The professional, kind, and truly caring staff--including Dr. Matt, Tracey, and the hygienist--are gone, and the quality has suffered dramatically as a result. I recently went in for a routine cleaning. During the procedure, I was told I had to wear the black plastic protective glasses, or I wasn't welcome there and should leave. When I explained to Dr. Timothy Luong that I'm severely claustrophobic and have a history of panic attacks from previous life-threatening surgeries, he showed zero empathy. He didn't listen to my concerns at all--he simply insisted on the glasses and, when I couldn't comply due to my medical condition, asked me to leave immediately. This complete lack of compassion and accommodation for a legitimate health issue was shocking and unacceptable. No effort was made to discuss alternatives or understand my situation. I felt dismissed and disrespected as a patient. I will never step foot in Ascend Dental again and strongly advise others to think twice before choosing this practice. I paid $130 for a consultation and paid for Uber there and back, just for my actual consultation with Dr. Radmal to last less than 3 minutes. He literally asked me to smile, looked at my teeth, saw that I still had braces and basically immediately said no to gum contouring. I am not mad that he told me no. If I can't get gum contouring until my braces are done, then okay. My problem is why am I paying $130 for a consultation just to be rushed and barely have anything explained to me? I was confused about the whole process with my braces, gum contouring and future crown, so I asked him to explain it again. Instead, he seemed so impatient. I was trying to clarify what he meant and he immediately went "No, no, I never said that. I never said that " I wasn't accusing him of anything. I was literally confused and trying to understand my own dental treatment. Then he asked if I had any other questions and left. The whole interaction felt so rushed. I also asked how much the procedure would cost and he told me around $3,000 to $5,000 and said "It's not cheap" The way he said it came off so judgmental and unnecessary. I asked for the price. I did not ask for his opinion on whether or not I could afford it. The only nice person there was the dental assistant. The front desk experience made everything even worse. I was already confused after the consultation and was asking about my other dental office since they're connected to the same company. While I was talking, I literally saw the girl at the front desk roll her eyes, glare at me and then smile at me afterward like nothing happened. So unprofessional and honestly just rude. I even called Beyond Dental afterward because I was so unhappy with the consultation and asked for a refund. I was told they were sorry and that they would call me back. They never did. I had to call them back myself just to be told they couldn't do anything. Edit: I would never recommend Dr. Radmal. And Dr. Perry is a fantastic dentist! Like a lot of people, I get anxious at the dentist. Dr. Perry is super accommodating! He checks in throughout the work to make sure I'm doing okay and not experiencing any pain. He always answers all my questions and explains what work we're doing, how long things will take, etc. And I also have to give credit to Shanice, who is a wonderful dental assistant! They made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and amazingly I had no pain at all afterward. The work they did was excellent. Recently I went back because another tooth started bothering me. We had actually talked about this tooth back in 2024, but I put it off because I wasn't having pain at the time and I don't have dental insurance. Even so, I knew this was the place I wanted to go back to because I trust them. When I came in yesterday, they were once again so patient and caring. Even though it was late, they still took their time with me and treated me like family. Everyone in the office is incredibly kind and makes you feel comfortable during what can normally be a stressful experience. I'm really grateful to have found a dental office that truly cares about their patients and does such great work. I highly recommend them.
