I did laser hair removal for upper lip. They have all covid precautions such as masks required until you're getting treated, also one person at a time, no seating area, they tell you once you arrive in front of the place, text the # and they'll let you know when the customer inside leave and everything is sanitized so you can enter. They do temp checks and it just looks very well kept and clean. The laser does freaking hurt like hell but I also have low pain tolerance; but it does work miracles !! Only $20 for each session for upper lip, that's it! Def worth it! read more

I like to visit places a couple of times before I make a review. I've been to Velvet Effects 3 times for Brazilian. All times I've seen Ashley and my experience has been GREAT!!!! During my first appointment the owner actually gave us a lesson on what laser is and what to expect, I've been no another laser place and they did not do this. My technician Ashley is very knowledgeable, sweet and patience since sometimes laser can hurt. Like I said before i only get a Brazilian so after 3 appointments my hairs have diminished drastically. Now I am not Chubaca hairy but I will continue to get my Brazilian laser-ed as its less painful than waxing and it definitely last longer than waxing for me. Since I've been doing laser I do not have any ingrown hair or any burns whatsoever. I go with a friend who has gone 4 times and has gotten her face, underarms, Brazilian and thighs done. Again she has had a great experience as me and she's hairy, LOL. My only CON is that i wish they had an office closer to my house since I live in the Bronx and travel to Queens. I'm a local girl. I've lived in Middle Village the majority of my life. I can't remember how long Velvet Effects has been there but it seems forever. First, it's obvious the owner is not greedy because his prices are far below the industry standard. Low prices does not mean low quality work. Anna at the front desk is so cute and cheerful. She gave me the information to prepare for my chin getting lasered, which was followed. The chin hurt like hell. It felt like hot rubber bands snapping on the area. I was told to not shave the area for as long as possible so the technician could see and assess the area. I had no clue that not only is the desired area treated but the hair disintegrates! It's like a wax session and permanent hair removal session in one. I was so impressed that I went back two weeks later to start laser removal on my legs. Now, the laser is the star of the show but Ashley is the girl that performs the magic. She is so damn nice, real and friendly. But ladies please beware of this if you decide to correct your NASOLABIAL FOLDS at VELVET SPA: Before the injections make sure you specify if you want a, I suppose that's what it is.. a "lifting effect", or you just want your nasolabial folds to be naturally and lightly filled. If you decide to have a "lifting effect" mind an elevation will be created on the inner side of your folds between your nose and your upper lips to... according to what I can see, pull the skin. Make sure you discuss this FIRST or you will deeply regret it! I am still trying to get my elevations disolved... Botox was also performed at location and that was ok.
