren't there to clean up after them. The music is now ghetto in nature... Which is fine if you like rap/hip-hop - I do not, which is why I supply my own tunes via earbuds. The problem with this is the ghetto music is cranked up so loud that I am forced to listen to my music at unsafe levels - Thanks, Vaunt. I once asked if they could turn the music down. They said they would once the "class" is over. Really? So, because a class is running everyone else is subject to loud crappy music? You can play whatever you want - But it does not need to be that loud. This isn't a club, it's just a gym. read more

Cleanest gym I have been to and all the equipment is in working/great condition. The staff is very friendly and clean the equipment frequently. I gladly pay a higher, but reasonable, monthly fee just so I don't have to travel further or have to deal with dirty equipment at a planet or blast fitness. Plus, the new fitness app is a plus where I can scan in through my Apple Wallet. Keep up the good work, Vaunt! read more

I have been a member for many years since the gym had another owner. Vaunt has made many great upgrades since taking over ownership. Staff has always been nice and helpful. I've been a member at so many gyms over the years. Went to cheaper gyms but you get what you pay for. This is the cleanest gym I've ever been to. Not only that, the staff is amazing. Left my headphones on a bench right before closing last night, didn't realize it till 11:30pm which is well after closing. Sent a message to their Instagram account and receive a response minutes later saying they would message all the staff to look for them first thing in the morning. Got a call at 7:30am this morning that they had my headphones. read more

I canceled my membership end of July 2020. I was told that I had to physically come into the gym to cancel so that I could sign off on it. I did this. Since it was after the 15th of the month, I was told I would still need to pay for August 2020. I was okay with that and understood that it was their policy. September 1, 2020 comes along and my credit card is billed again $52.50. I called the manager "Maddie" multiple times throughout September and she kept telling me 5-7 days it would be removed. She took no responsibility for the charge and blamed it on their financial institution. It is now September 15 and I am furious because the charge has not been removed. I call Maddie back and she tells me it's probably MY bank that's taking so long. MY BANK!? After Multiple phone calls to Maddie the September 1st charged of $52.50 is removed September 18. October 1, 2020 comes along and I find that Vaunt took the money again from my credit card. This company is stealing from its customers and needs to be reported to the BBB. I called Maddie back Oct 1, 2020 and the young man on the phone told me she was late to work and wasn't in yet. I asked him if this was happening to everyone who attempts to cancel and he said "I can't speak of that." At this point I am exhausted. I called my bank and they were able to block Vaunt from stealing any more money in the future from my account and they will be disputing the Oct 1st 2020 charge for me. I refuse to go back and forth with Maddie again and her unprofessionalism. I can only imagine how much money this gym has stolen from people that canceled their membership and haven't bother to check their statements. If this happens to you please go through your bank and have them block the merchant as I did. I would not waste any time dealing with the manager. read more

Raised prices this year and now put in a yearly fee that was hidden in contract that no one seems to have. This used to be a nice clean place except no one seems to wipe down the equipment anymore probably because the wipe holders are usually empty and the crossfit members think they do not have to wipe off the rowers or treadmills. Vaunt wake up and see what is going on or is not going on! read more

Maybe put up some signs to remind people to wipe down the equipment after use, wear shirts with sleeves,don't sweat on the equipment, and do not take a break while sitting on the equipment and make a cell call!! read more

Clean, yet still smells like an old fashioned gym - but you will get used to it over time. Lou is great! Weight Equipment is standard. One huge drawback: while they have a good number of flat screens, you can not hear what is on the screens since Vaunt disabled the feature on the LifeFitness machines where you would plug in your headset; Vaunt recommends an app called Tunity, but I have not been able to get that App to work. Vaunt's wifi is hit or miss as well. I would like to rate it higher since the appearance is contemporary, but Vaunt's lack of attention to the LifeFitness machines causes it to loose a couple of stars. read more

That is the only gym close by so I decided to give it a try. It's expensive for no reason. Going there during the winter is a nightmare especially if you have kids that you wanna leave in a daycare. It's steamy hot in there, they have a floor fan to get some air but it's just making kids sick. I was there few times, my kids would end up having runny noses. Simple equipment, not too many machines... For what they charge, I really don't recommend it! read more
