Odd doctors, but good enough, I guess. Not clean though. Place smells a bit like poop and that's understandable, I guess. This clinic is a bit expensive considering they're in the middle of rough and tumble, blue collar Kankakee. I had the misfortune of getting the older veterinarian - Dr. G. She has sort of a bad attitude. She seems to believe she is some sort of deity, which is common among medical practitioners which I find funny. She sort of struck me as mediocre as far as her knowledge is concerned. Not much by way of customer service. I nicknamed her Dr. Lurch because, well, she comes across that way. Word of advice, Dr. G. Don't treat your clients as if they're stupid. Just because we're in Kankakee doesn't mean we're not intelligent. And please do not poke fun at your clients where they can hear you. This was our 1st experience with this particular vet, we were going to the Vet doctor on Skyler Ave at 1st. When I tell you it's like night and day. From my 1st encounter with the receptionist giving me information on boarding our dog Apollo, she was the nicest most professional lady I've spoken to honestly all of the ladies I spoke to were. . Very informational and patient. My husband took our dog there today and came home and told me how great the experience was. They had treats there it was super clean facility and my dog actually let them feed him treats while the dr checked him out. Sent him home with a goodie bag and everything. I am happy to write this review because everyone needs to go here. They are very affordable as well. The place on Skyler or Schuler however it's spelt SUCKS. I'm glad to refer VA West for all your fur babies needs!!!! We found our new doggie docter!!! read more

If your dog suffers from seizures/epilepsy, they don't care. They just want you in there for an 80 dollar blood test so they can make sure your dog is safe to continue the medication.... which they cut off, allowing your dog to have a possibly fatal seizure. The place can't handle their workload, either. When I first came there, they messed up my dogs' names, my name, took 3 calls to straighten it out. They didn't fill prescriptions when they said they would, and I had to call several times and return to the pharmacy several times, wait in line, still no prescription... finally having to rely on my dog-sitter to pick up the medication for me. My entire experience there has been awful. Most of the receptionists are rude and unhelpful. I'm also very underwhelmed by Dr. Goodpasture. I guess I was spoiled by the last vet I went to for 15 years, and who I never had a complaint with. AND then there is the being put on hold for 20+ minutes. Yes, that is exactly how I'd like to use my cell phone minutes, sitting on hold with their obnoxious commercials playing over and over and over. I have had such a rotten experience at County West I will never go back. Thank goodness there are other, better veterinarians in the Kankakee area. read more

I have been taking my dog there since I got him in 2013. The staff has always been good to me and my dog.when I gad an appointment I was always seen at the appropriate time. I will take my dog to them for all his needs. When he hurt his back in 2014, the doctors there treated him gently and nursed him back to health. They gave me back my pet that loves to run and play. read more

Won't be back, won't recommend anyone here. I'm going to try and keep this as short as possible because I could rant on and on about this place. My appointment was at 10:30, I showed up at 10:15 and didn't even get checked in until 10:35. None of the staff bothered to say "Can I help you? Have you been checked in? Do you have an appointment?" Nothing. I literally sit in the waiting room until 12:30, then was called back for my dogs heartworm test that took less than 5 minutes and I was out the door. It was muggy in here and all the dogs were barking and restless. I spoke with 2 other women in the waiting room and their appointments were both an hour or more past appointment time. When I was checking out none of the staff thanked me for waiting or being patient with them, because I could have went and spent my money elsewhere, which I will next time. 1 star because they honored my coupon for a free heartworm test for new patients. Also note that all the good reviews are older. I've heard that this location is the same and they're still called "County West" but it's all new staff and vets I believe. read more

Worst service in the area. Been there 4 times and have been very disappointed 3 of them. First time we boarded our 13 year old blind dog there for a day. When we picked him and his bedding up we discovered they put a urine soaked towel in with his bedding and the towel wasn't ours. The second time was for a pre surgical consultation and had a 4:30pm appointment but didn't get in to see the vet till almost 6pm and my wife had to leave because she had a 6pm appointment. The 3rd time was for the surgery which went fine. Today I had a 10:15 appointment and waited for an hour watching people who came in after me get in before me till I finally got up and walked out. So if you enjoy waiting to see a vet then you may like this place but it's not for me. read more

This vet office is not committed to pet care and I not there to support anyone. I called a few months ago new to the area and my poor cat has been battling cancer and reaching a huge health decline. I called them to make an appointment to end his suffering. They told me at that time there "weren't taking a new patients". I begged and pleaded saying he was suffering and I need help and without hesitation I was turned me away. Called a few months later after adopting a new pet who had just been spayed at animal control. Wanting to make an appointment to do there puppy care package and have her stitches removed. This time was told they didn't have any availability at all. Do not take your pet here. I have never written a review before till now, where I feel compelled! Being turned away twice for incredibly different reasons tells me THEY DO NOT CARE plain and simple. When my poor cats suffering needed to be ended they didn't bat an eye that should tell you everything you need to know! read more

Dr. Fedrow is great to work with and really cares about her patients. She even calls to check on them. Her prices are comparable, and often better, than other vets in the area. She has a nice, clean office and her office staff is friendly. read more

This office is very clean and they seem fine as far as their medical knowledge. The staff is not mean but they are not friendly either. My major complaint is that ever time I have been there I have waited at least an hour (sometimes longer) before getting called back for my appointment. I am in the medical field and I totally understand being busy and getting behind but waiting an hour with no update or acknowledgement that they are wasting my time is unacceptable. It is especially frustrating when my dog gets very anxious in the waiting room with the much bigger/barking dogs. read more

Do not use this vet/practice! My beloved kitty passed away at home very recently and when I brought him (his body) to this vet office, the girl immediately tried to take him from me, even though I had asked to come in with him and get a clay paw print momento. In addition, I was told my "timing was perfect". Turns out my timing was perfect because the guy that does the cremations was there so they could just add my cat to the load. I told them I wanted to come into the building for the paw print and they proceeded to bring me around the back of the building to go inside and I was brought behind the pick up truck that was being loaded with deceased animals in black plastic bags. (Mind you, I had my deceased animal in my arms at the time and was actively grieving his loss). As we continued toward the back of the building I witnessed another couple of workers pushing a rolling cart full of more deceased animals in plastic bags that they were adding to the pickup truck for the cremation company. It was at this moment that I turned around and left and brought my beloved pet's body to a different local vet clinic This other vet clinic treated me, as well as my beloved cat, with such respect and sincerity. I am EXTREMELY disappointed at the insensitivity of the staff at County West as well as the Wolfe Cremation Company (I thin they are from Chebanse, IL). To be paraded in front of deceased animals being loaded into a pickup truck not even an hour after my own beloved pet passed away was too much to handle, and VERY INSENSITIVE! Perhaps to a vet clinic who sees animals die often it is no big deal or maybe it is "routine" to them, but to me, a grieving pet mom, my kitty's life had value and he should be treated with dignity. Also, since I was very newly grieving, I feel some better judgment and sensitivity on the part of this vet clinic and crematory would've been nice. I will be sure to share my story with other pet lovers and prevent this from happening to another family and beloved pet. Our pets and loved ones deserve much better! read more

I do not suggest this Vet to anyone. Not that the Actual Vets aren't helpful, But the staff and Front Desk workers are Rude..... And we were Lied to about our Dog. They do not seem to care about the animals. Seems to be Overly Busy and maybe under-staffed. There were four Woman behind the counter and All were more concerned with answering the phones, That for some reason, were ringing off the hook. Then when we were finally helped, we were rushed and treated very badly. There was another woman waiting to be helped also, She gave me that look with the eye roll---- Like as to say WTF!!!! So apparently, She wasn't happy either.... There are many other places around this area that you will be treated much Better. I suggest you shop around when Looking for a Vet and do not take what County West has to say as Gospel..... Get a second opinion before you let them do anything to your animals..... read more

My sister in law took her sick dog into see the vet at County West on my recommendation. Now I regret that recommendation. I have taken my pets there for various appts and really liked the atmosphere and the workers. Unfortunately they didn't do the necessary tests my sister in laws dog needed. She brought him in telling them he is throwing up and sleeping a lot. She also mentioned he likes to eat/swallow socks and toys. They sent him home with meds saying he has a stomach bug basically. Two days later he seemed to keep getting worse and they took him to Bradley Animal hospital. The first thing they did was take an x ray. Where they found he swallowed something and unfortunately it already tore his stomach and he was dying. There was nothing they could do at this point. They put him to sleep a few minutes later. I will never recommend this place again. read more

I had a very sick 1yr old lab. He decided to eat a multitude of items such as plastic, zipper/cloth, horse hooves, etc. He was a very sick little boy. Luckily these items stopped in his stomach before entering the intestine. Dr. Wagner was wonderful. She explained what my options were and what procedures they would be doing with a follow up call when the procedure was done. Very efficient I love the Aroma Park staff that has joined this group as well. Dr. Piatt-Vaughn is my favorite. I will recommend this location to all my friends and family and to my Iroquois County 4H Dog obedience students. read more

I was quoted $175 for a tail dock for my Great Dane by Dr. Fedrow. Upon completion of the procedure they charged me $310. The antibiotics, anti-inflamatories, and collar were not quoted in the original price. I could understand if there were complications during surgery ,but these are standard post-surgical courses of treatment. They should have being in the original quote. Do not believe anything they quote you verbally and always ask for a detailed quote. read more
