I bought many orchid there pre pandemic. i have many orchids and understanding their care. One that I purchased died very quickly - differ from the others - and seemed to have a specific problem. i called the owner and she was nice and said "i am putting your name in my book on a list and we will replace it for you when you come back in" I called last week to let them know i would be coming and she treated me like i was crazy -said "we can't honor anything like that business has been hard with COVID" - they wouldn't even think about looking for whatever list that was and honoring their commitment. i have previously recommended this place to lots of people but NEVER AGAIN. There are plenty of better choices out there with people that appreciate their customers. Don't go here. i will post to all social media that i can. read more

My girlfriend discovered my love for orchids and so set out to buy the perfect gift while I recovered from cancer surgery. We drove past Vanamy Orchids weekly and so she decided on her own December 5th to surprise me with a beautiful gift. She browsed the greenhouse for an hour, asking many questions. She had never purchased an orchid before and wanted to make an informed purchase. She brought home a beautiful orchid which she paid $60 for. I was surprised by the price and she was immediately embarrassed by her decision. I know that Home Depot has orchids for $20 but this is not exactly where one buys quality horticulture. The price $60 did not include a pot. I suggested we return it but she said the receipt was emailed. So she potted it with proper orchid soil and watched YouTube videos to ensure that we had planted it correctly. Three weeks later the orchid lost all six blooms. I decided to go to Venamy Orchids myself to get some answers. They remembered my girlfriend and said their prices are based on the number of blooms and said we must have not followed their directions. I asked if I could return it or get my money back and they refused. They also said they don't email receipts. My girlfriend keeps all receipts. So therefore we received no receipt. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am with their business. We have since bought 5 orchids, 2 from Home Depot and 3 from Whole Foods, total price $70 including pots. As you can see by the photo attached, my girlfriend has a green thumb. I cannot recommend this business to anyone. read more

I have been purchasing orchids at Venamy for years. Their flowers are healthy and beautiful and blooms will last for weeks or months under the right conditions. My birthday gift from my husband kept its blooms for over six months. Their plants also rebloom if you do not over or under water. They also have a nice selection of pots and will arrange the plants beautifully with moss etc. The staff is helpful and pleasant. I prefer to buy here rather than the super market! read more

If you find yourself in Brewster, Venamy has a very fine collection of orchids. I'm not an orchid owner (they are sooo finicky) but I enjoy window-shopping here because they have such variety and because their salespeople are orchid nerds disguised as shop staff. I love their clay pots for my houseplants--they're made with such rough clay they look as if they are covered in moss. read more

Very nice selection, but I got a plant infested with bugs here. It was the first time I got a bad one there so I could forgive that. However, the owner/employees refused to acknowledge that the bugs came from their shop, and then tried to say I paid less than I did. Not good. Will not shop there again. read more

I was interested in possibly purchasing items for myself as well as for a wedding and reception but when I went to their website, many pages were unavailable/under construction and there was no price list. I nicely contacted the email address listed asking them to please give me the link to the section on their website called Orchid Arrangements and asked for a price list. I also said that I was very busy and unable to phone but, since this is the electronic age, felt it was not unusual to ask for this via email. I got a response back very quickly BUT it was a very nasty response from the owner: Hello, I'll pass on your demands to our Board of Directors, when we get one. In the meantime, since you are in such a hurry and have no time to call us I suggest you get your orchid at Home Depot, Costco, ... Sincerely, Glafkos Keramidas Quite frankly, I get treated much better at Home Depot, etc and I'm confident now that the price will be considerably less yet the orchids from their are gorgeous and do very well. As a customer, and as a fellow human being, I expect much better treatment than this person gave me - without ever meeting me or knowing what kind of business I was prepared to bring their shop! Further, if nothing else, the old adage applies: The customer is always right! I don't care how badly you want or need orchids. There is no excuse for this owner's behavior and no reason for any customer to be subjected to it. The owners had the option to treat me well - in which case I would have gladly told everyone to shop there - or to treat me very nastily as they did - in which case I also will tell everyone about my negative experience and suggest that they not shop there. Spend your hard-earned money where it will be appreciated and boycott this shop! I buy orchids here regularly either for my house or as gifts. The ladies here are so friendly and they do such a gorgeous job on orchid arrangements. I always bring my own glass pot for them to plant the orchids in. (Home goods has the best fish bowls or glass cubes for a very reasonable price). The orchids from Venemy are giant and they last at least 3 months if you maintain them exactly as they tell you to. Less water is always better! In terms of price, I guess you could say they are pricey but if you consider how long the orchids last, it is far more price conscience to purchase orchids here than fresh cut flowers at a florist. A single stem is about $70 potted. In my book, they are worth every penny! I highly recommend stopping by Venemy. They will also deliver to NYC. read more

On 1/4/12, I dropped off a beautiful Stefan Isler Lava Flow orchid to be re-potted as it had outgrown the pot. I called twice to see if it was ready and they were always too busy to get it done. Today 2/16/12, I picked it up to repot myself and all that was left was one small off-shoot that is in BAD shape. The owner told me maybe it wasn't in good shape when I brought it in (NO WAY) and that she had watered it once a week (what? misted it?) I told her that I was shocked at the condition of the plant. It had been an expensive one and she replaced it with a common dendrobium which I already have. This business has lovely orchids and they do a fine job of potting up new ones but don't dare trust them with something that you value. By the way, I am an owner of several other orchids which bloom regularly and are increasing in size. This orchid had bloomed for me once, the fat part of the stems were large, thick and unwrinkled. Now I have three dead, rotting stems and one that is shriveled. I am not happy! read more
