Cat is in distress been waiting over 20 mins
    Josette L.

Currently waiting still for my cat to be even checked in. Crazy that we pay the insurance and yet we can almost never bring them in on emergency (yet this is why we pay for the insurance and the hospital) there is only ever one person and whenever we ask the staff why they always make sure to remind us that they are constantly understaffed or short on doctors or technicians. When we have brought our dogs in before and they are immensely thirsty and stressed from the hours they have to stay tucked in a cage without food and water. At times we've done a drop off at 930 and not been allowed to pick them up until 4 pm when they are ready and yet at times they are only coming in for shots. Something must be done to insure the health and safety of these animals.

On their system it said 3:00, but on our end it said 3:30.

Take your fur baby somewhere else. I've been holding off on a review because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But today was just a super bummer on top of everything else that's wrong with this location. 1. We were scheduled for an in-person comprehensive exam with Dr. Hudson at 3:30 PM. We arrived and were told that we were 35 minutes late and that he couldn't see us anymore. I confirmed with them that it said 3:30 in my Banfield portal, and I got several calls confirming it was 3:30 (see voicemail transcript and screenshot). We were told it was different on their system (3:00, with no explanation on how it could have gone wrong), then the girl went to the back to see if Dr. Hudson could still see us, but she came back and said he couldn't. We took time off of work, so this was a major bummer. Additionally, the front team didn't seem to care how bummed out we were. It worked out because I was really worried about our pup seeing Dr. Hudson -- he was careless with our other dog. Dr. K was usually our go-to person, but she left (sad cause she was so great!) and would give Dr. Hudson another try since we're paying monthly -- alas, we didn't get to see him. But I'll take that as a sign from the universe! 2. It takes forever to book with them. They don't pick up their phones, and the Banfield website is never up-to-date, which is why the former story sucks even more cause we waited for a while. 3. One time, I brought my other dog to get his teeth cleaned (he went under), and when I got him back, his teeth looked pretty much the same. I also paid to get his nails trimmed while he was out, and he returned exactly the same. 4. When we used to do their drop-off during the pandemic, I would pick up our pup, and he would be SO thirsty (and I saw this in other reviews as well), which leads me to believe they don't give them water for hours. After going to a local vet, I learned that compressive exams do not take 1/2 a day. This concerned me, so I ultimately stopped bringing him in. We won't renew our subscription and will continue to go elsewhere while still paying for our membership. That is how much we are over Banfield.

My puppy after coming back from the emergency surgery to remove the abscess brought on by dirty utensils used for his neutering.
    Aaron G.

Never again. We signed our puppy up for a coverage plan with them and have come to royally regret that decision. After his neutering procedure performed by Dr. Gilman complications arose. His groin area was swollen to over 5 times its normal size so we dropped him off to be checked. Later that day we received a phone call from the vet saying he has no idea what it could possibly be and has never seen anything like this before. Next day we took him to get a second opinion and after a very brief inspection and swab it was determined he had a very bad bacterial infection and surgery was immediately needed My puppy is 7 months old,why wasn't he given antibiotics after the initial surgery? How in the world could a vet never have seen a bacterial infection or not know what it was in the very least? Now I'm left to pay an expensive emergency surgery because antibiotics weren't thought to be prescribed and overall lack of knowledge. Oh but charge us $40 to inject anti-inflammatory and tell us to check back in a few weeks... good f-ing idea. Update: After leaving this initial review we called the phone number provided in the response. They told us things would be looked at and that they would follow up with more information. Well we haven't heard back from them for some time now however thankfully we are in contact with a lawyer and we are taking legal action against banfield for the maltreatment and overall horrific experience our puppy as well as us endured.

From check-in, to the in-room care, to the vet visit -- everything was top notch. Dr. Maheas took the time to go over all of my concerns, and as a slightly freaked-out dog dad, I had plenty. She created a simple plan, explained everything clearly, and made sure I felt comfortable with the next steps. The staff was also great when going over pricing options. The no-pressure approach was so refreshing. Clear prices, fair prices, and no surprises -- which is rare and very appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful experience on what could have been a very stressful day. Safe to say we've found our new vet for Hugo!

The staff is beyond friendly, and the doctors are attentive, thorough, and genuinely caring. You never feel rushed, and it's clear they truly prioritize the well-being of the animals. Free parking right outside is also a big plus and makes visits much easier. Prices are definitely on the higher end, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. I'm ok to spend the extra money knowing my pets are being looked after with such care and professionalism. The only downside is the limited hours. For anyone working a standard 9-5 job, it can be challenging to find an appointment time that fits without taking time off work. And they charge you $50 if you don't show up or if you're over 10/15 minutes late.

A few months had gone by and Obi had passed away due to the heart condition. They contacted me for a follow up appointment and I told them the news. They sent out a signed card which I thought was so thoughtful considering he was almost a patient. I was really touched by this kind and simple gesture. I took her to a real dentist and by that time it was too late - oral melanoma - options? No longer possible to melon ball it out- now only a gruesome partial jaw removal- not putting her through that. We said goodbye to our baby on May 5. This was so disappointing that the issue was handled in a casual manner, especially since it is common knowledge that golden retrievers have high instances of melanoma of the mouth. No recommendation to see a real board certified dentist was made. I do not recommend bringing your dog here. It is not the same team --- the wonderful Dr. Poulter is not there. Amazing Ashley is not there. The Docs featured on the site have left and I just get the feeling that VCA is cycling people in and out to meet demand. I brought my two rabbits in for a visit and ended up being charged for services that were never clearly explained or approved beforehand. One charge was $22.50 for "brushing out poop" from one of my rabbits, which is something I easily could have done at home. I wasn't given any notice that this would be a separate service or cost. They also added a "wound service" charge, which confused me even more. When I asked what it was for, they said they think one of the rabbits might have a soft spot and suggested adding softer padding in the bedding area--but they also said they weren't sure and that nothing else needed to be done right now. It didn't make sense to charge for a wound service when there wasn't a confirmed issue or treatment. My main concern is the lack of transparency. If a clinic plans to perform additional services or add charges, they should explain them and get approval before doing them. Pet care is already expensive, and clients deserve to know what they're being billed for. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling like unnecessary services were added without my consent therefore we will not be returning.

Earlier that day, he had already been seen by my regular veterinarian, where bloodwork was done. Since they couldn't determine the cause of his illness, they recommended I take him to an urgent care facility. The only reason they referred me was because they did not have the equipment to perform X-rays or an ultrasound. They had already done everything they could at their clinic and wanted my dog to receive the advanced imaging he needed. When I arrived around 12:00 PM, the receptionist told me the wait would be about two hours. I completely understood because it's an urgent care, and I appreciated that they took my dog into the treatment area. I assumed he would at least receive IV fluids to keep him hydrated while we waited, especially because I specifically told the receptionist he wasn't eating, was weak, and needed an IV. I was willing to pay for whatever treatment he needed. As the hours passed, I repeatedly asked for updates. Around 3:00 PM, then again at 5:00 PM, I was told my dog was doing fine and that I would be seen soon. Finally, at about 7:00 PM, we were taken into an exam room. The veterinarian came in and immediately asked what was wrong with my dog. I was surprised because it seemed she hadn't been briefed on why we were there. I had to explain everything from the beginning while feeling overwhelmed after waiting seven hours. When I asked if my dog had been receiving IV fluids during that time, I was shocked to learn that he had not received any IV treatment at all. That was extremely upsetting because I believed he was at least being kept hydrated while waiting. After briefly reviewing the bloodwork from my regular veterinarian, the doctor told me my dog "might have leukemia (CANCER)" before performing any imaging, such as X-rays or an ultrasound. Hearing that was heartbreaking. She then recommended additional testing, including more bloodwork, X-rays, an ultrasound, and other diagnostics, with an estimated cost of around $12,000 just to determine what was wrong. I understand that diagnostics are important and that emergency veterinary medicine is expensive. However, after the lack of communication, the seven-hour wait without IV fluids, and hearing such a serious possibility mentioned before additional testing was done, I no longer felt confident continuing care there. I decided to take my dog home. Over the next two days, I focused on keeping him hydrated, monitored him closely, gently massaged his abdomen, and followed supportive care at home. Thankfully, he eventually passed a large mango pit in his stool. Once it came out, he quickly improved and made a full recovery. He did not have cancer. What scares me the most is thinking about how many pet owners may feel pressured into making heartbreaking decisions because of an initial possible diagnosis or because they simply can't afford the recommended costs. I kept thinking that could have been me. If I had accepted that my dog might have cancer without seeking another opinion or waiting for additional answers, I might have made a decision I would have regretted forever. Thankfully, in my dog's case, that wasn't what was wrong. Looking back, I understand that an X-ray may have helped identify the obstruction, and that is exactly why my regular veterinarian referred me there--they did not have the equipment to perform those tests. However, my experience left me feeling that communication was poor, my concerns were not taken seriously, and my dog waited far too long without the supportive care I believed he would receive. This was my personal experience, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this facility based on how my dog and I were treated. I truly hope no other family has to go through what we experienced.

This is a review I didn't expect to be making and am very disappointed by my experience here today…read more First off, I just want to say, I've had really great experiences with the vet techs/staff. I've also had an okay experience with the vet. I'm not exactly sure what happened tonight, but just pure disorganization for sure. I first came here last Monday. My dog had some sort of large wound and raised bump on his paw. It wouldn't go away. My schedule is pretty inflexible so it's hard to find a vet that sees pets after normal business hours and doesn't charge an emergency fee. I stumbled upon HQPC on Yelp and it had great reviews. I called and was able to get a same day appointment. I spoke to Jay at that time and she was lovely. I came in at my appointment time, was seen right away and was helped by Angel and another vet tech or employee. I didn't get her name but she has tattoos. Both her and Angel were so kind and lovely. Dr. Amini was really helpful too! I left ready to leave a 5 star review, but just didn't have the time to. I came back today (Monday) as my pup wasn't really improving. I was happy to come back since I had such a great experience last week. I made a same day appointment at 7:45pm. I arrived 5 minutes late (oops), though that didn't even matter. I waited about 25 min in the waiting room. Once we got checked in, I waited another 25 minutes in the medical room. Dr. Amini came in for approximately 3 minutes, said he wanted to do a cytology and a vet tech will be in to help me. Great! Someone came in to help me sign the forms for the $500 bill. And then I waited and waited for another 25 minutes. Theres also some time unaccounted for so I honestly probably underestimated the time too. But I was here about 1.5 hours, if not more. Needless to say, I left. Michelle, who helped me out in the front to check out was very kind and understanding. She explained that Dr. Amini was running behind due to a surgery. I totally understand and please please triage and put more urgent pets before mine! But there was no communication of this at all. Just waiting and waiting. Dr. Amini was literally only in the room with us for 3 minutes. Michelle said she wouldn't charge me, which was nice. But I wasted almost 2 hours and nothing was done with my pup. I'm overall, just really disappointed with my experience.
