My year old cat had a horrible reaction to her booster vaccines. I called and told them she was throwing up non stop, had diarrhea and then was throwing up blood. Their response was take her to Cottonwood ER and they would let them know I was in my way. Upon arrival, they said there was no one who could see her and sent me to another ER vet which I could have gone to originally and was closer to my house. $1,000 later. I called in because my cat is not eating One of the receptionist told me that they have appetite booster. I can just come in and buy it which I did right away. Turns out it's not true. The lady with the ginger hair made me look absolutely stupid acting like I didn't call the place because nobody would say something like that. Turn out it was her colleague right next to her who told me the false information. I tried to explain the situation what happening the lady with the ginger hair didn't care about what I have to say so she told someone else to help me. The lady who helped me was super nice and helpful. She tried to see if I could come in the next day because of my work schedule I wasn't able to do a same-day appointment. She tried to ask the ginger haired lady and told her she cannot do it because of her schedule the ginger her lady basically just scoffed and shrug her shoulder that she doesn't care. Went and got a second opinion after visiting this place. This place is over priced and the suggested procedures, testing and surgery was not needed for a developing bump on dogs leg. They called it "gold standard" and was ready to take money. My 2nd opinion and new vet told me the bump on my dogs leg was most likely from the rabies vax and did not want to subject my dog to any further testing. My new vet knew exactly what it was in seconds. My new vet's pricing is a whole lot cheaper if the suggested course was needed. Also I waited in VCA's room over 40 minutes waiting to be seen with a nervous and stressed out dog. I left and took him for a walk just to get him out. The workers at front desk were very nice and professional. Very apologetic for the long wait. I just can't take any of my dogs here anymore. I have been taking both my dogs here for medical and grooming services since we moved here. But I'll will not be going back any longer. My little schnauzer is a little difficult to groom and I can understand that but for the second time now and the second time we went to Wynona he has come home with ruptured vessels in his eye to the point where you can't see any white it's all blood. Like I said I know he can be difficult but he should be choked or squeezed to the point of this. It makes me scared to trust them with my dogs any longer. It's a really shame. When I called they wanted me to talk to her, not to a manager. Just didn't feel like they genuinely cared. Glad I paid $60 with a $15 tip for my dog to be tortured. read more

Needed our new cat spayed and we had taken our other cat there 3 years ago. That cost $157 which I thought was quite reasonable. Now, they require you to bring your cat in to see a doctor first - that was yesterday and cost around $150 and the spaying was done today for $534. So $700 for a procedure that cost $157 three years ago. My wife and I feel very taken advantage of. UPDATE: Spoke to the Hospital manager who claimed she never received the email. She said the price we got for having our first cat spayed was dictated by the county but if they can afford to do it for 1/3 of the cost we paid then why ream their customers? She basically assumed the attitude of you signed off on it so you should be ok with being screwed. The thing is, nobody said that it was going to be that astronomical before we booked our initial appointment or we'd have continued looking for a more reasonable alternative. read more

I was referred to come here from someone I know, because of their excellent experience here in the past. I'm so glad I brought my dog in today! The staff here is so friendly, and so helpful! Since I had never been in before I was told to arrive early to fill out paperwork. The process was smooth, and it was well explained by a staff member on what to fill out. The wait time from when I handed in my paperwork to getting brought back into a room was not long at all. Once I got back into a room one of the staff members asked what brought me in today, and what concerns I had. She was very friendly, and very nice to me and my dog. She asked if she could give my dog a treat and said the doctor would be in. The wait for the doctor took maybe 3-5 minutes, not long at all! The doctor was very friendly, and gentle with my dog. He explained everything in great detail, and offered suggestions. He too offered my dog a treat and was very nice to my dog and I! I live in Salt Lake City and I drove all the way out here because of the great recommendation I received, and I will tell you it was definitely worth it!! It's been more than 3 years that I've been taking my boys to Mountain View to see Dr. Kanda, and I can't see myself bringing them any place else. I have only had amazing experiences here, starting when she rescued my two distemper-sick kittens in July of 2016. I drive from downtown Salt Lake to visit Mountain View on 9400 S...with 2 screaming cats in a crate in my backseat. That should give you an idea as to how dedicated I am to this facility. 25+ minutes (freeway time) of endless screaming cat. The staff is nice and helpful, and Dr. Kanda is a kitty miracle worker. I trust her completely with my boys. read more

Mountainview is great! We love Dr. Kanda! Always a great experience and they are frequently able to get our dogs in should something come up. It is a bit more expensive than surrounding vet clinics, but we have been quite happy here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING ANY FUR BABIES TO THEM. ESPECIALLY if you have EXOTIC PETS. My poor sugar glider has had issues using the bathroom. He needed his bladder drained, due to all the vets being closed today, VCA Mountain View was our only hope. We've had his bladder drained 2x at Parrish Creek(With NO PROBLEMS) We got to VCA Mountain ONE time and my baby sugar glider is Gone! He passed away. They pretty much gave me back my dying sugar glider. They didn't wait to see how he handled the anesthetic. So when I received my poor baby he was frozen and out of it. I think they handled this situation very poorly. And I would hate for anyone else to experience what we have with VCA Mountain View. Dr Hazelwood was very arrogant and condescending, it seems she has a super vet complex. I take good care of my children. You are asked to bring your dog in between 8 and 10 am, and that it would be a couple hours til she is ready (should be my first flag) then 7 hours later I call to check and she has had a bath. Yes a bath in 7 hours that was some bath!!! Then I'm told it is going to be about her hour til she is ready. Yes your math is correct. 8 hours for a basic bath and cut. Again great vet care but find yourself a different groomer!! read more

Beware of Sally Stevenson! We brought our dog in for routine dental and cytology work. Unbeknownst to us, Sally told our vet to remove 4 benign tumors from our elderly dog. Mind you, she is not a vet or a vet tech, nor did she ever discuss this with us or the vet. She's the office manager - not someone who should have any authority to determine what happens to people's animals. She left the information via post-it note on top of our signed paperwork with a nearly thousand dollar price tag she claimed we approved. Our dog is now battling an infection and has at least two weeks recovery time for a surgery she didn't need. What should have been a simple day at the vet has turned into a nightmare. Top it all off with the fact that she couldn't even be bothered to offer an apology for her "mistake." Disappointed that she still has a job there and could put other animals in unnecessary pain like she did to ours. read more

Our dogs seem to like it--at least they don't freak out when we pull in the parking lot (which can be tricky so you have to turn on 9400 South from 1300 East then make two immediate right turns). If you plan ahead, they can groom your dog during their stay. They can also do medical procedures if needed. They sell food and supplies. read more

We brought our English bulldog in for his second round of boosters and were very unhappy with the service as well as a 2 minute checkup that cost $55! He GOT BIT by another dog that was there and we got blamed for not controlling our him. After that it took 3 technicians to get him weighed and they couldn't do it...he is only 5 months old and 25 pounds. One of the workers called him a F#*%ing wild animal. She then ordered us to calm him down in a room. We tried asking the vet a few simple questions about his teeth. The vet did not answer our questions and made us feel dumb for even asking. My dog was having complications from being neutered. He was lethargic and in a lot of pain. It was 6:30 on a Friday night so the clinic that performed the procedure and our normal vets office were closed so we called VCA Mountain View and asked if we could be seen. They were open until 8:00 so they told us to come on in. Once we got there, they acted so confused as to who we were and why we were there. Nobody owned up to talking to us on the phone and they acted extremely put out. We were left standing in the front office while one of the vet techs rambled on about how they were closing soon, they couldn't help us, and we couldn't be seen. She finally took a look at our dog and said she would go talk to the vet to at least get their opinion. She came down a couple minutes later and blamed the clinic that performed the procedure for my dog's current condition and said he'd most likely need emergency surgery. The vet couldn't even be bothered to come down and look at our dog themselves (they were still open for another hour at this point). After refusing to see us and giving us some bogus diagnosis, they told us there was nothing they could do. So we went to Cottonwood Animal hospital (should've just gone here in the first place) and they got us in right away. They prescribed pain medication and antibiotics to ease his suffering until the neuter clinic could see him for a follow-up appointment. They were very caring and took as much time as we needed to answer all our questions. THIS is how you should act when someone comes in scared with their dog who is clearly in pain. What an absolute joke our experience was at VCA Mountain View. Their interactions with us and attempt to help our dog were absolutely pathetic. Our family members go to this clinic and after hearing of our experience they won't be going back. read more

Our dog was extremely ill and we had called to verify that we could stop by after work. We knew his time was up and we just wanted to say our last goodbyes to our dog Toby. We get there at about 5:45 (The soonest we could get there due to work) and they refused to take him, even though they were open later and we had confirmed by phone. They even asked the Vet on call if they could bring him in and they said that they could not accept him. After thousands of dollars in Vet bills to them, we have found another Vet clinic that is more compassionate and not anxious to get out of the office. read more

Don't bring your pet here. My dog has cancer and was having problems so we brought him in at 10 am to be seen. They put him in a kennel with no food or water and didn't do anything for his pain or condition. The vet finally saw him 7 pm and he was not doing well so she said take him to the ER. At this point it's after hours so we were limited to where we can go and the cost of care doubles. But after what Mountain View Animal Hospital did to him we just wanted to make him comfortable. I visited the clinic for a dental cleaning and tooth extraction for my cat. After the procedure they overdosed my cat with pain killer. They had to keep my cat for 4 days to clean her kidneys and make sure the kidneys did not stop functioning and she die. My cat has been terribly traumatized since this incident and not herself. The clinic did offer to pay for the hospitalization but they insisted I pay for the original procedure. I had to have multiple conversations that I should not have to pay for them attempting to kill my cat. They finally agreed to drop the bill, though the small bill was not worth the risk and hassle. One of the doctors was very nice and another I visited was inept. They suggested over a thousand dollars of tests and later that days I found my cat had worms. It is amazing that a clinic could not figure out something as simple as intestinal worms that she likely got when she was hospitalized after they tried to kill her. Beware of this clinic. You don't want to risk overdosing your own animal, or worse. read more

I used them years ago, but they seem to be under new management and have all new vets, and they are really great. They are friendly, professional, organized, and you can tell the vets care, and it doesn't feel like they are trying to make you do more for your pet than necessary. After 21 years with Mountain View, my family and our 6 dogs will never be going back. Dr H and Dr Van Wagoner were the only good things about Mountain View, and with losing the only trustworthy people at their clinic, they'll also be losing our business. Our little Tibby went to Mountain View for her whole life (16 yrs). She had many health issues. After spending weeks in the medical boarding after a surgery due to cancer, she was released. "Dr" Kanda pumped her full of fluids without monitoring her output then discharged her. My family brought Tibby in after hours that night because she was bloated, swollen and her bladder was closed. "Dr" Kirkland told us that she would've died had she not come in, after drowning in those fluids. He also shared other concerns relating to Kanda. Later on, in an effort to save face, Kirkland "didn't remember those statements". On the worst day of our lives, when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let our sweet baby go, Sally (who knew Tibby since she was a puppy) called as they were driving to our house, to discuss money. It was tacky, cold, and thoughtless. Not once has money ever been an issue, and not once have we failed to pay for the thousands of dollars of medical care for any of our animals. She should be ashamed, and to this day none of us have ever forgiven that moment or received an apology. It may be a business, but calling to amp up prices and talk coldly about our loving dogs death MINUTES before it happened, was disgusting. This was the beginning of the money grubbing, losing touch with patients path that Mountain View has continued to deteriorate down. But our family stayed, because VanWagner was still there. I have personally had "Dr" Kirkland be disrespectful and untrustworthy in regards to my Maxwell, who has significant health issues. On one occasion I ended up in the office in tears as he berated me over my dog (who I love dearly and have spent THOUSANDS of dollars ensuring his every need is met). Anyone that knows me or Maxwell will attest to the fact I go above and beyond to ensure his health and safety in all circumstances, so to be talked down to for absolutely no reason, is unacceptable. In the last year I have boarded Maxwell with Mountain View twice. Both times he was supposed to be in medical boarding, which I paid for, and both times I found out he was sent to the basement and not given the appropriate care. During one of the stays he lost 5ish pounds in 4 days, and wasn't given ANY of his needed medication to keep his internal bleeding at bay. I called twice daily and the reports were that his meds were given and he was eating great, which was clearly not the case. He came home with a flair up of his IBS, bleeding from his stomach, lethargic and sick. But it's ok because "Sally was like, so sorry" and gave me a refund. IT ISN'T ABOUT THE MONEY SALLY, it is about our dogs wellbeing.. although it is clearly about money for you. To me it was about my little man sick and suffering due to your negligence. I dreaded leaving him at Mountain View if it was a weekend Van Wagoner wasn't working, because I knew that he would only be looked after appropriately if she was monitoring. With the recent high turnover (which has never been a problem in the past) of doctors, techs and front end staff, it is clear that this clinic is going downhill in terms of patient care and staff training. All of our pets will be moving clinics although Mountain View is the closest. I had hoped to still use Mountain View in an emergency. That will never happen. After this long of a track record, under no circumstance would I trust any of them to provide appropriate care for my Maxwell, especially Kanda or Kirkland. They have proven they can't be trusted and that they do not care about the actual wellbeing of their clients. Save your money, and your pets.. go to a clinic that cares. read more

Despite me being an emotional neurotic mess the staff and Dr treated me and my puppy with tremendous courtesy and love. I wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else. Best clinic in town! I moved from Utah now but was a client at Mountain View Animal Hospital for 10 years. Only positive things to say about this vet clinic. My cats saw Dr. Kanda and Dr. VanWagoner, both of them are terrific and took time to explain what was going on and the different options of care. I never felt rushed. Dr. Kanda did teeth cleanings on all my cats. And I also appreciated that the vets took the time to call me themselves after a surgery or critical visit to check on my cats. Another thing: that's the only pet clinic I have been at that has 2 separated waiting rooms: one for cats and one for dogs. It's great as it reduces the stress on cats particularly who don't really like to wait next to dogs. Definitively recommended!! read more

We moved vets to Mountain View Animal Hospital for our second puppy since it was much closer to our house. We went in for all 3 of the puppy shots for our second puppy and the annual exam for our 1 year old puppy. Front desk receptionists are welcoming and directs you to wait in an exam room after getting checked in. We saw total of 3 different doctors and we were never seen on our appointment time. They would have us wait 20-30 minutes past our appointment time to get our dogs seen. One of the appointments, we brought both of our dogs in for the final round of shots and the annual exam. We waited, waited, and waited as the doctor went in and out of the exam room. A visit that could have taken 15 minutes was extended to 2 hours. Not only are the doctors very unprofessional with time, they seem very incompetent in regards to the needs of your pet. The doctor was not able to or ignorantly skipped over parts of the annual exam and did not catch an ear infection that we caught in one of our dogs a few days later. Our second puppy also got ear infection from the first dog. If the doctor took time to recognize foul smell in his ears, it could have prevented the contagion between my dogs or at least stopped the advancement of the ear infection. I really want to give businesses good reviews, but when the incompetence and unprofessionalism repeat from visits to visits, I am not convinced that their priority is us or the pets. read more

We had brought our dogs here for the past six years, ever since we moved to the area and had always been happy. We had even used the kennel services on occasion. Our Pomeranian got very sick a few years ago and, with him being over 10 years old, we were very concerned. We called and were told to bring him right in and they would get him right in. On Wednesday, our Pom, who was now 13 1/2, was gravely ill. He was having trouble breathing, listless, couldn't walk, vomiting, blood in his stool, etc. I called in and told the person who answered his symptoms. She seemed unsympathetic, saying they were really busy and the earliest we could be seen was on Thursday. She added that we could come in and wait and they "might" be able to get to us sometime that day, but there were no guarantees. She explained how, if they did get to us, I would have to pay over 50% extra because it was unscheduled. Here I am believing my Pom is dying and I'm being given excuses and warnings about cost. I couldn't just wait and hope. I found another vet in the area, who even though he was fully booked, saw our Pom. After examining him, he informed us he believed our Pom's organs were failing. He said we could hospitalize him and he may recover, but it wasn't likely and it would take intensive testing and treatment. We knew, with his age, every day we had with him was a blessing. We made the hard decision to ease his suffering and let him cross that rainbow bridge. As our concerns were borne out, we found a vet who, no matter how busy he was, was willing to take the time to help our family in our time of need, even if we had never been to his office before. read more

Just moved to town a few weeks ago and my pup got a stomach bug from a local dog park. Took him into a different vet and they made me wait almost 2 hours before I just walked out. Took him here and I was in and out in a half hour. The doc was so nice, friendly and polite and my pup loved her. She seemed to know exactly what he was experiencing and the issue by what I told her and also able to help me get him up to date on his wormers which I had spaced. They honestly were just so good with both the people and the pups and made us both feel very comfortable and a ease. Will definitely use them in the future. read more

My dog has severe allergies and after years of trying different treatments we finally tried a steroid while living in Phoenix. We were giving her a monthly dose and everything was great. No more biting her leg raw and no more scratching. When we moved to SLC I was concerned we wouldn't be able to duplicate the dosage and type of steroid. My concerns have so far been justified. This is the second vet hospital I've been to that promises they have an alternative to the harsh steroid we've been giving her and it's worked on every dog they've seen. Wrong! It doesn't work and it would make my dog's life a lot easier if I could just get the steroid I requested. I spent over $100 on something that didn't work and have tried calling twice for a solution and have yet to receive a response. The staff is friendly and the office is clean, but I wish it was more like my old vet where they listened to my concerns. read more

I do NOT recommend this place for boarding. While the managers were professional and helpful when I asked for a refund, the staff is completely negligent and uneducated in how to properly care for animals. My reservations were incorrect even after calling to confirm them. Being a 1st time customer, I asked if I could see the boarding quarters at drop off if I followed all Carona procedures (temperature taken, mask, etc). I was told no until I requested to speak with a manager that morning. The staff did not ask any questions or gather any information about my dogs at drop off. I have two large breed dogs - both mutts. One of my dogs is aggressive around food and small animals, and even after sharing that information with them, no questions were asked and no precautions were taken. I had to call and remind them to feed and walk my dog separately. None of the supplies I sent with my dogs were used (beds, food, etc). I'm assuming they were given other food even though it was never communicated to me either way. You simply don't run a business like this. Do not send your dog here (especially if they have pre-existing health or behavior conditions). Aside from that, the staff is not friendly. It was an overall poor experience, and we will not be returning. read more

I got out puppies dew claws removed. Except they billed for things you aren't made aware of. They will say things like " just bring her in, we'll get her taken care of" without letting you know there are charges associated with such things. They did a good job from what i can tell, but then this happened over bandage change. So the kicker, one of the nurses came barging out of the back room furious about something we did. We wraped bandages ourselves one midnight because they kept coming off. So we took her in the next morning; She was boarder line screaming in the lobby making it a public scene. My girlfriend came home cried thinking we were the worst dog parents ever feeling horrible. We love our dog and a nurse just threw it in our face making is feel horrible when we tried or best to give the care. Completely unprofessional. To compensate they cut our hundred dollar "extra" bill in half, we had no idea wasn't included in the initial surgery cost, when i brought up what happened. I guess $50 isn't worth keeping return clients happy. But this one isolated incident from reading other reviews I'm sure . They simple ruined our business with them and our two dogs won't be coming back. It sounded like they didn't believe me when i brought it up and just wanted a lower bill. It's not about the money, that's nothing. But treating the dogs and there owners like they shouldn't be together and trying to give the utmost care for them is unacceptable. I acknowledge that I sent a 2-rated review because Mountain View would not spend 30-bucks to staff a holiday, forcing me to spend another $32 dollars and be another day without my Buddy. But, we chose to have them clean his teeth and do whatever was necessary to avoid his pain and extend his life. They did the surgery, $2000 worth of surgery, but that's not my complaint. They either botched the surgery (not likely) or botched the post-surgery treatment. He had to go for a second surgery. First, not once did I get any call or was I forwarded to any vet. We're they hiding? Nor was I given any explanation or cause other than it had to be done. Second, I was promised a call following the second surgery. I never received it but when I called because I hadn't gotten a call, there was only a "sorry." Third, when I went to get my Buddy, it took him 2-days before he was "normal" again. Do they drug them? Not going back. They seem to be deferring care away from vets to technicians, which their receptionist confirmed and they seem to be running a business for profit, not for care. They should get back to the model where the vet leads both the service and the communication. read more

I took our 8 week old puppy on Saturday after she vomited some roundworms. I knew they were open later than a vet closer to our house and they gave some consultation over the phone about my dog. I didn't realise this was common in 90% of puppies. I wasn't comfortable waiting until Monday to get her treated since she was very lethargic and not eating. We waited about 10-15 min which seemed perfectly reasonable since we did not have an appointment. The vet saw us quickly and got our pup treated. I appreciate that they take walk-ins, have professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff and the pricing for treatment was reasonable as well.
