Recently scheduled an appointment for an alignment and was told 3-4 hours at the maximum for a really bad alignment. My car was dropped off at 8:30 am as requested and was not even inspected until 3:00 pm after i asked for a rush to be put on the job (6 hours later). The alignment was not completed and i was still charged for an inspection, after asking why I was being charged, i overheard one of the mechanics saying he would sabotage someone's car systems (he said cruise control and something else) because of attitude they received from the customer. I would not recommend taking your car here unless you sit in the lobby waiting for it, or else it'll be the last thing they get done that day. I would take my business and time elsewhere. read more

I had a tire that I thought was bad end up being a valve stem so we both thought. I woke up the next morning and had a flat tire again. Now this was going on during a snowstorm and now Saturday morning with a light crew add a very full schedule. I called them and they told me to bring it straight in. They will drop what they're doing and fix my tire for nothing. What really great about this place is that I had a bad valve stem plus I had a nail in my tire they took the tire put a patch in it and I like the business and I tell people to try them out for work to be done on their vehicles they do know how to make customers happy very polite read more

When you look for a mechanic you want what?... 1) HONESTY 2) Trustworthy 3) knowledgeable mechanics 4) Price or value for your money Willy Veldman and his sons Lauren and Todd and I will include Mike (not a son but one hell of a great service man and works like he is related) are as far as I am concerned the most honest and trustworthy family and business in the area. If they say something is wrong, it is and if they are wrong and it is a simple fix then they will tell you. Once I brought my car in and Mike explained it may be difficult to track down the wiring issue and could going to be a lot of time to find the issue (IE money) only to come back to my fixed car and bill for $4 (yes I said $4!). Turned out to be a very minor fix like a bad connection on a bulb. Needless to say this shows honesty and integrity. So I trust them. The have high standard of excellence, very highly trained mechanics. In fact their mechanic went to Toyota for training on working on new hybrids. So Veldmans bought many badly crashed Toyota priuses and complete rebuilt good a new them to make sure the totally knew that hybrid engined, car and electronics in the new cars. Now let me talk about price and value. I have been taking my cars here for almost 20 years. so 20 years ago I would have said the prices can't be beat, 10 years ago I would have said the prices are very good. 7 years ago I would say they are still cheaper that a dealer but higher than many privately shops. That said I must tell you that price is not value and in some cases time is money. Veldman shine because for the price you get unequaled and consistent service, honesty, integrity, workmanship. They treat you like you are their most important customer. So the value in what you paid good money is there. It is the one place I tell people if you take it there don't expect the cheapest work, just expect your vehicle to be fixed right, to be treated like a person or even a friend and you never have to worried about honesty.. Quite frankly you can go to the mechanic that charges the lowest rate per hour... but beware, if the cheap rates are charges for work that really doesn't need to be done or something is fixed poorly or they use a cheap or used part but charge you for more.... sure the bill look good for the work they tell you they did or maybe didn't do. At Veldman's there is no worry and I have no stress. They take me home or to work and pick my up and bring me back to work done right EVERY TIME! went to pay off 3225.00 on my transmission swap I was told my vehicle had a misfire which was odd because I replaced engine I asked to see it and hear it run I immediately noticed the car doors were unlocked he went to start it and it was out of gas he then asked me did I have a stereo my head unit was gone my amp my box and subwoofers anything of value there's only one key to my car and it was supposedly locked behind fenced lot I'm highly upset my car looks as if it was being used to pick up lunch and parts or a damn theft recovery smh I hope that they make this right mind you I'm a first time customer and only went there because they were certified. read more

I had an 8Am appointment for an install that takes about 1.5-2hours so I got there at 8am after waiting for an hour and a half I asked about the status of my vehicle and as it turns out they had not yet started. They told me that they had another install and the mechanic is just going to start working on it I walk outside and my car was in the same spot I left it 1.5hours prior horrible service I will never recommend this place to anyone for wasting 1.5 hours of my life this whole situation was ridiculous and I'm sure rare but because of this I will never come back for service here or suggest anyone to this place. read more

I would never recommend them, not even to my worst enemy. My car was towed here by recommendation of my insurance. To begin, I was quoted $300 higher than 2 other places that we called after hearing how much they would be charging. We were making an emergency trip to Chicago when our car broke down near South Bend. AAA towed us to Veldman's on a Saturday afternoon. The garage was closed for the day, but my wife peaked in and saw someone in the office and knocked. Even though it was after hours the gentleman let us in, got our information, let us use their restroom and helped us with information on renting a car. While in we were in Chicago the folks at Veldman's kept us informed about what they were doing to repair our car, and when we picked it up three days later it was professionally done and we've had no trouble with the car since. I can NOT believe what they tried to do. I am a young college kid and he def. tried to rip me off. He told me it would be 1,300 dollars to replace the struts. I went to the tire place accross the street and they said 600. I went and bought the struts and there were les then 200 dollars.
