I saw worms in my dog stool. Other dog had loose stool. Paid $320 for fecal PCR. The test report said negative to worms and parasites. I asked if the test covers worms. She said yes. Saw another worm couple days later. Took my dog to another vet. Paid another fecal PCR. And results were positive. Not sure if I just got scammed or what's the deal with this place. Historically the other VCA locations I have used while VCA has been more expensive than other places, but have been quite competent. read more

We had a very sick dog and they said bring him in now. They saw him immediately, diagnosed him, and provided the necessary meds. They instructed us on what to do over the next few days. While on vacation with my family and pets, one of my cats got sick. I called VCA DelMarVa and they accommodated an appointment even if I wasn't a local resident. The vet and vet asst were friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. The vet examined my cat, explained my cat's health issue, recommended a treatment, and gave us a Rx. My cat immediately started feeling better. She got good quality care and the cost was more affordable than back home. Their facilities were clean, tidy and spacious. This vet visit was such a relief! Very first visit there.Had 10:20 appointment for routine check up. Had my dogs records transferred from a Vet in Carroll County showing he was up to date and needing only one yearly shot. Immediately Vet tech went into sales mode with different test and exams my dog "may" need. Total for these charges was $470 but if I bundle them I can save $50. I declined ! 35 minutes later I asked if we had been forgotten about , told vet was working with an emergency, as i watched other patients arrive and leave. At this point my dog and I walked out ! Will happily make the trip back to Carroll County for a Vet that cares about your dog and your time !! read more

When my poor little Pomeranian dislocated his hip at the beach, I called around to several vets and VCA Delmarva was the only able to get him in and see him right away. The staff was amazing and compassionate. They quickly made the diagnosis and got him on pain meds to make him more comfortable until we can get him to an orthopedic specialist. I've been bringing my cat for the past 5 years. I love how friendly and accommodating they are. I used to take my cat to the animal hospital next door. My cat was very sick and the other hospital refused to see him even though he was already a patient. VCA hospital took him in right away! Ever since I've been a loyal customer. I've also used their boarding service and they are great! They send me pictures and follow ups on how my cat is doing. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THEM. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this vet! Dr Walther is the kindest, most compassionate person. His vet tech was just as wonderful. We are here on vacation when one of our dogs got bit by something. They got us in at 900 am and were extremely attentive. We feel so comforted that we now have a vet at our vacation spot. The vet tech came in with the treatment plan as well as the quote for services. The bill was very reasonable and they take Care Credit! I highly recommend this veterinary hospital!!! read more

So 6 months later. At this point, I'm a frequent flyer. We've gone through adopting two kittens, who seem to have a occasionally nasty strain of herpes virus (noninfectious) and 13 y/o cat with either cancer or IBS. In both cases, we feared the worst and Dr. Seacord seemed to pull them through. The former's eye slowly healed over time with the help of a little treatment and the latter is putting on a little bit of weight and is generally in a much happier place. Again, they may be more expensive than the other options but Dr. Seacord's attention to detail is the deciding factor for me. read more

Great hospital. Our little pup, Rocky, ate too much sand at the beach and threw up a bunch overnight. No one in the area would take him in the morning (even Savannah, who is walk-in??) but VCA Delmarva made room! My puppy had something stuck in her mouth that we couldn't get out and had to see a vet ASAP while away at the beach. After researching local vets on line I reached out to VCA Delmarva Animal Hospital, and I am so glad I did. They were very responsive, fit us in right away, communicated necessary information about Covid protocol, cost and the assessment up front, and were able to extract the object from our dog's mouth without sedation. My puppy is usually suspicious of strangers but I was told she was very cooperative with the team treating her - which means she could tell they were kind, loving and experienced professionals. I agree. I would not hesitate to bring her in to DAH again when the need arises. read more

mo money mo money mo money - dont give a crap about your pet but will try to milk you out of all our money - example - my dog was going there and was on allergy meds which ran out - i asked for a refill and was told no way unless i bring the dog in for heart worm test and other crap that i dont want - my dog is current with all the legal required shots but vca will not help my suffering dog unless i pay them for test that i am not interested in - kind of like an old time hold up for your money - i am taking my pet to a vet that loves animals and wants to help animals not milk the owners for every cent they can - and just for your information the heart worm preventive meds that they give to your dog is actually small dose of poison that kills the heart worm eggs but also is in your dogs system. read more

Dr Lauren Carlson is amazing... she's a true professional, so knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, thorough... she answered all of my questions and was able to point out the health problem which the vets at other place couldn't identify. Not happy either time I have been there., the first visit thought the 2 hour wait time was a isolated situation and the non caring attitude of the Vet and assistant. They PUSH EVERY SERVICE AND WILL RACK UP YOUR BILL HUGE! They would not honor 1ST EXAM FREE! And I had no choice but to take my other dog in on another day..being new to area and my dog was in need of vaccines. AGAIN, NO HONOR TO 1st exam free for "nee patients" the exams for my dog was OVER $250 AFTER I took off several fees that were written in the Estimated cost...this was again after a hour and a half of wait time...IN EXAM ROOM..45 min in lobby.. vet cut my dogs nails...cut the kwick and was NOT AT ALL EVEN PLEASANT nor did she seem as if she liked her job..it was about packing in appts..and PADDING THE BILL! Worst vet I have been to see EVER and I have seen many over the years and always had pets..dogs cats and exotics. BECAREFUL IF YOU GO AND DONT PLAN ANYTHING ELSE AFTER APPT.. you just have to wait and hope for the best.. I would find another office to take my animals to and not roll the dice at this office. This was my first visit here today and I was impressed withDr. Seacord's attention to detail. My two year old dog seemed completely comfortable here as well and my five year old son loved that they had cookies out for their human customers. I thought the prices were a little high; my previous vet charged $55 for a office visit vs. their $65, but the facility was clean,the staff was friendly,and other customers seemed to like being there so I will return. read more

We recently moved to Ocean City Maryland from Northern VA. Our German Shepherd Sargent injured himself playing ball on the beach and I contacted 4 local vets for an appointment to have an x-ray of his leg. Knowing that I had a dog with an injured leg, each of these vets told me because I was not a 'current client' the first available appointment would not be until mid February! I contacted VCA Delmarva and again explained the situation, after speaking to the doctor the receptionist told us to bring Sargent in that day! Dr. Seacord was phenomenal!!! She went out of her way to explain in detail Sargent's injury, performed the x-ray, contacted us at 9am this morning with the detailed radiology report and set up weekly calls with us over the next month to monitor his progress. I was vacationing in ocean city and my dog Harper had an abrasion on her paw that got infected so I found this place on Google and since it was nearby gave it a try. I spoke to Brittany on the phone to make the appointment and she was very professional and accommodating and they saw my dog that day. When we got there, everything moved very quickly and they were not only professional but very friendly as well. They gave my dog lots of love and did not rush through the examination and you could tell they loved their jobs and love animals. If there is ever an issue while we are in ocean city again I will definitely bring them back to treat my "dogters" :) I highly recommend this place. This happened on Thursday and they even called on Monday to check up on her and ask how she was doing. I wish we lived closer because they are a great place! read more

Our Toby, a tuxedo, was straining to pee. The next day he left some crystals on a towel near his bed. I called VCA Delmarva who took us in immediately. After an extensive exam with bloodwork, Toby was issued meds and the directions for a special diet. I went here as a last resort when my dog cut the tip of his ear and it would not stop bleeding. They sedated him, put stitches in it and cauterized it supposedly, then wrapped his entire head in a bandage. 360$ For all that. Well two days later we go in again to check out the wound and remove the bandage... Still bleeding. So they re-wrap his head which I had to pay for again. And their suggestion was leave the bandage on for almost 5 days! Well towards the end of the 5 days I noticed my dog was in pain and didn't want anyone near his head/ear area. Went in to take off the bandage for a second time and now because he's had his head wrapped for a week straight his ear was badly inflamed and bloody an infected. And to top it off the original wound was still bleeding. I asked the lady if there was some kind of glue or something to seal it, and it was as if it had never even dawned on her to try that. A couple drops of that and the cut was sealed. However they still charged me for the medicine and cone collar to fix his infected ear... Damage caused by them!!!! Sounds like I could have went in on day one, cleaned up the cut, put the glue on and walked out 10 minutes later and 400+ dollars still in my bank account... VCA animal hospital does not care about the well being of the animal, they only care about the total at the end of the visit. Good business practices if you look at from the stand point of "let's keep the animal sick or hurt for as long as possible so we can keep charging them for every little thing" bad business practices is you look at from the stand point of, this is a place people come when their pets, members of the family, are hurt or sick and need professional help. read more

Clean waiting area. I guess that's worth one star, since no stars is not an option. Simple visit for rabies shots for my cats turned into $500, me stupidly believing other things were needed. I agree with another reviewer here -- they are all about padding the bill, pushing services, and upselling. I wonder if they work on commission? and they act like you think your pets are your children. They really try to butter you up. One popular upsell is the feline fecal test, which they add to your bill without telling you what they are testing for, and hoping you won't do it or will forget about it. They billed me for three of them and refused to refund me when I did not bring in the poop! Flashy office, go here if unnecessary expenses are your thing! read more
