If you're standing in front of Faanoos then you have a choice of two other Persian restaurants within walking distance: There's Chella down the road (near the GBK end of Chiswick), which has a more Western atmosphere, and service, and excellent food. Then there's Rice, which is literally across the road from Faanoos. Even though the service is very good at Rice, I prefer the food at Chela and Faanoos. Things that are most popular at Persian restaurants are the Makhsoos, and the Chicken grill. All starters are worth a try. If you're not a grill fan then there are other dishes you can choose from. If you're walking past between 12-6pm then you can stop and have their Chicken or Lamb sandwich for £3.80, wrapped in their freshly made bread. And no, I don't work for them!! Every once in a while (~five years) I will have no other choice (e.g. airport, tagging along with colleagues, drunk, etc.) but to eat here and every single time I am in awe at how truly forgettable it is. How one company can render the tastes of cusines that are normally so delicious to be so bereft of flavor is truly a marvel in mass produced sludge. It must be the marketing right? The playful name?
