Arizona has an under-seasoning epidemic but Vecina has comfortably beaten the allegations. Flavors…read morewere all on point and as expected from the components on the menu, which doesn't happen often in Phoenix. The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

We ordered a bottle of wine and went to town on: White Bean Puree * Crispy Short Rib | Herb Salad | Flour Tortilla: Karaage * Aji Amarillo | Citrus Gastrique | Togarashi | Lime Elote * Chorizo Butter | Lime Creme Fraiche | Toasted Chiles Romaine * Buttermilk Dressing | Mexican Sriracha | Parmesan | Noble Bread Breadcrumbs Gambas al Ajillo * Wild Shrimp Co. Mexican Shrimp | Paprika Garlic Butter | Serrano Cruda | Garlic Noble Bread - this was the only dish that was not my favorite. SUPER flavorful but I wanted a more.. 'traditional' tapas Gambas al Ajillo flavor aka less paprika please. Saudero tacos (a brisket confit suadero tacos with a chile jam, aguacate, serrano cruda, toasted sesame, fresnos and micro cilantro) We sat on the patio for a wonderful AZ spring evening. The service was great. I also enjoyed their extensive tequila and mezcal menu. The only downside is the parking -- it's pretty small and shared with Lou Malnati's next door!

We had a warm greeting from the hostess stand and were seated promptly at our reservation time. The restaurant gives off a warm and cozy vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is two pages offering some dishes served family style. We decided to share all our dishes. Our waitress was friendly and offered great suggestions. Food came out quick and was delicious. A great spot to celebrate a special occasion.

The entire restaurant seems void of cilantro which I know is a love or hate ingredient, but is a staple in Hispanic dishes. Everything from guacamole to the flautas needed it. Guacamole was delicious, but expensive for what you get ($19). As a vegan, you are VERY limited in what you can order. Guacamole and two salads without cheese and the potato flautas without cheese. Very meh. We only ate here because we were staying at the hotel and assuming beans and vegetables would be plentiful in the dishes. Wrong. We left hungry. Service was very good though. Matthew was our server. We had come here for a birthday and were seated at a small two top in a very busy area. It wasn't relaxing, intimate, or enjoyable. So many other good places to dine in Phoenix. One and done for me.

Though not on the menu, he made a hibiscus margarita for my friend. She ordered the chile en nogada and was blown away by the amazing and complex flavors. Every time I come here, the owner, Ulises, has added something new to enhance the ambiance. This time, he added a wonderful outdoor fountain with the beautiful sound of water splashing off a copper pipe. He also added a large tile topped family table in the main dining room. Just 3/4 of a mile north is Casa Corazon, run by Ulises' father. Both restaurants are absolute family-run gems. Followed that up with the goat and wow what flavor. It was amazing and easily would go back for this. Service was good but could see if busy they'd struggle. Maybe was off hours. The main thing I hope to see changed was the salsa. It really was watery and lacking spice and flavor. I was surprised when I asked if it was the normal look and our waitress said yes. Overall great spot and easily 5 stars with improved salsa

The bartender was incredibly friendly and made the whole experience even better. Their margarita was delicious and so refreshing. I loved that it's made with only three ingredients and you can really taste how clean and balanced it is. For our appetizer we ordered the Pressed Yellowtail Sushi. It was really flavorful and beautifully presented. The only thing I wish they had was a little wasabi on the side. For dinner we split the Braised Short Rib and it was incredible. The meat was tender, lean, and rich, and it paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes. Great food, great drinks, and great service. Definitely one of those places you keep coming back to.
