I was recently in Lynchburg, TN visiting the Jack Daniels Distillery. After we toured the town square, after most the shops were closed. We stopped just to photograph the Velma's Candy sign just as a woman was shutting off the lights and locking up. She was already in her car when she saw us taking the photo. Well, long story short, she got out of her car, re-opened the store, and took the time to let us in, tell us the story of her store, her grandmother (The Velma for whom the store is named), and her family. It was an absolutely wonderful gesture and it warmed our hearts. (Where I live you are more likely to get accosted about why you are taking pictures than to be treated like family.) And she gave us some of the best fudge I have ever had. If you are ever nearby, please go and visit this wonderful establishment. You won't regret it. read more

For all the years I've been going to Lynchburg with the better half we'd stop in to Nina's for chocolate. John & Linda (who ran Nina's) have retired on and now Kellie is pursuing her dreams of being a Chocolatier (Velma was Kellie's Grandmother). The "Official" Grand Opening is April 14th, 2018, but the store was opened this weekend when we were in town and they have been working hard to make the "Product" laced candies that we've come to love from Nina's. We tried the Chocolate with Jack Daniel's Fire and it was just the right amount of sweet and hot. I look forward to trying the other of these candies in my future visits! read more

The cashier was extremely friendly and helpful! A natural saleswoman! There was plenty of candy for everyone there. I would highly suggest the chocolate covered cherries made with Jack! The only thing I was upset about was that we didn't purchase more of them, only to find out they don't ship them later on. Nothing against this business, just our mistake. Very good candy. Strong recommendation for their homemade fudge. We stopped in after visiting Jack Daniels Distillery. We were able to sample some fudge. Yall! If you haven't ordered any peanut butter fudge or white chocolate covered oreos from Velmas, you are missing out! The sweet lady who owns the place (who I thought was Velma, but from my understanding I believe her grandmothers name was Velma), brought my boss, my coworkers, and I all chocolate covered strawberries! They were so good that we called to order 3 more dozens but they have already sold out! We made sure to get those 3 dozen the next day though. We stopped by this store after the Jack Daniel's tour while wandering around the city. The two ladies working that day were very kind and welcoming to us. They were even gracious enough to let us try some of their products that they usually don't sample. The Jack Daniel's chocolate fudge and the peanut butter fudge were both amazing. They melt in your mouth and you can really taste all the different flavors. The smaller chocolates were also delicious, and of course, made with Jack Daniel's. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something sweet during their time in Lynchburg. read more

I went into Velma's with family and friends after our tour at the Jack Daniel's Distillery. They were so kind and they treated us like we were family. They even gave us free chocolate covered strawberries and free sampling of the fudge! We were also blown away by their candies. (The Bee Sting was my favorite). It's so unique having candies infused with Jack Daniel's and it's something I recommend everyone should try (you won't regret it)! I personally have never tasted any sweets like theirs before. While visiting the square I spotted Velmas but it was too late...closed. HOWEVER the owners said to please come in and asked what I fancied. I just wanted a piece of fudge to share with 3 other friends. Not only were they extremely friendly but she boxed up the fudge, free of charge with 4 spoons for sharing.
