This place has great customer service but I was not impressed with the "hair job" as I have better for a much lesser price... I did appreciate the being accommodating and taking care of their customers during this pandemic. I am curious if there's a price Duffy between the men's cut versus the women's... just felt a bit ripped off with the pricing for a trim that I ended up not feeling all that great with. Best haircut I ever had, I have curly hair that can be unmanageable and I usually just get blowouts to make it look good... I came to Vaza Salon and had a consultation with the owner Val... Who recommended a haircut that would restore my faith in curly hair. Needless to say, I made an appointment and she cut it dry like an artist and used great products, she also took the time to teach me how to style it, I left with gorgeous perfect spiral curls, beautifully layered and no frizz whatsoever. 2 weeks later the hair cut became even more beautiful and the curls always fall perfectly, I've been wearing my hair curly ever since and will skip the blow outs from now. I've been going to VaZa Salon for over 2 years-- truth be told, it's the longest that I have ever been loyal to a stylist. The staff is amazingly professional, organized, well trained, kind, and punctual. The atmosphere is relaxing and calming, from the changing rooms, to the waiting area to the shampoo BEDS. My daughters whole service was rushed with 3 people switching doing her hair. How am I supposed to tip when 3 young girls are experimenting with my daughters hair. Stuck up woman not one smile or hello was said except Emma at the front desk and a nice assistant Taylor (only one I tipped) It was over priced and no professional touched my daughters hair. The assistants were all over the place being ordered around by the "stylist". It's sad because I was expecting something so much different. All that was done was brushing her hair out in the sink which took WAY too long and then a heavy amount of conditioner I had to tell her to wash some out or the next day her hair would be a greaseball. The girls don't have curly hair so it makes sense that they don't know what their doing. Will never return. Get a $25 haircut somewhere else and watch "Manes by Mel" on YouTube for curl advice. I had high hopes after reading all the great reviews. I scheduled an appointment online and was booked with Val, so I was totally prepared to pay the premium price for the "Artistic Director/Owner". After seeing all the beautiful pictures on their Facebook and Instagram pages, I was excited. The salon is beautiful, judging by the other comments and their clientele, they do good work. Val was very nice and made a lot of recommendations, many of which I was already following (I research a lot online) and I appreciated my time with her; she gave me a quick dry cut to "even out my hair" and told me in about a year my hair would be where I want it. After my consultation with Val, I was lead away to an assistant who washed my hair and did the rest of the work. The beds where they wash your hair are very comfortable and the time spent washing my hair was nice. The assistant was very sweet, and very new, only there one month. She put a lot of product into my hair and used a diffuser for about 4 minutes and then put me under a hairdryer for about 20 minutes or so -- I have to admit, when she was prepping my hair, while it was wet, it looked cute, but when it was dry, I thought it looked disheveled and unfinished. I had clumps of messy strands that couldn't be touched, once my hair was dry (or risk frizz) and I was taken back by how "undone" my hair looked. Both the assistant and Val told me my hair looked great and I was trying hard to see what they were seeing, but I didn't get it. Honestly, I thought my hair looked better when I got there, then when I left. I did like the product line that they used though (InnerSense) and I bought the curl cream and the gel to use at home, but I won't be a regular customer. I prefer to have my curls a little looser and putting a ton of product and drying it in clumps to my head wasn't a good look for me, and definitely not something I want to repeat, particularly when paying a premium for the "Artistic Director/Owner" and getting passed off to an assistant. I wanted to leave here feeling fabulous and looking good. One of my co-workers commented that she liked my hair better when I did it myself and that I looked like I'd been caught in a downpour after coming out of the salon! I followed my stylist here as she is the only one who is certified to cut curly hair. Now my entire family goes (5) and they use different stylist depending on the type of hair they have. Even my husband who had only had his hair cut in Southampton loves the cut he gets from Amanda. Val the owner is so talented with my curly hair I cant say enough good things about her. Rachel who set my hair is the best, curly hair can be tricky but she is just wonderful. The setting, tranquility, music, tea, drinks, snacks make for a very relaxing experience. I would never go to any other salon. Lastly I feel the level of professionalism is of the highest level I have seen even compared to NYC salons. A friend had high recommended this salon and as a curly girl, I thought I should give it a try, even though it is almost an hour drive for me. When I arrived, I had to fil out a form repeating the information I hat to fill out online. I then met with Val who spent about 2 minutes looking at my hair and asking me how much time I am willing to spend in the morning. So far so good. Then, she walked away to spend time with another client. She came back about 5-7 minutes later, spent about 5 minutes cutting my hair, and then someone came over to wash my hair. Val rattled off instructions to wash and put various products in my hair and off I went. The entire rest of my appointment was spent putting in product. The woman I had been pawned off on was obviously new and didn't really know what she was doing. She was corrected by someone else on how to put in clips. Val came over at one point and had her rewash, reproduct and reclip myhair because my hair was just frizzing up. I sat under a dryer for 20 minutes and then Val returned and snipped 2 curls and put more product in my hair. When I was done I didn't even get shown the back of my hair. All in all, the haircut was only ok. I was then pushed to buy lots of products and make an appointment to come back. I think that the haircut was rushed and the service was inattentive. VaZa Salon is the best for a fabulous dry curly cut and color. I was a complete mess with unhealthy coily, frizzy, damaged hair. I was coming off of years of using Keratin treatments, blow drying and the cut just wasn't right for coily, kinky hair. Val knew exactly what to do. I followed her recommendations and it was an immediate improvement. I stuck with her directives and after a year of using different products, I actually LOVE my hair now. She gently suggested over this past year that my hair would look even better if she colored it. I had grays in the back, that I would routinely miss as I was doing it myself. My daughter's wedding was coming up and she again gently and with much tact offered to color my hair. She took the time to actually video the back of my head with her cell phone and showed it to me!! I instantly saw what she meant and had her color it. PERFECTION!! Val is amazing and her staff is amazing. They're friendly, accommodating and the salon itself is spotless. The wash bar has couches where you can lay down while they wash and massage your head. I can't say enough great things about this salon. I never write reviews but had to at this point. I followed my stylist to this salon despite an hour round trip. I purchased shampoo and conditioner at my stylist's recommendation. A few hours later I checked emails, and noticed an email from the salon, sent during the time I was there, offering a promotion. The (high priced) products I had bought came with a free travel size, starting that day and running for a few weeks. I called the salon, explained, and asked them to hold one for me until I was in for the next appointment I had already made. They said no! Even though I had the long drive, purchased the products required within the time frame, and THEY had made the mistake by not giving it to me in the first place. The reason? You have to pick it up during the promotion days. "That's the way we do it". Zero warmth. Zero customer service. Shortly thereafter, I received a customer satisfaction survey, which I completed with a description of this incident, hoping someone would reach out to me. Nothing. I desperately did not want to switch stylists but certainly didn't want to support a business that mistreated me, so I went for a cut when due and spoke to my stylist. She went back to the manager to tell her a client would like to speak to her. I waited for a while after I was done but she never came out so I left. Hoped I'd get a call but didn't. Filled out a second survey later....again nothing. Did not go back after that and still hoped that I'd get a call when they noticed...but no. Asked to be unsubscribed from their email list. So now I have a new salon. But today, the cherry on top...... 7/31, my birthday, I receive a birthday discount email offer from Vaza, good any day during my birthday month. So it's good for one day. If someone with an interest wanted to use it and called to say the timing of her birthday and when the email was sent limited her to one day, I suppose the response would be.....that's the way we do it. EDIT: After my original review, VaZa contacted me to offer to redo my haircut with a different stylist. Amanda seemed to understand my hair better, gave me a really nice scalp massage while shampooing (which didn't happen with the first stylist), and gave me an amazing blowout at the end. My hair is still not quite what I had first envisioned, but Amanda thinks by the time of my next cut a few months from now it will be. ----- I had a pleasant experience while there (friendly staff, nice space) but in the end I'm not very happy with my haircut. I was looking for my bob to angle slightly down in front to give me better lines, but it looks longer in the back. When I pointed that out while there, the hairdressers said it was because my hair is thick at the back (which is true) and they proceeded to thin it out. The problem is they used a technique that drags the scissors against the hair rather than point cutting and my hair just doesn't respond well to that. My hair ends up looking messy most days. I'm not sure if I'll risk going back even though the salon is right down the street from my house. read more

I tried several salons & stylists in my area but nothing clicked until I had my first appointment at VaZa Salon. First off, Sally at reception is warm, hilarious, full of amazing information, and a beautiful person. Jocyline-Joss-washed, conditioned, rinsed & repeated like a licensed massage therapist & has a great story for almost every situation. But I really went there to find a colorist & stylist to perfect my white bleached hair & have it cut to my very specific request. Anastasia listened & helped me create an even better cut & her coloring skills are off the charts. She won't quit until I'm happy & is as funny & sassy as she is talented. We hit it off immediately & I'm pretty sure I would be looking like a hot mess without her. The entire experience is the 'highlight' of my month & they have amazing products as well. After reading all these great reviews I had to go check it out myself! I've been looking for a great salon ever since my stylist moved away. The moment I walked in I was greeted I felt like the staff was very attentive the entire time I was there. The salon is gorgeous and clean! The shampoo BEDS are so comfortable. The whole experience was very relaxing and pleasant. My hair is blonde w/ highlights and medium to long length. They recommended a conditioning treatment (Olaplex) which I believe has made a huge difference. My hair is still very smooth and shiny. Val gave me a lot of layers so, I hair had a great shape, stayed long but felt much lighter. Usually when switching stylists it can be bit nerve racking but everyone, especially Val was very confident and professional. I will absolutely be coming back !! I found my way to Val at VaZa after stopping a stranger in the street to ask where she'd gotten her fantastic curly cut. When the time came to grow out my super short hair, I decided to give Val a try. I've grown my hair out a couple of times, and this was by far the easiest. Haven't been to a salon in westchester in a long time. Googled hair salons near Ossining, a few places came up & then VaZa. BEST decision I've made for my hair. Not only is the salon 5 minutes from home, but I have very curly hair which I wear straight. Too straight most of the time to the point I seared my ends. My 1st appointment was awesome, loved the whole experience & my hair was fab - freshly trimmed & moisturized. My stylist is Maria & I've been trying to grow my hair out so she went easy with trimming more than my split ends. 2 weeks later, my 2nd time around, I decided to get an actual hair cut in order to save my hair... I have been struggling with my curly hair for years as every salon seems to only cut hair wet and straight. So after much research I found VaZa Salon. Jocelyn was my stylist and listened carefully to what look I was trying to achieve. She was patient, thorough, skilled and left me feeling great about the health of my hair and the look! She was even kind enough to color my roots as I had not schedule additional time to do so. What incredible service. Nicole at the front desk offered to put more money in my meter for me...no one does that in Manhattan! CURLY GIRLS! This one is for you. So this is a very delayed review, I rarely write reviews but I have talked about the cut I got here for over a year so I really feel I owe it to my fellow curly girls to share this. If you are coming in here and expecting to get a Devachan (Deva) cut, don't be cheap...just spend the money to go to the real Devachan Salon in White Plains or one of the NYC locations. While Vaza stylist do go through a course that is sponsored by Devachan, the results are not even close to comparable since the training is much more limited. I came in and asked to get a TRIM, in my world that means clean up my ends and shape where needed, my hair was in relatively good condition as I had been trying to grow it out to donate. By time I walked out of there, my hair that came to my belly button when pulled straight now came mid-breast (about 6-7 inches shorter)and 1/2 of it was unstyled because my stylist didn't distribute the hair products well. Now you would think I would notice how short it had gotten as it was happening right? Not so much because it went off so little at a time I didn't think it was going to add up to that big of a chop. The 2nd thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the fact that when I came in they combed my hair out while it was dry (this I expected since a DevaCut is done dry) But then once they were done combing it they wanted to take a picture. Any girl with curly hair knows that this means my hair looked pretty much the worst it possibly could look and was not a true reflection of the "before" status of my hair. Obviously they wanted another picture once they were done with everything at which point they informed they would use on their website and social media...I declined (as much as I love being made to look like a Garnier Fructis commercial for friz control I was not feeling it) *at the time of writing this there is a pretty legit example of this with someone else available in the photos that was posted by the salon* I'm pretty positive they knew I walked out of there unhappy because I received several calls in the days following to check in. I couldn't bring myself to answer because I had nothing positive to say her and unless they had a magical way of putting my hair back on my head there was nothing they could do to help. Those are my gripes about the place. If you don't have Curly hair I would have no problem recommending them as you don't face the same challenges. The Salon is beautiful! I loved the atmosphere, almost everyone was very pleasant (aside from the girl who made me feel like I was stealing something when I was getting a robe out of the closet my stylist told me to grab) AND as a bonus...they'll make you a cappuccino while you get your cut. After moving from California I waited far too long to get a professional haircut, mostly for the fear of a bad hair cut. I met Amanda about a year ago, made an appointment, and haven't looked back. Amanda is a great stylist and I highly recommend her, however, you cannot go wrong with any of the stylists at Vaza Salon. They are continually striving to get better and make it a priority to learn new techniques to better serve their clients. The staff is extremely professional and accommodating! I had my appointment months ago but am still upset about the experience. I just had my hair done again yesterday by another salon and the satisfaction level is day and night. First of all, I told the stylist how I wanted my bangs and she said, "Well you have a narrow forehead, I suggest cutting them this way..." and I have worn my bangs like that my whole life...I shrugged and said as long as she didn't "fringe" them. She fringed them. The bangs looked horrible. The hard sell on the products and the ridiculous "instructions" on how to wash and dry my hair was also ridiculous. I don't need to be told how to wash and dry my hair. I have NO time in the morning to be twisting it the way he suggested and took an eternally long time to do. The hair washer was just the worst. I was getting so anxious listening to him. Not relaxing at all. I couldn't wait to get out of there and though I made a second appt (everything was such a hard sell, I knew I just better make one and then run), I had no intention of going back. The salon is truly beautiful and I was very impressed with the décor. Customer service and actual hair style is what I really come for and that was truly horrible. I felt a) not listened to (when I say how I want my bangs cut, DON'T tell me to do them another way. when I say, "Don't FRINGE, it means don't fringe!" when I say I don't want to buy NO POO - let it BE) and b) completely inconvenienced (I will spend hours on a hair style appointment when I feel pampered, not when I feel exasperated). read more

Everyone from the sweet woman at the front desk, to the lovely lady who washed my hair (I believe her name was Kiara), to Val herself, all made me feel right at home. Val is one of the sweetest, most knowledgeable hairstylists I have ever met with. Both her and Kiara taught me a lot about all of the things I've been doing to my hair that weren't healthy (I get coconut oil happy) and all of the ways I could nurse my hair back to health and give it the nourishment that's needed. Came in for a blow out, the stylist I had my appointment with for some reason wasn't able to come in so Nancy did my hair instead and it came out great! The salon was nice and clean. And very convenient to have the free parking right across the street too! I needed some new shampoo & conditioner since I was having issues with my water at home that was leaving my hair with a residue, the owner was really helpful with recommending certain products use. The product she recommended was amazing and completely fixed the issues I was having with my hair! (Innersense pure harmony shampoo, daily radiance conditioner, & the harmonic healing oil scalp treatment) the pricing for all the services seemed fair too. Every time I come to this salon I regret it. I have been here 3 times, basically once every 2 years and I think to myself maybe next time I'll like it so I go back. It's such a nightmare coming here. Last time & this time I was called to move my appointment back 30 minutes- I am not sure if this is due to a previous client being late or the hairdresser getting behind but this time it really threw my day off. I was called a few minutes before I was supposed to leave and asked to move my appt from 11 to 11:30, got there at 11:20 and sat in my car for 20 minutes before I called and complained. Even once I got inside the stylist didn't greet me for another 10-15 minutes essentially starting my appointment closer to 12. Maria was my stylist this time (last time I had Lauren I thought she was so flaky and fake , barely spent any time with me and kept sending her assist to basically take care of me). Maria was friendly & nice but she had straight hair & didn't seem to know much about how to make recommendations to me on how to manage my curly hair better (too dry, breakage, and knotting, hair products and claimed I had high porosity hair when I have low). She also cut my hair WAAAY shorter than I asked for. I did like how she showed me how to we my hair and run the products through while she was styling it. What I didn't like was that I had my neck hanging over a sink for 35! minutes and was so uncomfortable after a while. What are these girls thinking to have your neck hanging like that for so long. Also realistically who has that much time to do their hair in the morning or use the amount (much too much) of products. She put so much stuff in my hair it hasn't move for 2 days. I did have 2 cleaning treatments done (no dyes) which is why I was in the salon so long but I still don't understand why this ended up being a 3 hour visit. I left before my hair was fully dry as I was over sitting there. I just can't fathom coming here any longer. read more

I was going to a different salon for a long time and ended up getting awful coloring and was very unhappy. However, being there for so long made it hard to leave and I didn't know how bad I had it. I reached out to Val on Instagram after seeing some amazing pictures of balayage she does at her salon. Val was so quick to get me in and have an appointment to fix my bad coloring. At VaZa, Val was so welcoming and warm, I just knew I was finally in good hands and didn't know a salon experience could be this great! She's an amazing artist. Val worked with me to transition my hair from bad foil lines and color over many sessions (while still making honest and good decisions for what was best and healthiest for my hair) to process my hair to exactly where I've wanted the color to be! I couldn't be any happier. Val continues to recommend great products for my hair and treatments to make my hair look the what it can! The salon environment is so beautiful and relaxing. I feel comfortable in my natural curls :) Artistic Director Val Tana introduced me to the Deva Curl hair products, from shampoo and conditioner to gels and curl refreshers. I refuse to use anything but these products. The great thing is that as they use these products in your hair they explain how to use them and how to style your hair to reach maximum curl potential. The curly cut that they used for my hair made my curls even better. There is more bounce and the curls are more defined. I was nervous because I didn't know how I felt about a dry cut but it came out beautifully. I am now proud to call myself a Curly Girl and suggest any other Curly Girls to see these curl experts. The wash beds make the experience very relaxing as well. I have always experienced neck cramps at other salons while getting my hair washed. At VaZa the experience of getting my hair washed is so relaxing that I never want to get off the bed. You just lie down on the bed and relax as they give the best hair washing experience. The whole experience at the salon itself is relaxing. The people who work there are very nice and caring. They offer water, tea, and coffee as well which makes it feel homey. The ambiance is relaxing all around. Since I was so happy with my curly cut and set, I have continued to go back for a routine hair cut. Recently I decided to trust the Artistic Director's advice and have my hair lightened. My natural hair color is a dark brown with only one dimension. No natural highlights to add to the color. I have never dyed my hair in my 22 years of life so I was apprehensive at first, but I knew that Val would not lead me in the wrong direction. I went in to the salon to have Balayage done to my hair. It is different from getting high lights. It doesn't use foils and it is "painted" on instead of being put on as streaks. When I took my first look in the mirror I was blown away. It was lighter than my natural color but it looked sun kissed and natural. I receive compliments everyday and people who didn't know me before think that it is my natural color. Since I was nervous about not looking natural, this was such a relief to me. I absolutely love it. Now that I have had multiple great experiences from this salon, I will never trust anyone else with my hair. I always feel relaxed which is a change because in the past I was always apprehensive about hair cuts. Now I don't have anything to worry about. I have found my hair salon and I will never cheat on them with any other salon. I highly suggest others to try them out. read more

A little over a month ago, I moved from Brooklyn to CT and I had been searching months in advance for a hairstylist in our new town. After asking around to countless people and reading review after review, I came up empty handed. Nothing seemed great and hair isn't something I can settle on. It was then that I remembered seeing amazing photos of color and cuts on FB. Sure enough, it was through a friend and I booked an appointment right away. I had my hair cut and colored with Amanda and she is an absolute angel. My hair hadn't been cut or colored in 6 moths, so I showed up looking like a mess. Not only was the salon beautiful and comfortable (and very well thought out), but the service was unbelievable. Every person there was gracious and inviting, no attitudes here. The shampoo chairs....oh my God. The shampoo chairs. That part of the service should be a separate service you can book. It's relaxing and like everything else they do at Vaza, time and care is given to this portion of the service. And finally, the cut and color by Amanda: it's the best my hair has ever looked. I wanted subtle highlights and my roots needed a touch-up. She took ample time to ask me for pictures of what I liked and asked how I style my hair, etc. In the end, she gave me something even better than I could have imagined! And she told me what to do to care for it and gave some great styling tips. She actually educated me on hair care which I so appreciate! I wasn't rushed, I was cared for. And on top of that, I noticed that when she dried my hair, she took so much care to treat it well. None of the 'smoke' that so many salons claim is steam (it's not) when they are frying your hair to rush through a blow dry. No way. I left this salon feeling the best I have felt in a long time. So yes, I drive here from CT to get my hair done, because it's worth it! These ladies are amazing. read more

A waste of time and money. This salon has many good reviews, however our experience was horrible. I should have turned and left when the receptionist presented us with a Barbi-esq face, plastic, fake smile and devoid of emotion. The wait for a chair was about fifteen minutes despite very few clients in the salon. When we arrived at the stylist station we were scolded for not having come with hair prewashed, who does that? Is that not the point of going to a salon, to have them wash the hair? I had only made the appointment the day before and was expected to read an email they sent much later in the day. I should have been told to come with washed hair when the appointment was made. The stylist huffed and proceeded to style my friends hair. I waited in the very small waiting area. After 45 minutes I went to check on my friend, she was under a dryer with what seemed to be a whole bottle of product. I took the seat at the station next to her and waited another 20 minutes for the dryer to finish. When that was finally done a technician came over, sprayed some stuff on her hands and tried to shake out my friends hair. This did not work. The guy who originally scolded us came over to do the final check. He poopoo'd about how curly her hair was and had I ever seen it so curly, as if he had created a masterpiece. It was hideous! I could not hold my tongue and said, "with out all that product she has a beautiful mane of curly hair." The attitude received was not worth the $125 (before tip) fee. I did not stay to watch the cut but I saw no difference in the hours following I noticed no difference. I say hours because as soon as my friend got home, she washed her hair to clean off the product. read more

I took a chance coming here after moving to the area and I am SO happy I did. Cornelio is the best - I have now had two fantastic haircuts with him and will definitely be back. The salon itself is beautiful and comfortable, and all of the staff members are very nice and welcoming. Also, they have the most comfortable set up at the hair wash station - you lie flat on this super comfortable bed/chair thing rather than sitting in a chair and craning your neck to hang into a sink. So much nicer! I highly recommend this salon! read more

VaZa salon is truly one of a kind. I've been a customer for two years, and the service exceeds my expectations every time. Val Tana is the most gifted hair stylist and colorist I've ever met - I'm so glad I found her! She knows exactly what to do on Day 1, so that my hair still looks amazing on Day 90. I've even had people ask me if I "just got my hair done", when I'm due for another appointment! I feel great every day. All of the staff at VaZa are truly spectacular.
