Horrible Experience -- Complications Dismissed Instead of Taken Seriously…read more I am extremely disappointed with both the results of my treatment and the way my concerns have been handled afterward. My results look uneven and lopsided. I now have a noticeably droopy left eyelid and eyebrow, something I never experienced when receiving treatment for the same issues from my previous doctor in Houston. I still have the "11" lines between my eyebrows and still have my laugh lines. The area that seems to have been significantly affected is my left eyelid and eyebrow, which are now drooping. I went in hoping to look better and instead feel that I look worse. What concerns me just as much as the result is the response from the practice. I have experienced a complication following a cosmetic procedure in the past, and that doctor took the situation seriously, treated it with urgency, and made every effort to evaluate the problem and make things right. That experience showed me how a medical practice can respond when a patient reports an unexpected cosmetic outcome. Here, my experience has been the opposite. I spoke with Corina, an assistant, and found her response dismissive and unhelpful. I asked to see another doctor within this very large practice and was told I could not, although I could see someone at the med spa. When I explained that a proposed 1:45 appointment conflicted with a work meeting, her response that she "guessed" she could try another day came across as rude and dismissive. When a patient calls concerned about a new drooping eyelid and eyebrow after a procedure, I would expect compassion, urgency, and an effort to have the problem evaluated--not to feel like an inconvenience. The way this situation has been handled has seriously undermined my confidence in this practice. Based on my personal experience, I would not feel comfortable undergoing something more invasive here, such as a laser procedure or facial surgery. If this is how my complication and concerns are handled, the thought of dealing with a complication from a more significant procedure is frightening. I would not recommend this provider or practice based on my experience.

I have had second lead less pace maker put in a year ago which was amazing. Still had left arm pain so was still searching for someone to listen and maybe get me some relief. My family doctor referred me to the Medical Vein clinic. So I made appointment and when I arrived I seen they specialize in legs not arms so I was worried I was not going to get any answers. Then in came Dr. Gianiis. He sat there listened to my very long story and he said let's see what I can do to get you pain free. So we did few tests and played some games with insurance for few months. Then insurance would finally let Dr Gianis put in a stent. So we did the stent placement procedure and my arm feels really great. The swelling has come down and I can finally do things with my left arm that I could not do for 3 years. Hands down very caring doctor and what to give shout out to the awesome staff. Morgan, Shannon and Georgina. All very caring and want you to feel great again. VA Ophthalmology performed probing and irrigation (P&I) and determined that I needed surgical…read moreintervention, so I was referred to Dr. Holck. From check-in through the physician encounter, I repeatedly felt that no one was listening to what I was saying. After completing the intake questionnaire on an iPad, the front desk told me I needed to sign consent for P&I because the physician would want to perform it. I explained that the VA had already performed P&I and that I had brought the results. The iPad was handed back to me anyway. I explained it a second time: the procedure has already been performed, I have the results with me, and I am not consenting to unnecessarily repeat it. When I was taken back, the medical assistant asked why I had refused to sign the P&I consent. For the third time, I explained that I had already undergone the procedure and was holding the results. She responded that I had apparently already signed the form and she must have missed it. For the fourth time, I explained: No, I did not sign it. I already had the procedure. The results are right here in my hand. Then I met Dr. Holck. When I explained that the VA had referred me specifically for this procedure, he asked why I didn't simply have the VA perform it. I told him that based on my personal experiences, I was not comfortable having the VA perform surgery on me. Rather than simply respecting that decision as my choice as a patient, he defended his VA provider friends, telling me that they were competent and that he liked them. Eventually, Dr. Holck moved on to explain the proposed stent procedure and possible DCR/CDCR options if the initial treatment was unsuccessful. He also explained that the stent would eventually be removed while I was awake. In a desperate last-ditch effort to establish rapport but showing a bit of vulnerability, I jokingly told him that having something removed from my eye while awake sounded intimidating, but that I believed I could handle it. He responded by telling me that he performs the procedure on children, so it depends on how mature someone is, and then he asked me: "Are you mature?" That was the point at which I lost confidence in allowing this physician to operate on me. I am 44 years old. I am a DOCTOR. I served 21 years in the United States Air Force and am a 100% disabled veteran. None of those things should be required for a patient to be treated respectfully. Every patient deserves that. I mention them because being asked whether I was "mature" after expressing a reasonable concern about an eye procedure felt particularly patronizing. I came here because I needed a surgeon. I left feeling dismissed and disrespected throughout the experience and without the level of trust I would need to allow this physician to operate on me.

I am…read morean RN and I know very well how easily mistakes happen in hospitals and I was really afraid of having surgery. Dr. Chrysopoulo and Denise, RN, spent all the time they needed to offer reassurance and answer every question we had. Dr. C was very interested in making sure the outcome was what we wanted, so he spent the time getting to know my husband and me. He was also very frank and transparent about what he thought was realistic. He's very confident and that was reassuring. The surgery lasted 9.5 hrs. Dr C told my husband there was a challenge, and the resolution to the challenge increased the surgery time by 2-3 hours, but he did it because he cares about the outcomes long term for me. That meant so much to us. The office staff is always kind and extra polite. They, too, go out of their way to accomodate their patients. There have been no billing issues, and the biller went out of her way to help me with a problem. The clinical staff are all Registered Nurses, which I find incredible. Any time I talk to a clinical person, I'm talking to someone who can make a decision to help me with what I need. I was not surprised when I found out that people come from all over the country and even from other countries to have PRMA physicians perform their surgeries. They are highly qualified and skilled surgeons who are committed to their work. I highly recommend them.
